The Faithful Witnesses & 7th Trumpet

Revelation 11

The Sixth Trumpet has sounded (second woe) back in Revelation 9:13-21. It is a time when “1/3” of the world’s population is killed by the violence of war machines. What happens in chapter eleven of Revelation is happening during that time. It is also a time when the Sixth Plague appears on the earth which is the Battle of Armageddon. The faithful witnesses mentioned in this post are living during that time of extreme violence.

This chapter of Revelation is letting us know the course that the followers of Jesus Christ are on. It begins with the churches falling away from the Gospel Message and embracing the beast which forms what they think, feel, do, and speak. It enables the image of the beast to live and speak through people as they live by “Satan’s deep secrets.” They are being conformed to their place within the “democratic” society as they are groomed to the mark of the beast by what they are given to say and do. For the followers of Jesus Christ, it all ends with eternal life in the new heaven and new earth of the New Jerusalem.

Presently, we followers of Jesus Christ are living in times when the beast with power over physiology is able to overcome Christians, as described in Revelations 13:7-8, except the faithful few whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of life. However, a day comes when the power center of the beast plunges into darkness (Revelation 16:10-11) and it no longer functions. The global government and its global culture will be rendered powerless. All of the uncanny knowledge, heightened intuition, extraordinary skills, amazing physical feats and accomplishments, etc. no longer exists. The image of the beast is no longer able to live and speak through people and the mark of the beast is out of commission.

During the blackout of the power center of the beast (Fifth Plague), swarms around the world bring torment to everyone without God’s seal on the forehead (Fifth Trumpet). Again, we see the faithful few Christians on the earth during the Fifth Plague. Those who were governing by and living for the image and mark of the beast are being severely tormented. Christians are spared that torment, but a global war breaks out which is known as Armageddon (Sixth Plague and Sixth Trumpet). The swarms reappear in this chapter of Revelation (within the period of the Sixth Plague), and they put to death the faithful witnesses who hold to the testimony of Jesus.

During the global war of Armageddon, the faithful witnesses of Jesus Christ are mercilessly slaughtered, and their bodies are left to rot on the streets. After this time, Jesus Christ comes back [Matthew 24:29-31] and resurrects the dead to be with Him forever (first resurrection), and those who are still alive are also taken at the exact same time to be with Him forever [1 Thessalonians 4:13-18]. We all live with Jesus Christ for “1000 years” on this earth. That is “1000 years” without Satan, the beast, and the second beast (false prophet). Satan is locked away for those “1000 years” but the other two have been permanently gotten rid of and thrown into the death of the lake of fire. After the “1000 years”, Satan is released for an extremely short time when he once again tries to bring chaos to the resurrected Christians. After that very short rebellion, Satan is also thrown into the lake of fire, then the judgment of everyone comes (second resurrection). After the judgment, the new heaven and new earth comes. That is when we leave this earth forever and enter the new heaven and earth in the eternal city of the New Jerusalem.

All of this happens after the corruption of the churches, as begins this chapter of Revelations 11.

Measuring the Church “And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein.'” Revelation 11:1

To measure the Temple of God is to measure where we stand as the Temple of the Holy Spirit. “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.” 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 In today’s world, it is more than obvious that our body is not honored as the home of the Holy Spirit.

The last time that the churches were measured is in Revelation chapters two and three, known as the Seven Churches. Five of the churches have left the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the other two are those remaining faithful to Christ and are slandered and persecuted. During the whole time that the beast is on this earth, “42 months,” the followers of Christ are trampled on, “the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.” Revelation 11:2b. That also includes the nation of Israel, which has been trampled on since about the beginning of their existence in 1948.

But the court, which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles:” Revelation 11:2a.

Today, the testimony of Jesus Christ has been thoroughly corrupted within the churches as they choose to live by “Satan’s secret knowledge,” which is by the thing which forms what people think, feel, do, and say. They are outside the temple; they are not the temple of the Holy Spirit. Although the churches are lively, full of activity, and wealthy, they are dead to Christ and are spiritually wretched. Those who are faithful to Christ are few in number and have little strength. The rest of the world are unbelievers, and they follow the global culture of the “democratic” society in every city around the world. “All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb.” Revelation 13:8 These are those who trample on the Holy Spirit, blaspheme God, and discard the need for Jesus Christ.

