The Day of the Lord.
“The word of the Lord which came to Zephaniah the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah.” Zephaniah 1:1
To sort that verse a bit, Zephaniah prophesied while Josiah was the king of Judah. Zephania was older than Josiah, but both were from the same family tree. Zephaniah was the great-great grandson of Hezekiah while Josiah was the great grandson of Hezekiah. Who was Hezekiah? Isaiah speaks a lot about Hezekiah and Hezekiah was the 13th king of Judah, known for his faithfulness to God and massive religious reforms. Josiah was the 16th king of Judah. The book of Isaiah was written about 100 years before the book of Zephaniah. Also, our Lord Jesus Christ, in earthly terms, was from the tribe of Judah. Hezekiah and Josiah are mentioned in the family tree of Jesus Christ in Matthew 1:9-10, “Uzziah begot Jotham, Jotham begot Ahaz, and Ahaz begot Hezekiah. Hezekiah begot Manasseh, Manasseh begot Amon, and Amon begot Josiah.”
Total destruction of the population and planet we know today.
“I will utterly consume everything from the face of the land,” says the Lord; “I will consume man and beast; I will consume the birds of the heavens, the fish of the sea, and the stumbling blocks along with the wicked. I will cut off man from the face of the land,” says the Lord.” Zephaniah 1:2-3
Everything we see today will be totally wiped from the face of the earth corresponding to the Day of the Lord, as also described in Zachariah 14. Nothing will be spared. All of the population of the world gone…all of the animals of the earth gone…all of the birds gone…and all of the fish gone.
The plan of the Lord is to destroy this present heaven and earth because it becomes inhabited by demons, “‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!’ She has become a dwelling for demons and a haunt for every impure spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal.” Revelations 18:2 A new heaven and earth will be created as the eternal home for all of us who live for God through Jesus Christ in the presence of the Holy Spirit. The name of that place is the New Jerusalem, “Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God…” Revelations 21:1-2
The stumbling blocks and the wicked are those who choose to live for the power of darkness through the beast that gives them what to say, do, think, and feel. They are a stumbling block to everyone who seeks Jesus Christ. They will be wiped from the face of the earth. They crucify Christ Jesus every day in what they are given to say and do against the way of Christ. They intend to keep Him buried within the tomb of a person’s heart, mind, and soul. They detest the light of Holiness shining within the spirit and attitude of we who live for Jesus Christ. Today’s culture of the beast includes all of those who seek the release of Barabbas [a rebel and murderer] while crying out to crucify the gospel of Jesus. They welcome the image of the beast that is given breath/life to speak by speaking and living through them. By what they are given to say and do, they are conformed to the mark, name, number of the beast. They will be wiped from the face of the earth and have no place within the New Jerusalem.
Today, the destruction of this earth is already very much on the minds of everyone from nation to nation around the world. For example, global warming is spoken of as a threat to all of humanity and the planet, and it is! Global warming is the Fourth Plague of Revelations 16:8-9. Global warming is instrumental in plunging the power center of the beast into darkness, which is the Fifth Plague of Revelations 16:10-11. The government of the beast will be powerless and so will its global culture. That ushers in the Battle of Armageddon of Revelations 16:12-16 which brings about the Day of the Lord, which is a combination of the Seventh Plague of Revelations 16:17-21 and the Seventh Trumpet of Revelations 11:15-19.
Israel and the Jewish people are not exempt from the Day of the Lord.
