“Rain down, you heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness; Let the earth open, let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together. I, the Lord, have created it.” Isaiah 45:8

What did the heavens from above rain down? Christ Jesus was rained down from Heaven, “For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me…I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I will give is My flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” John 6:38, 51

The skies pour down righteousness upon us by faith in Jesus Christ. What is righteousness? Righteousness can be described by what our Lord Jesus says righteousness is not, “For I say to you that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will in no wise enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.” Matthew 5:20 The righteousness of the Pharisees and scribes came by external appearances, as described in Matthew 23. 27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.” Matthew 23:27-28 The righteousness that we have in Jesus Christ comes from within us, by the presence of the Holy Spirit,

The earth that opens is our heart, mind, and soul to receive Christ Jesus as our Lord and Savior. When Jesus Christ gave His flesh on the Cross to atone for our sin, the veil/curtain that separated us from the presence of God, from the presence of the Holy Spirit, was torn in two. It was torn in two from top to bottom, symbolizing being opened from Heaven and coming upon earth into our spirit and soul, “And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom;” Matthew 27:50-51 “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” 1 Corinthians 3:16

We who receive Christ Jesus receives the Holy Spirit. We know we have the Holy Spirit when we do not speak against Jesus Christ and say that He is Lord, “Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 12:3

The Holy Spirit is the guarantee of our eternal inheritance in the New Jerusalem, “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.” Ephesians 1:13-14 We are the purchased possession, purchased by the blood Jesus shed on the Cross to forgive sin. Our redemption comes when we are resurrected from the grave and our earthly bodies are redeemed to an eternal body.

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.
I am coming soon.
Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.’”
Revelation 2:24-25
, 3:1
