“The burden against Tyre. Wail, you ships of Tarshish! For it is laid waste, so that there is no house, no harbor; From the land of Cyprus it is revealed to them.” Isaiah 23:1

By the Spirit of the Lord, Isaiah is given a prophecy to speak against Tyre. All through the Bible, Tyre represents a powerhouse of trade that made many nations economically prosperous.

A detailed description of Tyre is given in Ezekiel 27. While we see the fall of America’s global influence as an economic powerhouse, due to the global economy of the beast being established, the ultimate prophecy is against the global economy. That is an economy that relies on economic and social issues for building an earthly Garden of Eden, but rejects God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit who gives to us an eternal Garden of Eden. “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-21

Why would the ships of Tarshish wail? Because they were trading partners of Tyre, and the ships of Tarshish were being loaded with resources of all types by the ships of Tyre. The wealth of Tyre’s economic prosperity made Tarshish very prosperous. Tyre was chiefly an exporter of resources gathered from all parts of the world, as seen on the map at the bottom of the page. Sidon, mentioned in the next verse, were oarsman for the ships of Tyre, “Inhabitants of Sidon and Arvad were your oarsmen;” Ezekiel 27:8a. For Tyre not to have a “house” nor harbor, meant that the ships of Tyre would no longer be sailing, no longer able to enrich other nations with worldly merchandise.

Tarshish [which was in the southern area of Spain today] heard the news of the collapse of Tyre from Cyprus, which was west just off the coast of Tyre. Because of the location, Cyprus would have been the first to know the news about the collapse of Tyre. All of those places mentioned above are seen on the map at the bottom of this post, which shows the extensive reach of Tyre’s trade routes.

Today, Tyre not only represents the collapse of America’s global economic influence, which is happening today, but goes beyond today to represent the collapse of the global economy of the beast. The United Nations is pressing forward in becoming the undisputed one world government, and that is achieved in harmony with establishing a one world economy. That involves bringing all the wealth of America, and all nations, under the control of the global government. That is what the “Sustainable Development Goals” of the United Nations are all about. Even today, we see how vulnerable the present global economy can be, as we see through global oil prices and supply, food resources, resources for making merchandise, etc. A crisis in one part of the world causes a crisis in other parts of the world relating to shortages, high consumer prices, and inflation in every area.

“Tyre” is the epicenter of the government of the beast, and when it collapses, the economy of nations everywhere collapse. No longer will the global government be able to supply other nations with the resources needed to keep them economically healthy. Nations will wail, and the news will be heard and felt around the world. The collapse of the global economy is described in detail in Revelations 18.

The United Nations was formed in 1945, immediately after World War 2, and brought the government of the beast with it, as described in Daniel 8:1-14. The post on Isaiah 5:8-10 prophecies about the global seizure of world’s property, desolation of large and beautiful homes, and land incapable of producing crops.

Tyre and Sidon are usually mentioned together throughout the Bible, as a partnership forming an economic powerhouse…Sidon is mentioned in the next verse. Tyre and Sidon were neighbors along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, as seen on the map at the bottom of the page. Tyre had ships to sail to many nations, and the inhabitants of Sidon were the oarsmen of those ships.

“Be still, you inhabitants of the coastland, you merchants of Sidon, whom those who cross the sea have filled.” Isaiah 23:2

The coastland being spoken about is the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, about where Lebanon is today, just north of the State of Israel, as shown on the map at the bottom of this post. The inhabitants being spoken about are those of Sidon. Tyre and Sidon were side-by-side each other along the coast. “Those who cross the sea” is referring to the traders of Tyre, who sailed across the Mediterranean Sea in order to trade stuff that resulted in bringing financial and commercial prosperity to their neighbor, Sidon.

The Spirit of the Lord said to the inhabitants of Sidon, “Be still!” In other words, the economic collapse of Tyre would be the economic downfall of Sidon. There wasn’t much that they could say to avoid the financial devastation about to come to them.

Today, nations around the world depend on the “neighborly” relations they have with countries that are prominent in global trade. When something affects the trade between “friendly” countries, both countries suffer an economic crisis. As the United Nations progresses in becoming the undisputed one world government, all nations will want to be “friendly” with the global government of the beast. Their economic health and life will depend on it. The beast “…was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed. He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” Revelations 13:15-17

Today, the beast has power over physiology to give people what to speak, do, think, and feel. That beast gives breath/life to the image of the beast to speak by speaking and living through people everywhere. By what they are given to say and do, they are groomed to the mark, name, number of the beast.