“I will stretch out My hand against Judah, and against all the inhabitants of Jerusalem. I will cut off every trace of Baal from this place, the names of the idolatrous priests with the pagan priests—” Zephaniah 1:4
As followers of Jesu Christ, we understand that everyone whose faith is in Jesus Christ is Israel and we are the house of Judah whose home is in the New Jerusalem. We are the house of Judah because our Lord Jesus is of the tribe of Judah. But we are not of the earthly Israel and Judah, and our home is not the earthly Jerusalem. As followers of Jesus Christ, we do not serve the god [“Baal”] of this world that gives people what to say, do think, and feel. “For they are not all Israel who are of Israel, nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham; but, “In Isaac your seed will be called.” That is, those who are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God; but the children of the promise are counted as the seed…And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Romans 9:6-8, Galatians 3:29
“Baal” was the national god of the Canaanites and Phoenicians, meaning that the whole nation was required to serve that god. Today, the Jewish people of the State of Israel have made their nation their god, their “Baal”. That’s because about 20o0 years ago they chose their own Jewish culture above Jesus the Christ, the Son of God. If the Jewish people would have said “Yes!” to Jesus then, the State of Israel and the entire Jewish culture would not have existed today. That’s because they would have been Christian, and as followers of Christ, we do not have a nation on this earth to call our own. We live in many different countries, speak in many different languages, and are many different colors. “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:26-28 The Jewish people chose “Baal” those many years ago and are suffering the consequences of that sin today and will suffer further consequences in the future.
The Lord will stretch out His hand against the inhabitants of the State of Israel and will cut off every trace of “Baal”. They will not be recognizable as Israelites. Even today, the Israelis are not recognizable as the people of God, the lineage of the twelve tribes of Israel are no longer recognizable in their culture. They are “Israel” in name only. As time progresses, there won’t be a trace of their Biblical heritage as the children of God. The Jewish priests, all around the world, are idolatrous and pagans. That’s because they make their culture more important than acknowledging Jesus as the Christ and their lord.
Today, the “Baal” of this world is the power of darkness that works through the beast that has power over physiology to give people what to say, do, think, and feel. People everywhere, in cities around the world, welcome the image of the beast that is given breath/life to speak by speaking and living through them. The day is coming when every nation around the world, and their states, and their cities will be waving a global flag and pledging allegiance to the world government…the government of the beast. That will happen when the United Nations become the undisputed one world government. The UN was established in 1945, immediately after WW2, and brough the government of the beast with it, as described in Daniel 8:1-14 and also in Revelations 17. People worldwide are familiar with the goals of the “Sustainable Development Goals” which is the agenda of the United Nations as the global government.
God is the Living Creator, who sent the Savior Jesus Christ, and gives the Holy Spirit, but to appease the “Baal” of this world system, God is denied, Jesus Christ is set aside, and the presence of the Holy Spirit is opposed. We must say as our Lord Jesus said, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You will worship the Lord your God, and Him only you will serve.’” Luke 4:8
The Lord is and will be stretching out His hand against the “Baal” worshippers of this world. Global warming is here and is the Fourth Plague of Revelations 16:8-9. That is a sure sign of the Lord preparing to cut off every trace of “Baal” from this world system along with the idolatrous priests with the pagan priests. The idolatrous and pagan priests are those who live and govern to spread the influence of the beast. The power center of the beast is plunged into darkness in the Fifth Plague of Revelations 16:10-11 and global warming is part of making that happen.
The idol served by the global culture has a form of Godliness.
“Those who worship the host of heaven on the housetops; Those who worship and swear oaths by the Lord, but who also swears by Milcom; Those who have turned back from following the Lord, and have not sought the Lord, nor inquired of Him.” Zephaniah 1:5-6
In the days of Zephaniah, and throughout the Bible, housetops were flat, not the angled roof that we see everywhere today. They were ideal places for worshiping the Lord, on a patio setting so to speak. The Israelites were worshipping the Lord on housetops but also worshipped Milcom. Like Baal, Milcom was a national god that all of the inhabitants of the Ammonites worshipped. The Israelites turned away from the word of God, left the Ten Commandments on a shelf to collect dust, and the animal sacrifices to atone for sin meant nothing to them. They did not seek the Lord and had no relationship with him at all. They were among those of whom the Lord said He would stretch out His hand against.
