Syria, the West Bank, and the State of Israel

Isaiah 7:1-9

“Now it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin king of Syria and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up to Jerusalem to make war against it, but could not prevail against it.Isaiah 7:1

In the days of Isaiah, the Israelites were divided between two kingdoms, the kingdom of Israel to the north and the kingdom of Judah to the south. That is seen on the map below, to the right. Ahaz was the king of Judah. He did not do according to the will of the Lord and even sacrificed his son to a false god of the nations around him. His reign was marred with political turmoil and spiritual decline. Ahaz plundered the temple of God resulting in the temple’s doors being closed and preventing worship of the Living God. During this time of spiritual darkness, the king of Israel and the king of Syria formed a confederacy to conquer Jerusalem [a territory of Judah]. Syria is the brown area on the map to the right, titled, “Kingdom of Aram-Damascus”, just about where Syria is today.

The Lord was against the confederacy coming against the kingdom of Judah because it was a confederacy formed with a foreign country [Syria]. The king of the kingdom of Israel put his faith in the military might and power of the confederacy and turned away from the word of God, who says, “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit”, Zachariah 4:6 This is described in the post on Isaiah 8:11-15 The king of Judah returned to God after listening to the word of Lord that came through Isaiah when He said, “‘Take heed, and be quiet; do not fear or be fainthearted for these two stubs of smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria, and the son of Remaliah.” Isaiah 7:4 And also, “Do not say, ‘A confederacy,’ concerning all that this people call a confederacy, nor be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.” Isaiah 8:12

Today, we see how the governors of the State of Israel are not living in the will of God as they reject Jesus as the Christ and Son of God. The State of Israel is plagued with political turmoil, spiritual darkness, and constant wars. The temple’s doors are closed within the State of Israel referring to preventing people from living in the presence of the Holy Spirit by faith in Jesus Christ. During this time, we see Syria as harboring enemies of Israel and coming against Israel in covert and overt ways. With that, there are those sitting as governors in Israel’s governing assembly that want to see change from the way Israel is today. In a sense, they have formed an alliance with Syria, and others, that seek to whittle away the independence of Israel to bring “stability”, conformity, and “peace” to the region. The intent of the “unification” is to align with the goal of the United Nations to be the undisputed one world government. The independence of the State of Israel is an obstacle to that.

Today, Israel has formed a confederacy with the United States based on military power and might, instead of depending on God through Jesus Christ. We see the State of Israel using military force to ward off the threats that surround them. Israel has been in 19 wars since they were established as a State in 1948. However, the invasion Israel is not able to ward off, which they are being conquered by, is spoken about in the next verse.

And it was told to the house of David, saying, “Syria’s forces are deployed in Ephraim.” So his heart and the heart of his people were moved as the trees of the woods are moved with the wind.” Isaiah 7:2

The “house of David” is the kingdom of Judah because David was from the tribe of Judah. Ephraim was situated where the West Bank of today is. Ephraim was just north of Jerusalem, in the area of Beit El and Shechem, etc.as seen on the map above to the right. A comparison can be made with the map on the left to be able to see how Ephraim of that time is within the West Bank of today.

Syria’s forces were deployed in Ephraim, the same as Syria is said to be responsible for the occupation of the West Bank today. ISIS is known as a terrorist organization stationed in Syria and are known to be responsible for the resistance against Israel in the West Bank. Syria was the area in brown, on the map above to the right, called the “Kingdom of Aram-Damascus”. That is about where the Syria of today is located.

The heart of Ahaz, the king of Judah, and all the people of Judah were terrified to know that Syria and the king of Israel were at their border to fight against them. They shook like the trees of the woods moved by the wind. We can envision that the Israeli leaders, and the Israeli citizens, that support the traditional boundaries of Israel, are terrified to know that their enemies are within their territory, within the West Bank and among their government assembly.

“Then the Lord said to Isaiah, “Go out now to meet Ahaz, you and Shear-Jashub your son, at the end of the aqueduct from the upper pool, on the highway to the Fuller’s Field…” Isaiah 7:3

Isaiah had two sons, the first,  Shear-Jashub, which means “a remnant will return”, and his second is mentioned in Isiah 8:1-4, Maher-shalal-hash-baz, which means “speed the spoil, hasten the booty”.

On the map below, the area circled in red is where the “upper pool” was located, which was at the end of the aqueduct, on the road to the Fuller’s Field. That is where the Lord directed Isaiah to meet Ahaz. The Fuller’s Field is also known as the Launderers Field, which was the water source for washing clothes. The “City of David” is Jerusalem.