“42 months” is the amount of time that the beast exists in this world. It came into existence immediately after WW2 when the United Nations was established as described in Daniel 8. It enables the government of the beast to exist, so we are within the “42 months”. It is the engine of the global government of the beast (United Nations) and lives within the temple of God, our body, as if it is God. It does that by forming thoughts, feelings, words, and behaviors. The United Nations derives its power and authority through the masses who live by it, thus they boast about “democratic” rights and freedoms. “The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months.” Revelation 13:5

The Faithful Witnesses are Given Power in times of the Sixth Plague and Sixth Trumpet. “And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.” “These have power to shut heaven, that it rains not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.” ” Revelation 11:3, 6

The power of the faithful witnesses comes at a time when the power center of the beast has been plunged into darkness, as described in the Fifth Plague. The faithful witnesses mentioned in this chapter are living in the time of the Sixth Plague and Sixth Trumpet just before the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. With the power of the beast being powerless, God gives those Christians more power than what has ever been known in modern history. The thing which forms thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and words will no longer be functioning. That means the image of the beast will be powerless to live and speak through people, which means the mark of the beast is void and useless. There will be no more power over physiology through the beast.

While the faithful witnesses within the Sixth Plague and Sixth Trumpet have more power than ever before, it is a time of much sadness and mourning. They live in a world torn apart by global tribulation, disease, violence, poverty, persecution, and even during the Battle of Armageddon. The faithful witnesses are lifting up the testimony of Jesus in that environment and with much mourning in their heart. The spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus, so every single Christian has a word of prophecy though the Gospel of Christ, the word of God, and the Holy Spirit. “…the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Revelation 19:10

For “1260 days” the followers of Christ will be lifting up the testimony of Jesus, which is “42 months.” The faithful few who hold to the testimony of Jesus will be sharing the Gospel the whole time the beast is in this world. Revelation 13:5 says the beast will exist in the world for “42 months,” which is “1260 days.”

Immediately after WW2, the government of the beast came into existence through the United Nations. Christianity and those who govern by the beast have existed mournfully together ever since. Likewise, the Jewish nation has been afflicted since its establishment in 1948.

Today in 2022, severe conflict exists between the “right wing” (which includes Christianity) and the anti-Christian global agenda of the “left wing”. We are seeing the “tip of the iceberg” of Christian persecution even as we are within the “42 months” of the beast’s reign over this world. We know we are within the “42 months” because the global government is here and the thing which forms thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and words is here. It enables the image of the beast to live and speak through people. By what people say and do they are conformed to their place in life as they are groomed to the mark of the beast.

The faithful witnesses mentioned in this chapter are living within the very last “3 1/2 days” on earth before the coming of Jesus Christ. However, all of Christianity is under affliction by the government of the beast for about “41 months 26 1/2 days,” but the affliction intensifies like a tightening vise as the days progress. The last “3 1/2 days” on this earth are unbearably horrid, but the faithful few continue to hold to the testimony of Jesus.

The faithful witnesses are the two olive trees and two candlesticks. The description of the faithful witnesses is given in this verse, “These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.” Revelation 11:4

This verse plainly says who/what the two witnesses are: They are the two olive trees and two candlesticks.

The candlesticks are the churches, the candlesticks/lampstands represent the Churches, but the two specific candlesticks mentioned are the two faithful churches of the seven mentioned in Revelation 2-3. To see a description of the two faithful witnesses, click here for a post on the Church of Smyrna and click here for a post on the Church of Philadelphia. The two olive trees represent an anointing of the Holy Spirit and service to Jesus Christ. The Church is every Believer because we are the temple of the Holy Spirit, and we make up the body of Christ. The faithful few faces tribulation and poverty, but we are anointed with oil to continually serve God and to lift up the name of Jesus through the Holy Spirit. This chapter of Revelation is specifically referring to the Christians who live during the Sixth Plague and Sixth Trumpet.

