“Woe to him who strives with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth!” Isaiah 45:9a
The Lord God is the Creator of all. Unfortunately, the majority of people in this world live against belief in God the Creator. One of their main quotes is, “If there is a God then why is the world filled with war and violence?” The Lord says to them that it is a woe to speak against Him but allow those who do violence to fight among themselves.
The Lord says to the unbelievers and to all of us, “Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth!” Potsherds are broken pieces of clay pottery, which represents those who are broken regarding their belief in God the Creator, broken in their ability to acknowledge the need for Christ Jesus, and broken in their willingness to embrace the presence of the Holy Spirit. They do not live by the Gospel of peace and are bent towards hostility to one another, “Everyone will seize the hand of his neighbor, and raise his hand against his neighbor’s hand;” Zachariah 14:13 Click for post on Zachariah 14.“For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.” Matthew 24:7 Click for posts on Matthew 24. Our Lord Jesus says to us, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.” Matthew 15:13-14
Jesus Christ restores peace to us, and God calls us to Him, calls us to peace, “God has called us to peace.” 1 Corinthians 7:15 “…be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.” Titus 3:1-2
The Lord raised up Cyrus to free the Israelites from captivity to the Babylonians. Cyrus, of Persia, was a man of war and violence who conquered the Babylonian Empire. As a result, Cyrus freed the Israelites, supported them in rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem and in rebuilding Jerusalem. Cyrus was the potsherd that was striving with the potsherds of the earth, the potsherds being the nations he conquered.
God the Creator called Cyrus by name and gave him the treasures of darkness, “Thus says the Lord to His anointed,
To Cyrus, whose right hand I have held—To subdue nations before him…I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that I, the Lord, Who call you by your name, Am the God of Israel. For Jacob My servant’s sake, and Israel My elect, I have even called you by your name; I have named you, though you have not known Me.” Isaiah 45:1, 3-4 Click for a post on Isaiah 45:1-7 and also Isaiah 41:25-29, The treasures of darkness and hidden riches would have been the treasures and riches of the nations he conquered.
- Released the Israelites from captivity: “I will raise up Cyrus in righteousness, and I will make all his ways straight. He will rebuild My city and set My exiles free, but not for payment or reward, says the LORD of Hosts” Isaiah 45:13
- Supported the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem: “In the first year of King Cyrus, the king issued a decree concerning the temple of God in Jerusalem: ‘Let the temple be rebuilt as a place to offer sacrifices and let its foundations be laid.’” – Ezra 6:3
- Returned articles to the temple in Jerusalem: “Also, the gold and silver articles of the house of God, which Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple that was in Jerusalem and carried into the temple of Babylon—those King Cyrus took from the temple of Babylon, and they were given to one named Sheshbazzar, whom he had made governor. And he said to him, ‘Take these articles; go, carry them to the temple site that is in Jerusalem, and let the house of God be rebuilt on its former site.’ Ezra 5:14-15
“Will the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’ Or will your handiwork say, ‘He has no hands’?” Isaiah 45:9b
We can envision the Israelites responding to the prophecies concerning Cyrus, which were spoken before the birth of Cyrus and years before Cyrus conquered the Babylonian Empire and set the Israelites free. Cyrus was far, far from the ways of the Israelites, never had a clue who they were, never had a thought about the Living God, never heard of the Ten Commandments, and never participated in animal sacrifices to atone for sin. Yet, Cyrus would be the one to liberate the Israelites from their earthly captivity. We can hear the people of Israel saying to the Lord in astonishment and bewilderment, “What are you making?” However, the Lord is not limited in what His hands can do with His creation. He is not limited in what or who He can raise up as an instrument in His hand. As His creation, being His handiwork, how can we say, “He has no hands”
Today, we see how the world is being formed into the government of the beast with its global culture dominating in every city around the world. They serve the power of darkness through the beast that has power over physiology to give what to say, do, think, and feel. Many might wonder how the Lord can allow that, and He is questioned with astonishment and bewilderment, “What are you making?” The short answer is that the government of the beast and its global culture are the potsherd striving with the potsherds. In other words, global turbulence, chaos, and violence overshadows them, which leads to the Battle of Armageddon of Revelations 16:11-16. The Lord is not going to allow their earthly Garden of Eden to succeed, “A day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, like the morning clouds spread over the mountains. A people come, great and strong, the like of whom has never been; Nor will there ever be any such after them…A fire devours before them, and behind them a flame burns; The land is like the Garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness;” Joel 2:2-3
As His handiwork, we see how His hands are busy in this world today, and how can anyone say, “He has no hands“. Global warming is already in the world and is the Fourth Plague of Revelations 16:8-9.
“Woe to him who says to his father, ‘What are you begetting?’ Or to the woman, ‘What have you brought forth?’” Isaiah 45:10
God the Creator is the Father over all of His children. We should never question Him about what He brings forth upon this world by asking, “What are you begetting?” In the same way, the Israelites were not to question what God was doing by raising up Cyrus, a Persian Gentile and conqueror, to bring their liberation from Babylonian captivity. Click for a post on Isaiah 45:1-7.
A woman brings forth from the seed of the man, in the same way that the instrument in the hand of God brings forth the will of God upon the earth. In that light, Cyrus was the woman bringing forth what God had impregnated him to bring forth on this earth. The Israelites were not to question, scrutinize, criticize, nor judge Cyrus about what he was doing in bringing so much conquering, war, and violence in the world. In the same way, we are not to challenge the governing powers by confronting them about bringing forth the government of the beast and its global culture on this earth. As our Lord Jesus says, “But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.” Luke 22:53
Abortion is never an option with the Lord our God. We should never choose to abort an unborn child because we think the birth of the child would be undesirable. Some babies are killed because a child is diagnosed with a physical defect of some sort. Medical staff, friends, family members, etc. asks the father, “What are you giving birth to?” If a woman brings to birth a child with a physical handicap, many may question the mother verbally or within themselves, “What have you brought forth?” Many unborn children are killed because of many various environmental circumstances that the parents find too challenging to raise a child in. Some unborn children are killed to avoid being a single parent, or to avoid giving birth to a specific man’s child, or due to an unwanted pregnancy from a sexual encounter with a stranger etc.
