Jesus Christ replaces the administration over the Jewish culture.

‘Then it will be in that day, that I will call My servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah; I will clothe him with your robe
and strengthen him with your belt; I will commit your responsibility into his hand. He will be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.” Isaiah 22:20-21

“In that day” refers to when Shebna, the administrator over the kingdom of Judah, governing from Jerusalem, was violently pulled down from his position for making himself more important than God, as described in the post on Isaiah 22:15-19

In the verses of this post, Shebna is replaced by Eliakim. Eliakim followed his father, Hilkiah, in his faithfulness to God. Hilkiah was a high priest who was instrumental in bringing reform to serving God, being obedient to the Ten Commandments, and restoring meaning to the animal sacrifices to atone for sin. Hilkiah discovered the “Book of the Law” [the laws of Moses] in the Temple, where it was left and forgotten by the previous administration. That is described in 2 Chronicles 22:1-22. That is also described in 2 Kings 22. Excerpts from the passage from 2 Chronicles 22 are quoted below,

Speaking of the reign of Josiah, “In the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land and the temple…Hilkiah the priest found the Book of the Law of the Lord given by Moses…Thus it happened, when the king heard the words of the Law, that he tore his clothes. Then the king commanded Hilkiah, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Abdon the son of Micah, Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king, saying, “Go, inquire of the Lord for me, and for those who are left in Israel and Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found; for great is the wrath of the Lord that is poured out on us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the Lord, to do according to all that is written in this book.” 2 Chronicles 34:8, 14, 19-21

God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to replace the administration of the scribes and Pharisees, who lost the true meaning of the law of Moses, as God intended it to be. For a list of reforms that our Lord Jesus came to implement, read Matthew 23. Jesus plainly said that Moses wrote about Him, “For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me.” John 5:46. The Holy Spirit also says that Moses chose the reproach of Christ over all the glory he would have received as an Egyptian citizen, being the adopted son of the Pharoah’s daughter. “By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.” Hebrews 11:24-26

Our Lord Jesus came to His own, to the Jewish people, but they rejected Him, “He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:11-13

God has clothed our Lord Jesus with all the royalty once given to the Pharisees and scribes by the Jewish culture. He will return as the King of kings, over all nations and people, and over the Jewish culture, “Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.” Revelations 1:7 “Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war…He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.” Revelations 19:11, 15

God has committed all responsibility of His Kingdom into the hand of His Son, Jesus Christ, “All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:27-30

The Christ, Jesus, is a father to all who live for God, through Him, in the presence of the Holy Spirit. We are the inhabitants of the eternal New Jerusalem, “But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven…” Hebrews 12:22-23 We are the “house of Judah” because we are the children of Jesus Christ, and Jesus is from the tribe of Judah. “Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham...This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, who seek Your faceNow to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Christ.” …And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:7,Psalms 24:6, Galatians 3:16, 29

“The key of the house of David I will lay on his shoulder; So he will open, and no one will shut; And he will shut, and no one will open.” Isaiah 22:22

If that scripture verse sounds familiar, it is used in the prophecies given to John in the book of Revelations, ‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens” Revelations 3:7

“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, ‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”: “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you.” Revelations 3:7-9

The “key of David” refers to the promise God made to establish the throne of David forever, to all generations, “I have made a covenant with My chosen, I have sworn to My servant David: ‘Your seed I will establish forever, and build up your throne to all generations.’ ” Psalms 89:3-4 Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Chosen of God, who has been given an eternal Kingdom whose dominion is from generation to generation on all seven continents of the world. “And your house and your kingdom will be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever.” ’ ”2 Samuel 7:16 “And I will establish him in My house and in My kingdom forever; and his throne will be established forever.” ’ ” 1 Chronicles 17:14

What our Lord Jesus opens and shuts is the door to eternal life, opened to all who believe in Him and closed to all who reject Him, “And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.” Revelations 1:18For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16And at that time your people will be delivered, every one who is found written in the book. And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt.” Daniel 12:1-2

“I will fasten him as a peg in a secure place, and he will become a glorious throne to his father’s house. ‘They will hang on him all the glory of his father’s house, the offspring and the posterity, all vessels of small quantity, from the cups to all the pitchers. In that day,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘the peg that is fastened in the secure place will be removed and be cut down and fall, and the burden that was on it will be cut off; for the Lord has spoken.’” Isaiah 22:23-25

Our Lord Jesus Christ has been fastened as a peg in a secure place within the Kingdom of God. He was fastened to the Cross to atone for the sin of all the world, sat down on the right hand of God in Heaven for eternity, has become much better than the angels, and is the brightness of the glory of God, as quoted, “…who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.” Hebrews 1:3-4 Upon our Lord Jesus hangs all the glory of the Kingdom of God. Upon Him hangs all of the offspring and future generations of Christianity, all people both great and small.

Our Lord Jesus was fastened securely to the Cross, removed from it after His death, and by the standards of this world, was cut down and fallen. Little did they realize that He became sin for us, and when He was “cut down and fallen”, that was the burden of our sin being cut down and falling away, “Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:4-5

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21

At the cross, at the cross where I first saw the light,
and the burden of my sin rolled away.
[At the Cross].

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25