The power center of the best collapses in the Fifth Plague of Revelations 16:10-11, which brings an end to global economic prosperity, and brings chaos, lawlessness, and rebellion worldwide. In the global economic collapse comes the Battle of Armageddon of the Sixth Plague of Revelations 16:12-17. Global warming is instrumental in plunging the power center of the beast into darkness and is the Fourth Plague of Revelations 16:8-9.

“And on great waters the grain of Shihor, the harvest of the River, is her revenue; And she is a marketplace for the nations.” Isaiah 23:3

The “great waters” refer to the mouth, or delta, of the Nile Reiver, where it pours into the Mediterranean Sea from several distributaries. Unlike other rivers, the Nile flows north instead of south. Shihor was aligned with that place where the Nile meets the Mediterranean.

Shihor was wealthy in grain, and other other resources coming from the harvest of the River. Tyre made her revenue, wealth, and prosperity by picking that grain up and exporting it to nations all around, acting as the marketplace for the nations. To see how extensive of a reach the trade routes of Tyre were, see the map at the bottom of the page. The traders of Tyre would have ports by rivers that bordered the sea, which allowed for many imports to be delivered and for exports to be picked up from cities that could easily haul resources by way of the river. That merchandise would then be traded with other nations around the Mediterranean Sea, and throughout the river system. Without the ships of Tyre to transport the resources and merchandise to other nations, the economic prosperity of nations everywhere collapsed.

Today, the global economy depends on strategic waterways in order to transport vital resources to nations around the world. Those waters are called, “international waters”, which are designated by the United Nations to be open to every nation to give safe passage to cargo ships, among other reasons.

The goal of the United Nations is to be the economic lifeline of nations around the world. That is why they are progressing in becoming the undisputed one world government of the beast. If nations do not pledge their allegiance to the government of the beast, then they would fall into economic distress, social upheaval, and drift into what is known as a “third world country”. They would be a country cut off from the global culture of the beast.

The Lord is bringing His judgment upon this world because of their unbelief in Him as the Creator, for rejecting the need for the Christ, whose name is Jesus, and for not wanting the Holy Spirit to be part of who they are. The Lord is bringing the collapse of “Tyre”, to the global economy, as described in detail in Revelations 18.

“The kings of the earth who committed fornication and lived luxuriously with her will weep and lament for her, when they see the smoke of her burning, standing at a distance for fear of her torment, saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour your judgment has come.’…They threw dust on their heads and cried out, weeping and wailing, and saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city, in which all who had ships on the sea became rich by her wealth! For in one hour she is made desolate.’” Revelations 18:9-10, 19

“And the merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise anymore: merchandise of gold and silver, precious stones and pearls, fine linen and purple, silk and scarlet, every kind of citron wood, every kind of object of ivory, every kind of object of most precious wood, bronze, iron, and marble; and cinnamon and incense, fragrant oil and frankincense, wine and oil, fine flour and wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and bodies and souls of men. The fruit that your soul longed for has gone from you, and all the things which are rich and splendid have gone from you, and you shall find them no more at all. The merchants of these things, who became rich by her, will stand at a distance for fear of her torment, weeping and wailing, and saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city that was clothed in fine linen, purple, and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls! For in one hour such great riches came to nothing.’ Every shipmaster, all who travel by ship, sailors, and as many as trade on the sea, stood at a distance and cried out when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, ‘What is like this great city?’” Revelations 18:11-18

On the map below, the places mentioned in the verses of this post are circled in red . Tyre and Sidon sit on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, where Lebanon is today, just above Jerusalem [they are marked with tiny red dots]. The Nile River is in Egypt, and stretches to the south [although it flows to the north, unlike other rivers]. The Shihor River was connected to the Nile River, around where it empties into the Mediterranean Sea. Cyprus is the island to the west and a little north of Tyre and Sidon. Tarshish is said to have been where Spain is today, to the far west on the map. The sea being crossed is the Mediterranean Sea. From that map, you can see how much territory the trade route of Tyre and Sidon covered, nations all around were made prosperous by her.

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
