“Has He struck Israel as He struck those who struck him? Or has He been slain according to the slaughter of those who were slain by Him?” Isaiah 27:7
In the history of the Israelites, God brought His wrath against the enemies of Israel more severely than the discipline He brought to Israel. The Israelites had not been completely slaughtered and ruined like many of their enemies were.
Today, we see that the Israelites continue to remain in cities and nations around the world. They are not referred to as Israelites, but as Jewish people or Israelis. They are mostly congregated in Israel [the larger half], and the United States of America [the smaller half]. Then there are much fewer Jewish people in other nations around the world. Many of the countries that came against Israel long ago no longer exist today, but Israel continues to exist as Israel, as its territory was long ago.
The map below shows how the territory of Israel was during the days of Ezekiel compared to what the territory of Israel is today. Practically identical, except for the West Bank. The map to the left is Israel today, the map to the right is from Ezekiel 48.

“In measure, by sending it away, You contended with it. He removes it by His rough wind in the day of the east wind.” Isaiah 27:8
The Lord sent Israel away, meaning that He was angry with them for turning away from Him, ignoring the Ten Commandments, and forgetting about the animal sacrifices to practice the atonement of sin. The Lord contends with them, meaning He brings His judgment against them. Israel will be removed by His rough wind, meaning they would be dealt with severely. That will be the day of the east wind, which we are seeing that happening today. The “east wind” can be considered to be the countries of the east, such as Iran, Russia, Lebanon, Syria, Gaza Strip, etc.
Lately, Israel has become an enemy of the Lord for their rejection of Jesus Christ, as quoted, “Lately My people have risen up as an enemy—” Micah 2:8 Speaking of Israel, “Therefore the Lord says, the Lord of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel, “Ah, I will rid Myself of My adversaries, and take vengeance on My enemies. I will turn My hand against you…” Isaiah 1:24-25
The Lord has gathered the Jewish people to Israel as the place where He unleashes the wrath of His judgment upon them, “Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Because you have all become dross, therefore behold, I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. As men gather silver, bronze, iron, lead, and tin into the midst of a furnace, to blow fire on it, to melt it; so I will gather you in My anger and in My fury, and I will leave you there and melt you. Yes, I will gather you and blow on you with the fire of My wrath, and you will be melted in its midst. Ezekiel 22:19-21
The Jewish people were gathered to Israel in 1948, the year the State of Israel was established. Since 1948, Israel has relentlessly been in 19 wars, click here for a list of those wars. The global culture of the beast protest against Israel from cities around the world and the United Nations are unfavorable to the independence of the State of Israel. The wrath of God’s is judgment is coming against the Jewish people from all angles, and the worst is to come. The rough winds blowing.
“Therefore by this the iniquity of Jacob will be covered; And this is all the fruit of taking away his sin: When he makes all the stones of the altar like chalkstones that are beaten to dust, wooden images and incense altars will not stand.” Isaiah 27:9
You may have noticed how the names of Jacob and Israel are used as if they are one and the same. That’s because the person of Jacob is Israel. Jacob’s name was changed to Israel in Genesis 32:27-28, as quoted, “So He said to him, “What is your name?” He said, “Jacob.” And He said, “Your name will no longer be called Jacob, but Israel…”
There is only one way that the sin of Jacob/Israel will be covered, that is by doing away with everything they make more important than God. That begins with humbling themselves as a Jewish culture and to exalt Jesus above their Jewish heritage. In Jesus Christ, there is no Jew nor Greek, as followers of Jesus, we are many different colors, in many different nations, with many different languages, “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:26-29
If the Jewish people would have said “Yes!” to Jesus 2000 years ago, the State of Israel would never have existed. The Jewish people would not exist today as a Jewish culture but would have their identity in the family of Jesus Christ. As followers of Christ Jesus, we do not have a country on this earth to call our own, our country is the eternal New Jerusalem in the new heaven and earth .
Today, their is an idol in this world that is exalted over God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. That false god is the beast that has power over physiology to give people what to speak, do, think, and feel. That beast gives breath/life to the image of the beast to speak by speaking and living through people everywhere. By what they are given to say and do, people are groomed to the mark, name, number of the beast.
To have our sins covered by the fruit of Salvation, we must not stand for the beast but to exalt God, through Jesus Christ, in the presence of the Holy Spirit. “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and will not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.” John 5:24
“Yet the fortified city will be desolate, the habitation forsaken and left like a wilderness; There the calf will feed, and there it will lie down and consume its branches.” Isaiah 27:10
The “fortified city” is Israel, once fortified by faith in God, living by the Ten Commandments, and practicing the animal sacrifices for the atonement of sin. However, the “fortified city” is now under the wrath of the judgment of God. They rejected Jesus as the Christ and Son of God and now the land of Israel will be forsaken and forgotten. As the Christ, Jesus, says to the Jewish people, “See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you will see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ” Matthew 23:38-39
A calf was very vulnerable prey for wild animals. For it to feed and lie down meant that it felt safe and secure from all predators. A calf wouldn’t be laying down and feeding if it sensed a nearby threat. That is how desolate Israel will be, so desolate that it will become occupied by animals, unafraid and non-threatened by people or predators. A post from Ezekiel 39 describes Israel on the Day After the Battle of Armageddon.
Also, the branches of Israel are being consumed, consumed by the docile , meek, and gentle presence of the Christ, whose name is Jesus. As His followers, we are the branch that has been grafted into the branches of Israel that has been broken off due to unbelief, “You will say then, ‘Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in.’ Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith.” Romans 11:19-20.
“He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:11-13
“When its boughs are withered, they will be broken off; The women come and set them on fire. For it is a people of no understanding; Therefore He who made them will not have mercy on them, and He who formed them will show them no favor.” Isaiah 27:11
“Boughs” are the strong branches of a tree. The boughs of Israel withered when people began to live for God through Jesus Christ instead of through the laws of Judaism, “…our sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” 2 Corinthians 3:5-6
The Jewish people have no understanding of the prophecies of the Scriptures that they read every day, referring to the the coming of the Christ, who came in the form of a man, whose name is Jesus. “What then? Israel has not obtained what it seeks; but the elect have obtained it, and the rest were blinded. Just as it is written: “God has given them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see and ears that they should not hear, to this very day.” And David says: “Let their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a recompense to them. Let their eyes be darkened, so that they do not see, and bow down their back always.” Romans 11:7-10
The Lord will have no mercy on the Jewish people, and will show them no favor, “Lately My people have risen up as an enemy…therefore the Lord says, the Lord of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel, “Ah, I will rid Myself of My adversaries, and take vengeance on My enemies. I will turn My hand against you…See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you will see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ””Micah 2:8, Isaiah 1:24-25, Matthew 23:38-39
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