The culture of today have placed themselves on the “housetops” for everyone to see, where they mix the character of the Living God with the false god of the power of darkness that gives them what to say, do, think, and feel. That amounts to giving to them a form of Godliness but denying the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, “But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come… having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” 2 Timothy 3:1, 5 Today’s culture are serving the beast with two horns like a lamb, which is Satan’s version of the Holy Spirit, as described in the post on Revelations 13:11-13
“Then I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of holiness, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done…In the place of judgment, wickedness was there; and in the place of righteousness, iniquity was there.” Ecclesiastes 8:10, Ecclesiastes 3:16
Satan uses his beast to intertwine himself into the physiology of people by giving what to feel, think, say, and do. God warns us about that all through Bible and is why He sent Jesus Christ to atone for sin so that the Holy Spirit could redeem us as the temple of God. In Daniel 7:8, Satan’s horn has human eyes and a mouth to speak. In Revelations 13:15, the image of the beast is given breath/life to speak and live. In Acts 28:11-13, it speaks of the human and false god being twins. In Acts 4:11-12, unbelievers thought Paul and Barnabas were the incarnation of Zeus and Hermes. In Revelation 17:3-6 the woman in scarlet is molded as one with the scarlet beast. In 2 Thessalonians 2:4, the beast sits in the temple of God, our body, as if is God. In Genesis 6:1-7, the superhumans are a mix of humans and “sons of God”. In Acts 19:35, the goddess Diana was believed to have been sent from Zeus to be served by human beings. In Revelation 13:18, it is written that the number of the beast is the number of the person.
The Holy Spirit says to us, “For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God.” 2 Corinthains 6:14
Those who mix the Living God with the false god of this world are among those of whom the Lord says He will stretch out His hand against. “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.” Revelation 18:4-5
God has prepared His sacrifice for the Day of the Lord.
“Be silent in the presence of the Lord God; For the day of the Lord is at hand, for the Lord has prepared a sacrifice; He has invited His guests. And it will be, in the day of the Lord’s sacrifice, that I will punish the princes and the king’s children, and all such as are clothed with foreign apparel. In the same day I will punish all those who leap over the threshold, who fill their masters’ houses with violence and deceit.” Zephaniah 1:7-9
To be silent before the Lord God refers to silencing the rebellion against Jesus Christ and also to show Him reverence and respect. That silence is called for because the Day of the Lord is at hand. It’s a terrible day for those who deny God, reject Jesus, and do not want the Holy Spirit to be part of who they are. They must be silent and consider that it was by the consequences of their sins that calamity comes upon this earth. For everyone whose faith is in Jesus Christ, the Day of the Lord is a wonderful thing because we know our destiny is eternal life in the New Jerusalem. We keep silent in awe of His majesty, Holiness, and judgment.
The Day of the Lord is at hand, and we see it beginning to appear in today’s world. Global warming is here and is the Fourth Plague of Revelations 16:8-9. We see the sacrifice that the Lord has prepared, which is the government of the beast and its global culture. They live by the power of darkness through the beast that gives them what to say, do, think, and feel. He has invited His guests by saying, “Come and gather together for the supper of the great God“. “Then I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the birds that fly in the midst of heaven, “Come and gather together for the supper of the great God, that you may eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them, and the flesh of all people, free and slave, both small and great.” Revelations 19:17-18
Foreign apparel is to be clothed in the image of the beast which is given breath/life to speak by speaking and living through people. They leap over the threshold, meaning they do not come through door, and Jesus is the Door, “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” John 14:6 They fill the Master’s house with violence, and the Master is God and His house is this world and all His creation. “I will punish the princes and the king’s children, and all such as are clothed with foreign apparel. In the same day I will punish all those who leap over the threshold, who fill their masters’ houses with violence and deceit.”
The global economy collapses to bring worldwide ruin.
“And there will be on that day,” says the Lord, “The sound of a mournful cry from the Fish Gate, a wailing from the Second Quarter, and a loud crashing from the hills. Wail, you inhabitants of Maktesh! For all the merchant people are cut down; All those who handle money are cut off.” Zephaniah 1:10-11
What was the Fish Gate? The Fish Gate was a commercial hub and thriving commercial district, a source of economic prosperity. There will be a mournful cry from the global government and its global culture due to economic ruin. What was the Second Quarter? The Second Quarter was a thriving social district and a prosperous economic area. There will be wailing due to the collapse of the social/economic fabric of the government of the beast. What was Maktesh? Maktesh was the commercial/economic district of Jerusalem [capital of Judah]. The inhabitants of the culture of the beast will wail because of the social upheaval and economic collapse upon them. The crashing of the hills refers to the cities dependent upon the social and economic centers for their survival. Every city around the world will suffer economic and social collapse
The post on Revelations 18 describes the economic collapse of the global government of the beast, “For all the merchant people are cut down; All those who handle money are cut off.” Here’s a small excerpt from Revelations 18, “The kings of the earth who committed fornication and lived luxuriously with her will weep and lament for her, when they see the smoke of her burning, standing at a distance for fear of her torment, saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour your judgment has come.’ And the merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise anymore:” Revelations 18:9-11
The power center of the beast, which upholds the social and economic fabric of the global culture, will be plunged into darkness in the Fifth Plague of Revelations 16:10-11. That leads to the Battle of Armageddon in the Sixth Plague of Revelations 16:12-16. Then comes the Day of the Lord, which is a combination of the Seventh Plague of Revelations 16:17-21 and the Seventh Trumpet of Revelations 11:15-19. Complacency of not acknowledging good nor evil.