The two faithful witnesses are the Church and the Holy Spirit, which refers to every born-again believer as the living Church living in the presence of the Holy Spirit. “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?” 1 Corinthians 6:19“… the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says…” Acts 7:48

Our Lord Jesus returns after the global tribulation, and at this time there are faithful but few Christians all around the world, and He gathers every one to be with Him, as quoted, “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” Matthew 24:29-31

If anyone hurts the faithful few witnesses of the Sixth Plague and Sixth Trumpet, they respond defensively with the fiery tongue of the Holy Spirit, “And if any man will hurt them, fire proceeds out of their mouth, and devours their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.Revelation 11:5. There is no physical violence coming from the faithful witnesses of Jesus Christ, but while alive on this earth during the very last days of this planet, they are able to make things difficult on the anti-Christian masses of the world. The Christians of those very last days on earth are killing with the power of the Holy Spirit.

Death of the Faithful Witnesses. “Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the bottomless pit will attack them and overpower and kill them.” Revelation 11:7

This is the second time the “beast from the bottomless pit” is mentioned in Revelation. The first time is within the Fifth Trumpet in Revelation chapter 9. At that time, they were swarms over all the earth to torment everyone who did not have the seal of God on their forehead, which would include everyone who lives by the entity which forms what they think, feel, do, and say. It enables the image of the best to live and speak through people, so the “beast from the bottomless pit” was tormenting everyone living by the mark of the beast. That coincides with the Fifth Plague when the power center of the beast is plunged into blackness. It’s as if the “beast from the bottomless pit” was allowed to take vengeance against the powerless government of the beast. The Sixth Plague, with the Battle of Armageddon, comes at least “5 months later” as verified by this verse “Their power was to hurt men five months.” Revelation 9:10b. After the powerless global government of the beast is tormented for “five months,” it is the time of the Battle of Armageddon.

The “beast from the bottomless beast” transitions from what it was doing in the “Fifth Trumpet” to what it does in the “Sixth Plague.” The faithful witnesses live within the time of the “Sixth Plague.” So, “five months” after the “beast of the bottomless pit” was tormenting those living for the government of the beast, now those swarms are global and overpowering and killing the faithful witnesses who hold to the testimony of Jesus Christ. It appears the “beast from the bottomless pit” does not like to be subjected to any form of authority. It was allowed to take worldwide vengeance against the powerless government of the beast, and now it returns to globally overpower and kill the faithful witnesses. During that time, the faithful witnesses are the last of any form of authority within a world ravished by lawlessness, tribulation, violence, and war. They spread the testimony of Jesus, but when their testimony is finished, they are killed.

The life of the faithful witnesses is spared in the Fifth Trumpet, so their merciless slaughter happens during the Sixth Trumpet and Sixth Plague, which includes the global Battle of Armageddon. The outright murder of God’s people happens around and during the final global war and that is just days away from the return of Jesus Christ. The return of the Lord Jesus is just a few “days” away from these two events, 1) The battle of Armageddon 2) The slaughter of those who are faithful to the testimony of Jesus.

Bodies of Faithful Witnesses Lay in Streets then Called to Heaven“And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.” Revelation 11:8

Sodom and Egypt are a spiritual place where the bodies of the faithful witnesses lie in the street. Today, followers of Jesus Christ are aware of the spiritual meaning of Sodom and Egypt. Sodom relates to homosexuality and moral corruption of all types. Egypt relates to being held captive against the will of God as the Gospel of Christ is prohibited from spreading freely through society. Even today, we are seeing the great city of Sodom and Egypt, it is called the global “democratic” society of the beast. We are held captive to the thing which forms what we think, feel, do, and say. On top of that, the LGBQT+ lifestyles grow to staggering proportions, as does moral corruption of all types. Today, the body of Christianity is seen lying in their streets, and during the period of the Sixth Plague it will be individual bodies of Christians left lying in the streets.

We see the great city of “Sodom and Egypt” appearing today, so imagine what this world will be like for the faithful witnesses of Jesus Christ just “3 1/2 days” before His coming. When the last “3 1/2 days” on earth arrives, all Seven Seals have been opened [Revelation 6 and 8], six of the Seven Trumpets have sounded [Revelation 8, 9, and 11] and six of the Seven Plagues [Revelation 16] have been unleashed. The world is a horrid place, and the only thing left to happen is the sound of the Seventh Trumpet (The return of Jesus Christ) and the unleashing of the Seventh Plague (the total destruction of this world’s system).

