“The burden against Moab…” Isaiah 15:1a

Isaiah prophesies of the heavy load of God’s wrath and judgment coming against Moab.

The post on Isaiah 14:28-32 spoke about the judgment of Philistia, which is the modern day Gaza Strip, on the west side of the kingdom of Judah. In this post, the judgment is coming against Moab, modern day Jordan, on the east side of the kingdom of Judah. Judah was sandwiched by her enemies, Moab and Philistia, as seen on the map below, to the left. Moab/Jordan is east of the Dead Sea, or Salt Sea, as seen on both maps below.

Not much has changed for Israel since the days of Isaiah, as she is surrounded by Muslim nations that doesn’t welcome the independence of the State of Israel. The Gaza Strip and Jordan are both Muslim countries. Jordan is a full member of the United Nations while the Gaza Strip has “observer status” and is recognized by the majority of UN members. The “Two-State Solution” would create a new state of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, somewhat like Israel was declared a state in 1948. That “Two State Solution” is called the Palestinian State and would live side by side with what would be left of Israel.

On the map below, to the left, Philistia [Gaza Strip] is seen in the red. Moab [Jordan] is seen in the purple. On the map to the right, the West Bank is seen in the white area, within Israel. The Gaza Strip is seen in the white area, southwest corner of Israel and bordering the Mediterranean Sea. From that, you can see what the Palestinian State would be by combining the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. The United Nations support the “Two State Solution” and Israel is vehemently opposed.

“Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste and destroyed, because in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste
and destroyed…” Isaiah 15:1
b

The heavy burden against Moab involves Ar and Kir. Ar was a city near the Arnon River, and the river is seen on the map below. Compare that to the map above, to the left, and you can see how the Arnon River separated Moab from the northern territories. Rivers in those days were protection from invading armies so Ar was somewhat like a watch tower, an “early detection system” for Moab. Kir was the capital of Moab, and as we know, capitals are places where the seat of government rests. The Lord vowed to destroy Ar and Kir, which would destroy their early detection system on the river and would destroy their command center in Kir.

Today, the Lord vows to destroy this present world system by destroying their early detection system and their seat of government. Their early detection system comes through the beast that governs by giving people uncanny knowledge, heightened intuition, etc. That is the “river” used to divide those who serve the beast from those who do not, to exclude belief in God, reject faith in Jesus Christ, and to oppose welcoming the presence of the Holy Spirit. The capital of the government of the beast is the power center of the beast, which is destroyed in the Fifth Plague of Revelations 16:10-11. At that time, no longer will people be empowered with uncanny knowledge and heightened intuition.

“He has gone up to the temple and Dibon, to the high places to weep. Moab will wail over Nebo and over Medeba; On all their heads will be baldness, and every beard cut off. In their streets they will clothe themselves with sackcloth; On the tops of their houses and in their streets everyone will wail, weeping bitterly.” Isaiah 15:2-3

Dibon, also known as Dimon, was the place of a temple of the false god of Moab, and high places were traditionally places where false gods were worshipped. Instead of worship, they go there to weep over their destruction. Today, the temple of the false god of the global culture is the temple of God, our body. The beast sits in the temple of God, as if it is God, by giving people what to speak, do, think, and feel, and is the one “…who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 Click here for a post on that subject. With the power center of the beast destroyed in the Fifth Plague, there will be only weeping and mourning in the temple occupied by the beast.

Nebo is the same place where Moses went to for seeing the promised land, as quoted, “Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo… Then the Lord said to him, “This is the land of which I swore to give Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have caused you to see it with your eyes…” Deuteronomy 34:1, 4 Today, the global government and it’s global culture are looking at their promised land, an earthly Garden of Eden, “A day of darkness and gloominess…a people come, great and strong, the like of whom has never been…a fire devours before them, and behind them a flame burns; The land is like the Garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness…” Joel 2:2-3 Their “heavenly” view will collapse, as described in Revelations 18.

Medeba represents the global population of the beast, a global city that wails over the collapse of the power center of the beast, the destruction of their empowerment with uncanny knowledge, etc., and the collapse of global economic system.

On the heads of the global population will be baldness and every beard cut off while wearing sackcloth…representing mourning, shame, humiliation. No longer will they have the attitude that says, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” Revelations 13:4 Instead, our Lord Jesus will return as King of kings. The culture of the beast will be wailing from the housetops, where they can be seen and heard by everyone, weeping bitterly…their eternal destination being in hell.

“Heshbon and Elealeh will cry out, their voice will be heard as far as Jahaz; Therefore the armed soldiers of Moab will cry out; His life will be burdensome to him.” Isaiah 15:4

Heshbon and Elealea were prominent cities of Moab, cities that upheld the functioning of Moab. Those cities served as watchtowers on the northern border. Their destruction came and they cried out because of their doom. Today, there are prominent cities in each nation around the world that represent the interests and power of the global government of the beast. In a sense, they are the watchtowers in each nation to ensure the interests of the government of the beast are being met. When the power center of the beast is plunged into darkness in the Fifth Plague, those cities will be crying out within the desperation of being powerless.

The cries of the prominent cities will be heard as far as Jahaz, meaning the word spread far and wide. That is exactly what will happen when the global economy collapses, as described in Revelations 18. “The kings of the earth who committed fornication and lived luxuriously with her will weep and lament for her, when they see the smoke of her burning, standing at a distance for fear of her torment…“They threw dust on their heads and cried out, weeping and wailing, and saying, ‘Alas, alas, that great city, in which all who had ships on the sea became rich by her wealth! For in one hour she is made desolate.” Revelations 18:9-10, 19

When the prominent cities begin to cry out from around the world, that will be a sure sign that not even the global military will be able to come to the rescue of the government of the beast. As quoted, “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.” Zachariah 4:6 The life of those of the global culture will be burdensome to them, no empowerment from the beast, no military to defend them, and total chaos in the governing structure. The Battle of Armageddon of the Sixth Plague is a failure for the global government and ushers in the return of Jesus Christ.

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25
, 3:1