“And it will come to pass at that time that I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and punish the men who are settled in complacency, who say in their heart, ‘The Lord will not do good, nor will He do evil.’” Zephaniah 1:12
For the Lord to search Jerusalem with lamps means that His light will shine in the darkness of this world to shine His Light on those who live for Him, through Jesus Christ, in the presence of the Holy Spirit. When Jesus Christ returns, He will be looking for everyone where the Light of His Holy Spirit is shining in them. When He sees the Light shining on their heart, He brings us home with Him into eternal New Jerusalem. That is what the parable of the Ten Lamps is all about, to be wise by keeping the oil of the Holy Spirit shining within us and not to be foolish by allowing the oil to be depleted. How can we know if we have the Holy Spirit? If we do not speak against Jesus Christ and say that He is Lord, then we have the Holy Spirit, “Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 12:3
Today, many people have settled into complacency and do not believe that Christ Jesus is returning. They do not believe that there is a judgment beyond the grave, and say that there is no eternal Hell and that the eternal New Jerusalem is not real. “Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. Though a sinner does evil a hundred times, and his days are prolonged, yet I surely know that it will be well with those who fear God, who fear before Him. But it will not be well with the wicked; nor will he prolong his days, which are as a shadow, because he does not fear before God.” Ecclesiastes 8:11-13
By the Holy Spirit, the Apostle Peter says, “…knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” 2 Peter 3:3-4
We know the scoffers are wrong because the world has not continued as they were from the beginning because global warming is here and is the Fourth Plague of Revelations 16:8-9. Also, in the last section of this post, there is a list of fulfilled prophecies that have changed the world. That list begins from about 1940s to present days. The title of the last section of his post is, “Today, we see the approaching of the Day of the Lord.“
“Therefore their goods will become booty, and their houses a desolation; They will build houses, but not inhabit them; They will plant vineyards, but not drink their wine.” Zephaniah 1:13
“In my hearing the Lord of hosts said, “Truly, many houses will be desolate, great and beautiful ones, without inhabitant. For ten acres of vineyard will yield one bath, and a homer of seed will yield one ephah.” Isaiah 5 Click for post on Isaiah 5:8-10.
The Spirit of the Lord speaks through Solomon about how the houses, gardens, vineyards, and pleasures of this world are vanity and grasping for the wind, as quoted directly below,
“I made my works great, I built myself houses, and planted myself vineyards. I made myself gardens and orchards, and I planted all kinds of fruit trees in them. I made myself water pools from which to water the growing trees of the grove. I acquired male and female servants, and had servants born in my house. Yes, I had greater possessions of herds and flocks than all who were in Jerusalem before me. I also gathered for myself silver and gold and the special treasures of kings and of the provinces. I acquired male and female singers, the delights of the sons of men, and musical instruments of all kinds.
So I became great and excelled more than all who were before me in Jerusalem. Also my wisdom remained with me. Whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them. I did not withhold my heart from any pleasure, for my heart rejoiced in all my labor; And this was my reward from all my labor. Then I looked on all the works that my hands had done and on the labor in which I had toiled; And indeed all was vanity and grasping for the wind. There was no profit under the sun.”
