The Lord will come down to fight for Mount Zion/Jerusalem.

“For thus the Lord has spoken to me: “As a lion roars, and a young lion over his prey (When a multitude of shepherds is summoned against him, He will not be afraid of their voice nor be disturbed by their noise), so the Lord of hosts will come down to fight for Mount Zion and for its hill. Like birds flying about, so will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem. Defending, He will also deliver it; Passing over, He will preserve it.” Isaiah 31:4-5

The Spirit of the Lord, through Isaiah, is saying that He will fight for Mount Zion like when a lion roars when defending the prey it caught. A lion is ferocious when defending its meal from a multitude of shepherds coming against it. The Lord is saying that He will defend Mount Zion from the many enemies that has come against her. He will be like birds flying about overhead to defend Jerusalem. He will also deliver it; Passing over, He will preserve it.

We have to realize that the New Testament redefines Mount Zion and Jerusalem [Mount Zion is a hill in Jerusalem]. They are redefined as the home of all of us who live for God through Jesus Christ, as quoted, “But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant…” Hebrews 12:22-23

When our Lord Jesus returns, He comes to fight for every Believer on the earth at that time, and for every believer of the past. That is the day when He reigns as King of kings and Lord of lords, and we are all taken, both the resurrected dead and those still alive, to be with Him eternally. Defending, He will also deliver us; Passing over, He will preserve us.

“And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, followed Him on white horses. Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” Revelations 19:14-16

Who are the armies in heaven that return with Christ Jesus? They are all of the angels in heaven today, before any believer has entered heaven. The following verse describes how Heaven looks today, as quoted, “Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands,” Revelations 5:11

Concerning the earthly Mount Zion and Jerusalem, the Lord Jesus says this, “See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you will see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’” Matthew 23:38-39 After the Battle of Armageddon, just before the return of Jesus Christ, a very small remnant of the Jewish people will come to Jesus Christ and be eternally saved, as described in Ezekiel 39.

“Return to Him against whom the children of Israel have deeply revolted. For in that day every man will throw away his idols of silver and his idols of gold—sin, which your own hands have made for yourselves.” Isaiah 31:6-7

That verse plainly says that the children of Israel have deeply revolted against the Lord by rejecting Jesus as the Christ and Son of God. But the offer of Salvation is still open to them, “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:11-13 They must, like all of us, return to Him, and “…if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

Every person is to return to Jesus Christ whom the Jewish people have revolted against.

The day of the Lord’s Salvation is the day we throw away anything that we make more important than God, His Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. For the Jewish people, they have made their Jewish culture more important than Christ Jesus. They have made having a nation of their own, the State of Israel, more important than Jesus Christ. If the Jewish people would have said “Yes!” to Jesus Christ 2000 years ago, the Jewish culture and the State of Israel would not exist today. That’s because as Christians, we are in many different nations, speaking many different languages, with many different colors of skin, as quoted, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:28-29 As followers of Jesus Christ, we do not have a country on this earth to call our own, our country is the New Jerusalem in the new heaven and earth.

There is an idol that all the world serves, except we whose faith is in Christ Jesus. That idol is the beast that gives people what to say, do, think, and feel. In order to return to God, through Jesus Christ, to live in the presence of the Holy Spirit, that idol has to be shunned and thrown away from being a treasure of our heart. The beast gives breath/life to the image of the beast to speak by speaking and living through people. People are being conformed to the mark, name, number of the beast by what they are given to say and do. They have made the beast their treasure and that is what their life centers around. We must make Jesus our treasure, the place where our heart, mind, and soul centers on.

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25
, 3:11
