“But there was a certain man called Simon, who previously practiced sorcery in the city and astonished the people of Samaria, claiming that he was someone great, to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is the great power of God.” And they heeded him because he had astonished them with his sorceries for a long time.” Acts 8:9-11
Sorcery is the practice of gripping the minds and feelings of people to persuade them to believe a certain way. In the case of Simon, he astonished the Samaritans to the extent that everyone was calling him “...the great power of God”. They followed his guidance as doctrine and commandments. Unfortunately, no one was being born-again to bring them out of destructive lifestyles existing within the darkness of Simon’s sorceries. Sorceries do nothing to sanctify a person’s attitudes and spirit because only the Holy Spirit can do that when we say “Yes” to Jesus Christ. It’s not good to put our faith in sorceries.
Sorceries are by the working of Satan because the Holy Spirit is rejected and that gives rise to unbelief in God, the rejection of Jesus Christ, and lawlessness. “The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12
Today, sorcery comes through a very powerful source that has power over physiology. That source is the beast that gives people of the whole world what to feel, think, say, and do. “The whole world was filled with wonder and followed the beast.” Revelation 13:3b. That beast uses unrighteous deception and strong delusion to grip the mind and feelings of people everywhere to follow it as “the great power of God”. That “sorcerer” gives breath/life to the image of the beast to speak by speaking and living through people as they are groomed to the mark, name, number of the beast by what they are given to say and do. That “sorcerer” is the one who sits in the temple of God [our body] as if it is God, “… who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” 2 Thessalonians 2:4 The “he” in that verse is the “man of sin”. “….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