Nowadys, who hasn’t heard of “postpartum psychosis” that leads to the killing of newborns and young children within the family at that time. They are killed by the mother as some medical staff attest that it is due to a mental sickness within the mother. In the courts, defense attorneys seek a verdict of not guilty by the reason of not being criminally responsible. Prosecuting attorneys present scenarios where the mother simply gave up on being a mother, the child/children became too much of a burden, unwanted, and too much to bear.
Below are a few scriptures of the Lord speaking against the killing of the unborn;
“As for your nativity, on the day you were born your navel cord was not cut, nor were you washed in water to cleanse you; you were not rubbed with salt nor wrapped in swaddling cloths. No eye pitied you, to do any of these things for you, to have compassion on you; but you were thrown out into the open field, when you yourself were loathed on the day you were born. And when I passed by you and saw you struggling in your own blood, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ Yes, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’” Ezekiel 16:4-6 Click for post on Ezekiel 16:1-22.
“Before she was in labor, she gave birth; Before her pain came, she delivered a male child. Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things?…Will I bring to the time of birth, and not cause delivery?” says the Lord. “Will I who cause delivery shut up the womb?” says your God.” Isiah 66:7-9 .Click for post on Isaiah 66:7-9
“…for the children have come to birth, but there is no strength to bring them forth.” Isaiah 37:3 Click for a post on Isaiah 37:1-7.
“We have been with child, we have been in pain; We have, as it were, brought forth wind; We have not accomplished any deliverance in the earth, nor have the inhabitants of the world fallen.” Isaiah 26:16-18 To be with child and then to bring forth “wind” is an abomination to the Lord. That speaks of the intentional killing of the unborn.
“And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, which I did not command, nor did it come into My heart.” Jeremiah 7:31
“…you have slain My children and offered them up to them by causing them to pass through the fire?” Ezekiel 16:21 Ezekiel 16:1-22
“For Tophet was established of old, yes, for the king it is prepared. He has made it deep and large; Its pyre is fire with much wood; The breath of the Lord, like a stream of brimstone, kindles it.” Isaiah 30:33 Click for a post on Isaiah 30:29-33. “Tophet” had a lot of fires built for sacrificing children, but now those fires are prepared for the “king” of this present world system. That king is the beast that gives people what to speak, do, think, and feel. The place of that fire has been made deep and large, with much firewood, and the breath of the Lord is like a stream of brimstone that kindles it,
In the law Moses, the Israelites were specifically warned not to sacrifice their children to the false God of Molech, who was in Tophet, which is to warn us against abortion today, “And you will not let any of your descendants pass through the fire to Molech, nor will you profane the name of your God: I am the Lord.” Leviticus 18:21 “You will not worship the Lord your God in that way; for every abomination to the Lord which He hates they have done to their gods; for they burn even their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods. Deuteronomy 12:31
Josiah restored true worship by ending the sacrifice of children, “And he defiled Topheth, which is in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter pass through the fire to Molech.” 2 Kings 23:10
“For when you offer your gifts and make your sons pass through the fire, you defile yourselves with all your idols, even to this day. So will I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live,” says the Lord God, “I will not be inquired of by you. What you have in your mind will never be, when you say, ‘We will be like the Gentiles, like the families in other countries, serving wood and stone.’” Ezekiel 20:31-32 Ezekiel 20:27-49
“And she answered, “This woman said to me, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.’ So we boiled my son, and ate him. And I said to her on the next day, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him’; but she has hidden her son.” Now it happened, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he tore his clothes; and as he passed by on the wall, the people looked, and there underneath he had sackcloth on his body.” 2 Kings 6:28-30
“Therefore I also gave them up to statutes that were not good, and judgments by which they could not live; and I pronounced them unclean because of their ritual gifts, in that they caused all their firstborn to pass through the fire…” Ezekiel 20:25-26
“Now two women who were harlots came to the king, and stood before him. And one woman said, “O my lord, this woman and I dwell in the same house; and I gave birth while she was in the house. Then it happened, the third day after I had given birth, that this woman also gave birth. And we were together; no one was with us in the house, except the two of us in the house. And this woman’s son died in the night, because she lay on him. So she arose in the middle of the night and took my son from my side, while your maidservant slept, and laid him in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom. And when I rose in the morning to nurse my son, there he was, dead. But when I had examined him in the morning, indeed, he was not my son whom I had borne.” Then the other woman said, “No! But the living one is my son, and the dead one is your son.” And the first woman said, “No! But the dead one is your son, and the living one is my son.” Thus they spoke before the king. And the king said, “The one says, ‘This is my son, who lives, and your son is the dead one’; and the other says, ‘No! But your son is the dead one, and my son is the living one.’ ” Then the king said, “Bring me a sword.” So they brought a sword before the king. And the king said, “Divide the living child in two, and give half to one, and half to the other.” Then the woman whose son was living spoke to the king, for she yearned with compassion for her son; and she said, “O my lord, give her the living child, and by no means kill him!” But the other said, “Let him be neither mine nor yours, but divide him.” So the king answered and said, “Give the first woman the living child, and by no means kill him; she is his mother.” 1 Kings 3:16-27
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.
I am coming soon.
Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.’”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
