“Thus says the Lord God of hosts: “Go, proceed to this steward, to Shebna, who is over the house…” Isaiah 22:15
Shebna was a high official in the kingdom of Judah, having influence in the government of Jerusalem [capital of Judah]. Stewardship over the “house” of Judah was placed in his hand. The Spirit of the lord leads Isaiah to speak a word against him.
Today, there are governing officials within the State of Israel, operating from Jerusalem, that has stewardship over the “house” of Israel. The Spirit o f the Lord, through Jesus Christ, has a word to speak against such people.
Also, when our Lord Jesus walked on this earth about 2000 years ago, he spoke against the administrators of the Jewish culture, namely the Pharisees and scribes.
“…and say: ‘What have you here, and whom have you here, that you have hewn a sepulcher here, as he who hews himself a sepulcher on high, who carves a tomb for himself in a rock?” Isaiah 22:16
Through Isaiah, the Spirit of the Lord spoke against Shebna for glorifying himself while Jerusalem and the “house” of Judah was falling apart, as described in Isaiah 22:8-11. Shebna built himself a sepulcher, one like the most powerful of Jerusalem had, and one made of rock to keep his memory honored for a long time after his death.
Today, there are governing officials within the government of Israel, operating from Jerusalem, and they seek glory for self while the sovereignty 0f Jerusalem and all of Israel is crumbling. They seek the glory that comes from the global government as they play a role in allowing the independence of the State of Israel to fade away. They align themselves with the goal of the United Nations to unify the Middle East by whittling away the territory, sovereignty, and independence of Israel. The “Shebnas” of Israel seek the glory that comes from working for the goal of making the United Nations the undisputed one world government of the beast. “How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God?” John 5:44
When our Lord Jesus walked on this earth, He spoke against the administrators over the Jewish culture [scribes and Pharisees] for glorifying themselves and corrupting the Jewish people, as quoted below,
“But all their works they do to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and enlarge the borders of their garments. They love the best places at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called by men, ‘Rabbi, Rabbi.’…For they cleanse the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of extortion and self-indulgence…For they are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. Even so they also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside they are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness…For they travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, they make him twice as much a son of hell as themselves…For they shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for they neither go in themselves, nor do they allow those who are entering to go in…Therefore, indeed, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them they will kill and crucify, and some of them they will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from city to city…” Matthew 23:5-7, 25, 27-28, 15, 13, 34
“Indeed, the Lord will throw you away violently, O mighty man, and will surely seize you. He will surely turn violently and toss you like a ball into a large country; There you will die, and there your glorious chariots will be the shame of your master’s house.” Isaiah 22:17-18
As an administrator over the “house of Judah”, Shebna used his powerful influence to speak for the use of a military in protecting Jerusalem and the kingdom of Judah. That was against the word of the Lord who says, “‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts.” Zachariah 4:6 Shebna and his armies would be violently thrown out, like a ball thrown out into a large country. Which would be like a soccer ball being thrown out onto a soccer field, to be kicked around. The armed forces would be the shame of Jerusalem.
Today, the administrators governing from Jerusalem, for all of Israel, have chosen their glorious military, and “Iron Dome” over the word of the Lord. The Israelis have been in 19 wars since Israel was established as a state in 1948, and even a war in 1948. Click for a list of those wars. They have been violently thrown out, like a ball into a large country, being kicked around from all sides by their enemies. Israel has become the shame of their Master’s house, a shame to God the Creator, because they rely on power and might instead of Him.
Our Lord Jesus walked on this earth to teach us the way of peace, and that His peace does not come by guns and bombs but by the Holy Spirit, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27 “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news,
who proclaims peace, who brings glad tidings of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Isaiah 52:7
“So I will drive you out of your office, and from your position He will pull you down.” Isaiah 22:19
Shebna was driven out of office and from his glorious self-righteousness as an administrator over the kingdom of Judah. The Lord would pull him down.
Today, the Lord is bringing the wrath of His judgment against Israel, and the administrators will be driven from office and pulled down from their influential positions. As Ezekiel prophesied about, “Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Because you have all become dross, therefore behold, I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. As men gather silver, bronze, iron, lead, and tin into the midst of a furnace, to blow fire on it, to melt it; so I will gather you in My anger and in My fury, and I will leave you there and melt you. Yes, I will gather you and blow on you with the fire of My wrath, and you will be melted in its midst.” Ezekiel 22:19-21
Our Lord Jesus says this about Jerusalem, Israel, “See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you will see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ” Matthew 23:38-39 The desolation of Jerusalem is described on the post on the Day After the Battle of Armageddon from Ezekiel 39.
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
