“For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
Revelation 19:10
- Who is able to understand what’s written in the Seven Seals?
- Jesus Christ receives the book of the Seven Seals.
- The twenty-four elders and living creatures bow before Jesus in praise and with our prayers.
- Blessing, honor, glory, and power to the Lamb of God.
Who is able to understand what’s written in the Seven Seals? “And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals.” Revelation 5:1 God is the One with the Scroll in His right hand, which will be received by Jesus Christ to open. Today, the Scroll is the Holy Bible, and in this specific text is the book of the Revelation. As we read the Revelation, we see the Seven Seals mentioned in Revelation 6 and Revelation 8
“Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?” And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it.” Revelation 5:2-3 No one is able to open the book of Revelation to unlock the mysteries bound within the seals. No one on this earth nor anyone found in heaven will be able to unlock the seals of the Revelation. Even the thing which gives uncanny knowledge and heightened intuition will not venture to open the seals of the Revelation. The masses around the world who welcome the thing which forms what they think, feel, say, and do will not even look at it.
“So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it.” Revelation 5:4 Most specifically, those unworthy includes everyone who lives in sin by denying that God exists, by rejecting the remission of sin through Jesus Christ, and ridiculing the Holy Spirit. The Apostle John ached and cried to know the mystery the Revelation given to Him, and through Jesus Christ, John would be able to reveal to us what is within the seven seals.
“But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.” Revelation 5:5 Jesus Christ is the Lion from the Tribe of Judah and He is the Root of David. He is the One who is able to reveal the mysteries of the Revelation and to open the Seven Seals. When Jesus Christ lives in us, He enlightens us as to what the Seven Seals mean for us today. The testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of prophecy, so if we want to know where the world is within prophecy all we need to do is look at where Jesus is within the world. From that, the seals of the book of the Revelation are opened.
We know the First Seal has been opened because of what we are seeing in the world today. The First Seal is the one which brings the thing which forms what we think, feel, do, and speak as it enables the image of the beast to live and speak through people in every city around the world. People are groomed to the mark of the beast by what they say and do. Everything else in the Revelation is a result of that first seal opening. It is definitely anti-Christian as it opposes belief in God and discards the need for the remission of sin. Any follower of Jesus Christ today knows the affliction, hardships, and difficulties we face for living by the Gospel of Christ and in the Spirit of Holiness. Jesus Christ is indeed opening the mysteries of the Revelation.
Also, Jesus Christ is the only one who can open the Seven Seals in the sense that only He, as the Lion of Judah and Root of David, has the authority to unleash calamity onto the earth. Our Lord Jesus has been given the authority to bring judgment to the earth.
Jesus Christ receives the book of the Seven Seals. “And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne.” Revelation 5:6-7
The Lamb which had been slain is the Lord Jesus Christ who was the sacrificial Lamb of God sent to earth to atone for sin. When He died on the Cross, the veil separating us from fellowship with God was removed. We now fellowship with His Spirit by the remission of sin and we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. We are able to say that it is not us but Christ who lives in us, and the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy (Revelation 19:10). That is how the seals of the Revelation are opened to those who live for the Lord Jesus. Jesus Christ took the Scroll from the right hand of God His Father in preparation to open them.
Jesus will also open those seals in the sense that He has been given the authority to unleash judgment onto the earth. Jesus Christ has the power and eyes of God (Seven Eyes and Seven Horns) and are on every continent of the world. The Gospel of Christ is also global at the time the Seven Seals are opened. The Gospel of Christ is already worldwide today, and the First Seal is already open. The opening of the Seven Seals is a global occurrence. The global government of the beast collapses in horrific fashion.
The twenty-four elders and living creatures bow before Jesus in praise and with our prayers. “Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.” Revelation 5:8
The Four Living Creatures are described in Daniel 4. The Twenty-Four Elders are the Twelve Apostles and one representative each from the Twelve Tribes of Israel. Those twenty-four are the reason we have the Old and New Testament which points to Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God. They all bow in reverence to the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, and playing music of Holiness to Him. They all have bowls of the prayers of the saints, so we know our prayers are already heard and the opening of the Seven Seals is the answer to those prayers. This global anti-Christian world will be destroyed, and we will inherit eternal life in the New Jerusalem.
We can be glad that God already has our prayers because today the thing that has power over physiology intrudes upon our thoughts and feelings to mock every prayer we might have. Those who live by the thing forming what they think, feel, do, and say have uncanny knowledge and heightened intuition to verbally publicize what we think or feel. It is blasphemy against God. Even so, God has our prayers stored in bowls in Heaven, and has already opened the First Seal on the way to global chaos and destruction.
As followers of Jesus Christ, we rejoice that He is worthy to open the Seals. We are able to recite what is quoted here, “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; For You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.” Revelation 5:9-10
We will reign on this earth with Jesus Christ for “1000 years” as described in Revelation 20. Then comes the final judgment of those who rejected Jesus Christ, also described Revelation 20. After that, the new heaven and new earth are created, and the New Jerusalem becomes our eternal home, as described in Revelation 21.
“Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands…” Revelation 5:11
Blessing, honor, glory, and power to the Lamb of God. “And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;” Revelation 5:11 The number of people in Heaven are innumerable, and as followers of Jesus Christ we will be there among them, “Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.” Revelation 5:12
“And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.” Revelation 5:13
“And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped Him that liveth for ever and ever.” Revelation 5:14
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