Ecclesiastes 5:4-11
Today, the global government of the beast promises its global culture to build an earthly Garden of Eden, and points to the “Sustainable Development Goals” as the way to accomplish that promise. God says this about the earthly goal to build an earthly Garden of Eden, “A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, like the morning clouds spread over the mountains. A people come, great and strong, the like of whom has never been; Nor will there ever be any such after them…A fire devours before them, and behind them a flame burns; The land is like the Garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; Surely nothing shall escape them.” Joel 2:2-3
“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.” 1 Corinthians 3:16-17
Today, we see the approaching of the Day of the Lord.
“The great day of the Lord is near; It is near and hastens quickly. The noise of the day of the Lord is bitter; There the mighty men will cry out.” Zephaniah 1:14
We know the Day of the Lord is near for reasons all the world can see, as described directly below and also you can click here for a list of fulfilled prophecy since about the 1940s and scroll towards the middle of the page.
- We are within the “42 months” when the beast has been given authority within this world, “And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months.” Revelation 13:5 Click for a post from Revelations 13:5-6 about the “42 months”
The “he” in the verse above refers to the beast behind the image and mark of the beast. The “42 months” began when the government of the beast was established immediately after WW2 when the United Nations was established, as described in Daniel 81:14. The formation of the government of the beast is also described in Revelations 17. Teh end of the beast’s rule on this earth comes when the power center of the beast is plunged into darkness in the Fifth Plague Revelations 16:10-11.
The foundation of the government of the beast and its global culture is the beast that has power over physiology to give people what to say, do, think, and feel. The beast gives breath/life to the image of the beast to speak by speaking and living through people. By what people are given to say and do, they are being are conformed to the mark, name, number of the beast. - Obviously, the global government is here as every nation around the world are conforming their citizens to the global goals of the United Nations. People are being indoctrinated to those goals whether they realize it or not. One of the main objectives of the global government is to remove boundaries and borders created by political and religious beliefs to prepare the world for the one world government. That is accomplished by serving the beast that sets itself within the temple of God, our body, by giving people what to say and do think and feel . That beast is the one “…who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” 2 Thessalonians 2:4 The “he” in that verse refers to the “man of sin”, the “lawless one”, or the “son of perdition”. Click here for a post on the “man of sin”. - Global warming is here as described in the Fourth Plague in Revelation 16:8-9. Global warming is progressing hand in hand with the global government. As the global government becomes stronger and stronger as the undisputed one world government, the effects of global warming becomes more intense.
Global warming is instrumental in destroying the power center of the beast (Fifth Plague) which means the collapse of the global government of the beast. When that happens, there will be nothing remaining to give people what to think, feel, say, do, and believe. The image of the beast will no longer be living and speaking through people and the beast will no longer be functional. When that happens, it gives rise to the Battle of Armageddon (Sixth Plague). All of that is explained in Revelation 16:8-17. - The post on Daniel 12:4-10 provides a checklist of fulfilled prophecies, 1) Has knowledge been increased nowadays? Yes. 2) Are many people traveling? Yes. 3) Has God’s people been scattered? Yes. 4) Does the wise understand the book of Daniel? Yes.
WW3 could happen and that still would not be the Battle of Armageddon. Whatever wars, battles, or any other conflict that occurs in these present times, it only serves to give more dominance and power to the global government of the beast (United Nations).
As long as the beast exists that has power over thoughts, feelings, words, behaviors, and beliefs then the Battle of Armageddon is not here. When the power center of the beast plunges into darkness, that is the end of uncanny knowledge, heightened intuition, extraordinary skills and talents, amazing physical abilities, uncanny authority over overs, etc. That will unleash a world of people out for revenge against the oppression of the global government of the beast. Whenever that happens, then the next significant event is the Battle of Armageddon. Jesus Christ comes back in combination with the Seventh Plague of Revelations 16:17-21 and the Seventh Trumpet of Revelations 11:15-19.
“That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of devastation and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, a day of trumpet and alarm Against the fortified cities and against the high towers. “I will bring distress upon men, and they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord; Their blood will be poured out like dust, and their flesh like refuse.” Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them in the day of the Lord’s wrath; But the whole land will be devoured by the fire of His jealousy, for He will make speedy riddance of all those who dwell in the land.” Zephaniah 1:15-18
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’
“I am coming soon.
Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
