“Now it will come to pass in that day that Tyre will be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king.” Isaiah 23:15
Tyre was an economic powerhouse that made nations prosperous through its far-reaching and culturally diverse trade routes. However, Tyre was conquered by, and came under the dominion, of the Babylonian Empire. Also, the “seventy years” is how long the Israelites were in captivity to the Babylonians, then after those “seventy years” the Babylonian Empire collapsed and the Israelites were freed. During those “70 years”, Tyre was forgotten as an economic powerhouse of trade because the Babylonians seized and absorbed all trade, commerce, and wealth.
In the next verses, Isaiah prophesies, by the Spirit of the Lord, about Tyre being revived…revived today as the global economy of the one world government of the beast.
If “seventy years” sounds familiar to you, its because Jeremiah and Daniel both mention those “70 years” of captivity to the Babylonians. Isaiah first prophesies of those “70 years” in the verse above, then Jeremiah prophesies of those “seventy years”, as quoted, “…these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years. ‘Then it will come to pass, when seventy years are completed, that I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, the land of the Chaldeans, for their iniquity,’ says the Lord…” 25:11-13 Then after Jeremiah, Daniel quotes those same “70 years”, “I, Daniel, understood by the books the number of the years specified by the word of the Lord through Jeremiah the prophet, that He would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem.” Daniel 9:2
“At the end of seventy years it will happen to Tyre as in the song of the harlot: “Take a harp, go about the city, you forgotten harlot; Make sweet melody, sing many songs, that you may be remembered. And it will be, at the end of seventy years, that the Lord will deal with Tyre. She will return to her hire, and commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world on the face of the earth.” Isaiah 23:16-17
“The end of seventy years” refers to after the collapse of the Babylonian Empire. That is a time when not only the Israelites were freed from their captivity, but so was Tyre. Upon their freedom, even though Tyre was forgotten by the nations once traded with, Tyre began to reestablish her extensive trade routes by reminding nations of the economic prosperity that once was and what could be again. That is what this verse means, “Take a harp, go about the city, you forgotten harlot; Make sweet melody, sing many songs, that you may be remembered.” The Lord refers to Tyre as a harlot because of giving herself away to any nation who would buy her merchandise instead of finding loyalty to God.
That is prophetic for the revived “Tyre” of the global economy that we are seeing developing today. Through the United Nations, a harp is heard playing, they make sweet melody with the nations of the world, singing many songs to appeal to many countries. The one world government is built on “harlotry”, giving itself to anyone who partners with them through the promise of economic prosperity and social unification. The global culture despises the Holiness of God, found in Jesus Christ, in the presence of the Holy Spirit. The nations and people live for the beast that has power over physiology to give them what to speak, do, think, and feel, “All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” Revelations 13:8 The “him” in that verse is the beast of the image and mark of the beast.
The Lord refers to Tyre as being a harlot, and at the end of “seventy years”, when Tyre decides to reestablish extensive trade routes, the Lord will deal with her. That is prophetic for the Lord promising to deal with the revived “Tyre” of today’s global government of the beast. In other words, the Lord is bringing the wrath of His judgment against the global economy of the nations of today.
Tyre has returned to “her hire” in these days, which is the global economy of the nations, united through the United Nations. That is what is meant by “Tyre” “committing fornication with all the kingdoms of the world on the face of the earth.” That is also how the Apostle John describes the formation of today’s nations that are united through the promise of economic prosperity and social diversity, as quoted below,
“Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.” So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” Revelations 17:1-5 The collapse of the global economy is described in the post on Revelations 18.
Within the book of Revelations, the global government of the beast is referred to as today’s Babylon, as described in the post on Isaiah 21:1-2, like Tyre is referred to as the global economic network,
As our Lord Jesus says, “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?…Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Mark 8:36, Matthew 6:19-21
“Her gain and her pay will be set apart for the Lord; it will not be treasured nor laid up, for her gain will be for those who dwell before the Lord, to eat sufficiently, and for fine clothing.” Isaiah 23:15-18
“Her gain and her pay will be set apart for the Lord..” means that the harlot seducing the nations and people to desire the global economy will not profit from all of that labor. Within economic prosperity, the harlot is “…drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus.” Revelations 17:6 The bank account of the harlot, which is the treasury of the government of the beast, will be made bankrupt, as described in the post on Revelations 18. “But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ “So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” Luke 12:20-21
The true treasures are laid up in Heaven, through our Lord Jesus Christ, as Paul spoke about by the Holy Spirit, “To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ…” Ephesians 3:8 Moses gave up the riches and honor he could have had as an Egyptian to choose to suffer for Christ, as quoted, “By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.” Hebrews 11:24-26
This present heaven and earth will be destroyed, but our investment is in the eternal New Jerusalem of the new heaven and earth. All of the earthly riches of this world fades away, but what the Lord has for us is set apart in an eternal retirement account, “For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat than it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes. So the rich man also will fade away in his pursuits.” James 1:11 Global warming is already in the world and is the Fourth Plague of Revelations 16:8-9.
“And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her. In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.’ Therefore her plagues will come in one day—death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her. Revelations 18:4-8
“Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign forever and ever!” Revelations 17:15
“And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there will be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His servants will serve Him. They shall see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. There will be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they will reign forever and ever.” Revelations 22:1-5
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