Today, Jesus Christ is being crucified again as the faithful few, who hold to His testimony, are being crucified. In this world of moral corruption, the hands of Christians are nailed to the Cross, the feet of Christians are nailed to the Cross, the head of Christians has a crown of thorns as we are browbeaten within our thoughts, and our heart is pierced to bring us heartache, mourning, and sadness. In the last “3 1/2 days,” the faithful witnesses are about to breathe their last as they say with Christ from the Cross, “It is finished.”

After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!” Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.John 19:28-30

“Then those from the peoples, tribes, tongues, and nations will see their dead bodies three-and-a-half days, and not allow their dead bodies to be put into graves.” Revelation 11:9

Even today, it is very difficult for those who live by the teachings of the Bible to have an honorable and respectful funeral service. It is certainly no surprise that in the last few days on this earth Christians would not even be given a funeral service.

The verse above makes it clear that what happens to the faithful witnesses of Jesus Christ in the last “3 1/2 days” on this earth is a global occurrence. It involves peoples, tribes, tongues, and nations. The “3 1/2 days” is a symbolic number the same way that the reign of the beast on this earth for “42 months” is a symbolic number. It shows us the proportion of the last few “days” on this earth compared to the total time which the beast is on this earth. In that light, during the last few “days” which Christians are on this earth, those who live for the global culture of the beast are going to leave dead Christians lying on the street.

It’s easy to envision the faithful witnesses of Jesus Christ being slaughtered within the war of the Battle of Armageddon with nobody bothering to move nor bury them. Regardless of how long the Battle of Armageddon lasts, the killing of Christians will last for “3 1/2 days” and be left to rot in the streets of “Sodom and Egypt.” Compared to what the world looks like after the opening of the Seven Seals, the sounding of six Trumpets, and unleashing of six Plagues, the bodies of Christians on the streets would be no surprise.

Those in heaven, who were killed for living for Jesus Christ, cry out to God asking when He would avenge their murder, and God replies that would happen after the persecution, death, and murder of Christians has peaked, “When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?” Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters, were killed just as they had been.” Revelation 6:9-11

The global culture of the beast acts like it’s Christmas when a Christian is killed. “And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, and send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.” Revelation 11:10

The word of God reveals to us the nature of the global government of the beast and its global culture, such as knowing about global warming over 2000 years ago, as described in Revelation 16:8-9. Those who live for this world culture despises hearing about the need for repentance and the judgment beyond the grave and the need to serve God through Jesus Christ. This is torment to them. They want the Gospel of Christ and Christianity to disappear because they are tormented by those who criticize their culture of atheism. They rejoice and celebrate one another when a faithful follower of Christ is killed and when Christianity disappears from their culture. Jesus says, “Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.” John 16:20

For those of the global culture, the death of Christians is like Christmas, and they send gifts to one another, rejoicing, and celebrating as Christians are killed. Sending gifts also comes in the form of pouring praise, esteem, and rejoicing on those who bring harm and hardship to those who live for God through Jesus Christ.

The hatred for Christians and rejoicing over their death is especially prominent between the Sixth and Seventh Trumpets of Revelation 16. This chapter 11 of Revelations happens between the Sixth and Seventh Trumpets, and the Battle of Armageddon happens sometime in the Sixth Plague. The world is in utter chaos, turmoil, and lawlessness and the last thing they want to hear is about Jesus Christ as their Savior, they are tormented by hearing they need to embrace the Holy Spirit. This is a time when the power center of the beast had been destroyed in the Fifth Plague of Revelation 16:10-11, which is the power center of the global government and its global culture. The global government and its global culture are no longer empowered with uncanny knowledge, heightened intuition, extraordinary skills and talents, amazing physical abilities etc. Christians will be targeted by them.

Those who had their hopes built on an earthly utopia through the goals of the United Nations (global government of the beast) are filled with despite, malice and vengeance against Christianity because their global “democracy” looks like a 10.0 earthquake has struck. Their hope of an earthly utopia is gone. This planet is devasted by the events of the Seven Trumpets of Revelation 8, 9, and 11 and Seven Plagues of Revelation 16.

While there will be rejoicing over the deaths of Christians in this time of global lawlessness, there will also be very much rebellion against the now powerless global government. This creates the environment for the rise of the Battle of Armageddon.

Resurrection and ascension of the faithful witnesses. “Now after the three-and-a-half days the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and great fear fell on those who saw them. And they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they ascended to heaven in a cloud, and their enemies saw them.