The aqueduct is symbolic for the flow of the Water of Life, and meeting at the upper pool is symbolic for coming together in the name of Jesus. The Fuller’s Field is symbolic for having our spirit washed and cleansed by the Holy Spirit. As the enemies of Israel gather in the West Bank, the Lord calls for the governors of the State of Israel to meet at the Water of Life to come to Jesus as their Christ. The Lord wants them to be washed and clothed in the Holy Spirit and to lead their people to Him. From there would be the remnant that returns to him.

“…and say to him: ‘Take heed, and be quiet; do not fear or be fainthearted for these two stubs of smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria, and the son of Remaliah.” Isaiah 7:4

The message of the Lord to Ahaz was to be quiet, do not fear, nor be fainthearted because of the “two stubs of smoking firebrands”, which were the king of Syria and their alliance with the king of Israel. They were fierce against Judah [Jerusalem]. That is the message the Lord has to the governors of the State of Israel today, to be quiet and know that He is Lord, “‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.” Zachariah 4:6 In face of the terrorist activities being gathered in the West Bank, despite opposition from governors within the government assembly of Israel, the Lord wants Israel to trust in Him, not in guns, bombs, and the power and might of allied nations. “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalms 46:10

Today, the Lord wants all of the Jewish people to live by His word through Jesus Christ, and not to call a confederacy, based on military power and might, a confederacy, which is what is happening with the State of Israel and the United States.

“Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah have plotted evil against you, saying, “Let us go up against Judah and trouble it, and let us make a gap in its wall for ourselves, and set a king over them, the son of Tabel— Isaiah 7:5-6

The king of Syria and the king of Israel plotted to trouble Judah and make a gap in its wall for themselves. That gap in the wall would come by the occupation of Ephraim by Syria. The intent of the king of Israel and king of Syria was to set up their own king to rule over Judah and thus unify all of the Israelites as one kingdom for themselves. They would unite the kingdom of Israel with the kingdom of Judah to create one Israel. However, that was not in the will of God, as the king of Syria and the king of Israel were not serving God. Unity through human plans is much different than unity in God through Jesus Christ.

Today, the plan of ISIS from Syria, and the opposition leaders within the government of Israel, is to trouble Israel with constant conflict, threats of war, and to keep them in a state of alert and unrest. The gap in the wall of Israel is the West Bank, which has spread deeply across the borders of Israel, as seen in the first map of this post. The intent is to overwhelm, overcome, and then to unify the State of Israel with the Middle East countries [with a government that has the global agenda in heart]. The ultimate goal of the unification is to feed into the goal of the United Nations to be established as the undisputed one world government. As it stands today, the independence of the State of Israel is an obstacle to that.

thus says the Lord God: It will not stand, nor will it come to pass. For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin. Within sixty-five years Ephraim will be broken, so that it will not be a people. The head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son. If you will not believe, surely you will not be established.”’” Isaiah 7:7-9

The word of the Lord to Ahaz was that the plot of the king of Syria and the king of Israel would not be successful. However, there was a huge condition, that he must believe the word of the Lord, but if he would not believe, he would certainly not be delivered. The reward for Ahaz’s belief would be the brokenness of Ephraim after “65 years” so that it would not be a culture of people.

Today, the Lord makes the same promise to the governors of the State of Israel. If they believe the word of God and accept Jesus as their Christ, the plot of ISIS [of Syria] in the West Bank, and their alliance with opposition leaders within the government of Israel will not be successful. A separate population of people in the West Bank would not happen and would come to nothing after “65 years”.

The head of Syria is Damascus and the head of Damascus is Rezin refers to the king coming against the kingdom of Judah is only human, but God is the King of kings.

The head of Ephraim is Samaria and the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son [Pekah] . Samaria was the capital of the northern kingdom of Israel while Jerusalem was the capital of the southern kingdom of Judah. The Holy Spirit is letting us know that the head of the West Bank is connected to opposition leaders within the Israeli government assembly. The Holy Spirit is also letting us know that the head of the West Bank are only human and not God. The government of Israel needs to put their faith in Jesus Christ, the King of kings, and to remove their focus on human efforts rooted in a military confederacy.

The beast with power over physiology has access to every person in this world and is able to govern by giving people what to speak, do, think, and feel. People who serve the beast are everywhere within the State of Israel, including the population, synagogues, and among government officials. That is true for every nation around the world. The beast is the power driving the unification of the global culture. That is why it is called the government and culture of the beast. The beast gives breath/life to the image of the beast to speak by speaking and living through people everywhere. By what they are given to say and do they are groomed to the mark, name, and number of the beast.

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
