“The Lord is well pleased for His righteousness’ sake; He will exalt the law and make it honorable.” Isaiah 42:21

For the sake of His righteousness, the Lord is pleased to exalt the law and make it honorable. How did the Lord our God exalt the law of Moses? As born-again believers, we know the Old Testament is exalted through Christ Jesus. The Old Testament speaks of the coming of the Christ, whose name is Jesus. During the Exodus, the Israelites drank from the spiritual Rock, who was Christ, as Paul said through the Holy Spirit, “…all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.” 1 Corinthians 10:3-4 Moses regarded the reproach of Christ to be better than being an Egyptian, “By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.” Hebrews 11:24-26

Moses was raised as an Egyptian, adopted by the Pharoah’s daughter when he was a new-born babe, Exodus 2:1-10. He was even called an Egyptian, “And they said, “An Egyptian delivered us from the hand of the shepherds, and he also drew enough water for us and watered the flock.” Exodus 2:19 That was after Moses fled Egypt for murdering another Egyptian, done so while defending a Hebrew [Moses being born a Hebrew], as described in Exodus 2:11-25.

Our Lord Jesus says, “For if you believed Moses, you would believe Me; for he wrote about Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.” John 5:46-47, Matthew 5:17

“Then [Jesus] said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” Luke 24:44

“But this is a people robbed and plundered; All of them are snared in holes, and they are hidden in prison houses; They are for prey, and no one delivers; For plunder, and no one says, “Restore!” Isaiah 42:22

When the Israelites were in captivity to the Babylonians, they were treated very badly. They were preyed upon as victims being robbed and plundered, they were hidden in prison houses without due justice and helplessly entrapped in holes like wild animals. No one was there to deliver them from their persecution; no one cared about restoring them. “I was angry with My people; I have profaned My inheritance, and given them into your hand. You showed them no mercy; On the elderly you laid your yoke very heavily. and you said, ‘I will be a lady forever,’” Isaiah 47:6-7

Also, when it comes to exalting the laws of Judaism, and rejecting Jesus as the Christ and Son of God, the Jewish culture is robbed and plundered. They are robbed and plundered of the “scarlet cord” of the Old Testament that points to Jesus as the Christ and Son of God. “…their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. Nevertheless, when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.” 2 Corinthians 3:14-16 The Jewish culture is snared in holes, the holes entrapping them to the laws of Judaism and unbelief is Jesus as the Christ. They are hidden in prison houses, hidden in the prison of the law as they refuse life in the Spirit of Christ, “…for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” 2 Corinthians 3:6

As all the world can see, the Jewish State of Israel “…is for prey, and no one delivers; For plunder, and no one says, “Restore!”

“Who among you will give ear to this? Who will listen and hear for the time to come?” Isaiah 42:23

We are living in that “time to come”. The law of Moses has been exalted through Jesus Christ, and the Jewish people have become the prey that no one delivers, and as their land is being plundered [as seen by the West Bank], no one is saying, “Restore!”

We can see on the map below how much land of the State of Israel has been plundered by the West Bank. Jerusalem itself is no longer Jerusalem, but it is West Jerusalem and East Jerusalem. West Jerusalem being in the State of Israel and East Jerusalem being in the West Bank.

“Who gave Jacob for plunder, and Israel to the robbers? Was it not the Lord, He against whom we have sinned? For they would not walk in His ways, nor were they obedient to His law. Therefore He has poured on him the fury of His anger and the strength of battle; It has set him on fire all around, yet he did not know; And it burned him, yet he did not take it to heart.” Isaiah 42:2425

Because of the rebellion of the Jewish people, God poured out His fury on them by bringing them captive to the Babylonians.

Jacob’s name was changed to Israel, as described in Genesis 32:22-32. Who gave Jacob/Israel for plunder and to the robbers? The answer to that is found within the Old Testament scriptures, which God has exalted for the very purpose of revealing His hand at work in the world today through Christ Jesus. The Lord God gathered the Jewish people to Israel in 1948 as the place where He unleashes the wrath of His judgment on them for the sin of rejecting Jesus the Christ, as quoted directly below;

“Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Because you have all become dross, therefore behold, I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. As men gather silver, bronze, iron, lead, and tin into the midst of a furnace, to blow fire on it, to melt it; so I will gather you in My anger and in My fury, and I will leave you there and melt you. Yes, I will gather you and blow on you with the fire of My wrath, and you shall be melted in its midst. As silver is melted in the midst of a furnace, so will you be melted in its midst; then you shall know that I, the Lord, have poured out My fury on you.’” Ezekiel 22:19-21

Israel is surrounded by enemies and has been set on fire from all around. Since the very year that Israel was established as the State of Israel in 1948, the Israelis have been in 19 wars. Click for a list of those wars and scroll about halfway down.

Was it not the Lord who has done that? Absolutely, they would not walk in His ways, nor were they obedient to His law, yet they do not take it to heart that it is because of their rejection of Jesus as the Christ and Son of God.

If the Jewish people would have said “Yes!” to Jesus Christ 2000 years ago, the State of Israel and the entire Jewish culture would never have existed today. Instead, they would have been Christian for the past 2000 years. As Christians, we are many different colors, in many different countries, and with many different languages. “For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:26-28 As Christians, we do not have a country on this earth to call our own, our country is in the eternal New Jerusalem of the new heaven and earth.

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