At the very end of life on this earth, Jesus Christ is coming back. It will be at the end of the “3 1/2” days of outright killing of Christians, leaving them to rot on the streets, and acting like it’s Christmas when a Christian is killed. When the Lord Jesus comes back, He is going to breathe life into us to resurrect us from the dead, and we are going to stand on our feet in our new redeemed eternal body of flesh and bones. He is going to call us home to be with Him as He says, “Come up here.” The enemies of those faithful to Christ will witness our resurrection and ascension into Heaven, and they will know what fear feels like.

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

In the same hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell. In the earthquake seven thousand people were killed, and the rest were afraid and gave glory to the God of heaven.” Revelation 11:11-13

The coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is with earthly and global calamities. When He comes, the world is already in shambles, and the population of the world has been drastically reduced by disease, famine, war, lawlessness, violence, animal attacks, and death of every type. The earthquake adds to the already present destruction, and those on this earth actually see Him and those He resurrects from the dead, they will be terrified and begin to give glory to God. Whenever there is the opportunity to repent and glorify the living God and Creator of heaven and earth, do it. Never think it is too late or that you are too wretched to come to God through Jesus Christ. Jesus always has His arms open to you.

The three woes summarized. The second woe has passed; the third woe is coming soon.Revelation 11:14

The three “woes” are the sounding of the Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Trumpets, as quoted, “Woe, woe, woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound!” Revelation 8:13.

The first woe is the “beast from the bottomless pit” which brought torment to everyone except those who had the seal of God in their forehead. Revelation 9:1-11.

The second woe is the massive global army which killed “1/3” of the world’s population and runs through Revelation 11. But even after the second “woe” people still refuse to repent and come to God through Jesus Christ. Revelation 9:13-21.

The third “woe” is the wrath of God on the day which Jesus Christ comes back as King of kings and Lord of lords. Revelation 11:15-19.

The Seventh Trumpet Sounds and Christ returns as the King of kings. The Seventh Trumpet is the one all Christians are looking forward to, the day the Lord Jesus comes back.

“Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!” Revelation 11:15

When the kingdoms of this world becomes the kingdoms of God and Jesus Christ, it doesn’t mean He plans to remodel this earth and make it His home. It means this world’s system is done and the battle against God and Jesus Christ is over. It means God and Jesus is victorious over Satan, the beast, and the second beast (false prophet). The global government of the beast is done, the image of the beast is done, and the mark of the beast is done. Jesus Christ is now ready to create the new heaven and earth where all who hold to His testimony will live eternally in the New Jerusalem.

“And the twenty-four elders who sat before God on their thrones fell on their faces and worshiped God,” Revelation 11:16 The twenty-four elders are the Twelve Apostles and one representative each from the Twelve Tribes of Israel. The Twelve Apostles were instrumental in establishing the Gospel of Christ around the world. The Twelve Tribes of Israel were instrumental in establishing the “scarlet cord” and the prophecies of the Old Testament to point to the Lord Jesus as the Messiah and Christ of God. The following is what they say on the day Jesus Christ comes back,

“We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty,
The One who is and who was and who is to come,
Because You have taken Your great power and reigned.
The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come,
And the time of the dead, that they should be judged,
And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints,
And those who fear Your name, small and great,
And should destroy those who destroy the earth.”
Revelation 11:17-18

“Then the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple. And there were lightnings, noises, thunderings, an earthquake, and great hail.” Revelation 11:19

When the temple of God is opened, we see the ark of the covenant. The ark of the covenant represents the promise God made with us through Jesus Christ, which is this, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 The lightnings, noises, thunderings, an earthquake, and great hail is what is in store for those who choose to live by the entity which forms what they think, feel, do, and say. This world will be totally destroyed, and the unBelievers will have their eternity in hell.

Here are the details of the return of Jesus Christ:

  1. The beast and the second beast (false prophet) are defeated and thrown into hell.
  2. We reign with the Lord Jesus on this earth for a thousand years (first resurrection), Satan is bound for those thousand years, he is loosed for a very short time and rebels again, then is defeated and thrown into hell. Then everyone who has died is resurrected (second resurrection) to be judged according to their deeds.
  3. The New heaven and new earth are created, and the eternal New Jerusalem is ready for all who hold to the testimony of Jesus.

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25
