Leviathan, the serpent of the sea, is punished by the Lord.

Isaiah 27:1

“In that day the Lord with His severe sword, great and strong, will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, Leviathan that twisted serpent; And He will slay the reptile that is in the sea.” Isaiah 27:1

Leviathan is mentioned in Psalms and described in every verse of Job 41. Those scriptures are quoted below. Before that, what is Leviathan to the Spirit of the Lord? Leviathan is the serpent that the Lord will severely punish. From that, we know that Leviathan provokes the wrath of the Holiness of God. In that light, today we know Leviathan to be in the sea of the global population, always fleeing from obedience to the Lord, and is the twisted serpent that turns the truth of God into a lie, “…who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.” Romans 1:25

In the sea of the world’s population, we hear “Leviathan” the serpent speaking through the attitude of people everywhere as they boast, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” Revelations 13:4 However, the severe sword of the Lord, great and strong, is coming against “Leviathan” and everyone who lives for that beast, as quoted, “Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.” Revelations 1:7

“Leviathan” is the serpent within the sea of the global culture of the beast, and lives within people by its power over physiology to give them what to speak, do, think, and feel. Those who live and govern for the beast have become egocentric in the way they exalt themselves above God. They feel no remorse and no need for the remission of sin through Jesus Christ. They oppose, ridicule, and manipulate the presence of the Holy Spirit as they detest the life of Holiness. The world fills with anti-social activity, with no empathy for others within their superficial charm.

Speaking of Leviathan, “He beholds every high thing; He is king over all the children of pride.” Job 41:34

Scripture verses from Psalms and the whole chapter of Job 41 concerning Leviathan.

“You broke the heads of Leviathan in pieces, and gave him as food to the people inhabiting the wilderness.” Psalms 74:14

The book of Revelations speaks of the dragon with seven heads and the beast rising from the sea, as quoted below:

“And another sign appeared in heaven: behold, a great, fiery red dragon having seven heads and ten horns, and seven diadems on his heads.” Revelations 12:3 Click for a post on Revelations 12.

“Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his horns ten crowns, and on his heads a blasphemous name. Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” Revelations 13:1-4

“There the ships sail about; there is that Leviathan, which You have made to play there.” Psalms 104:26

That verse is shining light on the risks of living within a world dominated by the beast that has power over physiology without respect for the human being, without the love of God, without the forgiveness of Jesus Christ, and without a care for the fruit of the Holy Spirit. “Ships sail about” in this world where Satan’s beast treats people like its playthings, like puppets on a string.

In Job 41:12, the Lord says this about Leviathan, “I will not conceal his limbs, his mighty power, or his graceful proportions.” In other words, the Lord brings the wrath of His judgment through the spiritually corrupt and lawless ways of this world, as the Christ Jesus says, “Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!” Matthew 18:7

“Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her. In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, ‘I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow.’ Therefore her plagues will come in one day—death and mourning and famine. And she will be utterly burned with fire, for strong is the Lord God who judges her.” Revelations 18:4-8

Job 41 describes Leviathan, each of the 34 verses. Below is the entire quote from Job 41:

“Can you draw out Leviathan with a hook, or snare his tongue with a line which you lower?

Can you put a reed through his nose, or pierce his jaw with a hook?

Will he make many supplications to you? Will he speak softly to you?

Will he make a covenant with you? Will you take him as a servant forever?

Will you play with him as with a bird, or will you leash him for your maidens?

Will your companions make a banquet of him? Will they apportion him among the merchants?

Can you fill his skin with harpoons, or his head with fishing spears?

Lay your hand on him; Remember the battle—Never do it again! Indeed, any hope of overcoming him is false; Shall one not be overwhelmed at the sight of him? No one is so fierce that he would dare stir him up.

Who then is able to stand against Me? Who has preceded Me, that I should pay him? Everything under heaven is Mine.

“I will not conceal his limbs, his mighty power, or his graceful proportions.

Who can remove his outer coat? Who can approach him with a double bridle? Who can open the doors of his face, with his terrible teeth all around?

His rows of scales are his pride, shut up tightly as with a seal; One is so near another that no air can come between them; They are joined one to another, they stick together and cannot be parted.

His sneezings flash forth light, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning. Out of his mouth go burning lights;
Sparks of fire shoot out. Smoke goes out of his nostrils, as from a boiling pot and burning rushes.

His breath kindles coals, and a flame goes out of his mouth. Strength dwells in his neck, and sorrow dances before him.

The folds of his flesh are joined together; They are firm on him and cannot be moved.

His heart is as hard as stone, even as hard as the lower millstone.

When he raises himself up, the mighty are afraid; Because of his crashings they are beside themselves.

Though the sword reaches him, it cannot avail; Nor does spear, dart, or javelin. He regards iron as straw, and bronze as rotten wood. The arrow cannot make him flee; Slingstones become like stubble to him. Darts are regarded as straw; He laughs at the threat of javelins.

His undersides are like sharp potsherds; He spreads pointed marks in the mire.

He makes the deep boil like a pot; He makes the sea like a pot of ointment.

He leaves a shining wake behind him; One would think the deep had white hair.

On earth there is nothing like him, which is made without fear.

He beholds every high thing; He is king over all the children of pride.”

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
