“Their idols were on the beasts and on the cattle. Your carriages were heavily loaded, a burden to the weary beast.”

“Bel bows down, Nebo stoops; Their idols were on the beasts and on the cattle. Your carriages were heavily loaded, A burden to the weary beast.” Isaiah 46:1

What was Bel and Nebo? They were the false gods of Babylon. The name of “Bel” meant “lord” and was considered to be the chief god called “Marduk”. Nebo was considered to be the son of Bel/Marduk. The prophet Jeremiah also spoke of those false gods, “Babylon is taken, Bel is shamed. Merodach is broken in pieces; Her idols are humiliated, Her images are broken in pieces.” Jeremiah 50:2 Jeremiah’s prophecies began years after Isaiah’s. Isaiah prophesied about Cyrus [by name] conquering Babylon in Isaiah 45:1-7.

“Bel bows down, and Nebo stoops” refers to the inability of those false gods to save the Babylonian Empire from being conquered. The land was filled with so many idols that they were a burden for the weary beasts to carry, and the carriages were heavily loaded by the false gods. That points to the weight and burden of servitude to the false gods being the reason for the collapse of the Babylonians.

The culture of today considers people to be human animals with the beastly side of human nature something that needs to be controlled and leashed. There is a presence in this world today that is designed to do just that. That presence has power over physiology and is able to manipulate behaviors, feelings, thoughts, and speech. People are expected to live by what that inner presence gives them to do and say and feel and think. In that way, people are not living by their own human directives, not living by the freedom of beastly instincts, and “bad” behavior is put on a leash and constrained.

All of what is said directly above sounds good, but that is what is meant about “…having a form of godliness but denying its power.” 2 Timothy 3:5 In order to constrain lawlessness by human efforts and a false god, the human spirit is hardened against the Spirit of Christ, an end is being made to belief in the Living God, and the intent is to shut down the presence of the Holy Spirit. God created us to fellowship with Him through the spirit, not to be under the control of Satan’s beast, “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:24

The Christ, whose name is Jesus, came in human form and lived by the Spirit of God [Hebrews 2:14-18], and that is our example to cherish being born by water [the flesh] and by the Spirit [Holy Spirit]. Jesus says, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” John 3:5

Satan’s beast is not human in any way, shape, or form, except that it lives within people to destroy our body as the temple of Holy Spirit. The world population is carrying that beast within themselves, and it is a burden to the weary spirit of people. The carriages of the soul of people are heavily loaded with unbelief in God, the rejection of Jesus Christ, and opposing the presence of the Holy Spirit. That heavy load and burden to the weary eventually leads to lawlessness because the Holy Spirit is He who restrains lawlessness, “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.” 2 Thessalonians 2:5-6 Click for a post on the “lawless one”.

“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.” 1 Corinthians 3:16-17

Satan’s beast cares nothing at all about the human spirit, human sentimentality, or anything about human beings at all. That beast has one purpose, to give breath/life to the image of the beast to speak by speaking and living through people. The beast sits within the temple of God, our body, by the power over physiology to give people what to say, do, think, and feel, and is the one “…who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” 2 Thessalonians 2:4 Click for a post on that.

The following verses say something very interesting; that we are judged according to people in the flesh but live to God in the spirit. Those who live for the beast, that claims victory over the flesh, will not experience being born-again by water and by the Spirit. They will not experience living to God according to the Spirit. God judges us as flesh and blood people not as human robots that has every thought, feeling, word, and behavior given to us. “For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.” 1 Peter 4:5-7

“They stoop, they bow down together; They could not deliver the burden, but have themselves gone into captivity.” Isaiah 46:2

Today’s culture of the beast, which is global, may boast of not being captive to the beastly human nature, but they are captive to Satan’s beast that destroys the temple of God [the person as the temple of the Holy Spirit] by its power over physiology to give people what to say, do, think, and feel.

“…having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” 2 Timothy 3:5

“She has become a dwelling for demons and a haunt for every impure spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal…Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities. Render to her just as she rendered to you, and repay her double according to her works; in the cup which she has mixed, mix double for her.” Revelations 18:2, 4-6

The beast is not able to relieve the burden of sin because only Jesus Christ can do that Who gave His life on the Cross to atone for our sin.

Part of the strategy of this world’s system, to eliminate the sins of the flesh, is to move towards the cashless society by implementing the digital currency. Having a form of Godliness, they rightly believe that “…the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil…” 1 Timothy 6:10 However, they deny the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. “….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.
I am coming soon.
Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.’”
