Sennacherib’s death.

Isaiah 37:36-38

“Then the angel of the Lord went out, and killed in the camp of the Assyrians one hundred and eighty-five thousand; and when people arose early in the morning, there were the corpses—all dead.” Isaiah 37:36

The camp of the Assyrians is believed to have been in Lachish, a city between Jerusalem and Egypt. They set up camp there to cut off travel between those of the kingdom of Judah and Egypt. The purpose of that blockade was to prevent a military alliance from forming against the Assyrians, as described in the post on Isaiah 36:1-7.

The angels of the Lord operate in the realm of Holiness to bring justice within the oppression of those faithful to Him. They are able to bring overnight death to a population of people living by the power of darkness, or to animals. The fifth plague that the Lord performed on behalf of Moses and Aaron is described in this way, “So the Lord did this thing on the next day, and all the livestock of Egypt died;” Exodus 9:6 The tenth plague is described in this way, “And it came to pass at midnight that the Lord struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the captive who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of livestock.” Exodus 12:29

We know that the angels of the Lord are able to poison waters to bring death to a population of people, as described in Revelations 8:10-11. Whatever happened to the 185,000 Assyrians, it was by the angel of the Lord that they had died overnight. We also know that the angels of the Lord unleash the events of the first six of the Seven Trumpets of Revelations 8 and 9. An angel of the Lord also brings the Seven Thunders of Revelations 10, and angels also brings the Seven Last Plagues of Revelations 16.

The global “camp” of those who serve the power of darkness through the beast that gives them what to say, do, think, and feel will be plagued with death and destruction, as described in the paragraph above. The culture of the beast twill “wake up one day” and realize that death surrounds them among themselves, even though today they boast in their attitude and behavior, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” Revelations 13:4

“So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed and went away, returned home, and remained at Nineveh.” Isaiah 37:36-38

After witnessing the 185,000 corpses, which died overnight, Sennacherib left the plagued camp and returned home at Nineveh. I’m sure he didn’t want to be the next corpse laying among the 185,000. Nineveh was the capital city of Assyria, and Sennacherib was the king of Assyria. If Nineveh sounds familiar, that is the city where the Lord sent Jonah to preach, Jonah 1:1. About 100 to 150 years after the people of Ninevah repented of their sin against God, Nahum was written, which describes a prophecy against Nineveh, “The burden against Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.” Nahum 1:1 Somewhere between the book of Jonah and Nahum, the people of Nineveh turned away from the Lord.

Isaiah, by the Spirit of the Lord, encouraged Hezekiah with the prophecy that Sennacherib would be made to return to where he came, which was Nineveh in Assyria. There, Sennacherib would come to his end, as quoted, “Because your rage against Me and your tumult have come up to My ears, therefore I will put My hook in your nose and My bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way which you came…and I will cause [him] to fall by the sword in his own land.”’ Isaiah 37:29, 7

The “king” of the government of the beast and the global culture will return to the place where he came, a place of outer darkness and separation from God for eternity…a place of eternal torment in Hell. He will have no place in the New Jerusalem. Before the new heaven and earth are created, he will be eternally destroyed, “The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.” Revelations 20:10

“Now it came to pass, as he was worshiping in the house of Nisroch his god, that his sons Adrammelech and Sharezer struck him down with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat. Then Esarhaddon his son reigned in his place.” Isaiah 37:36-38

Sennacherib, the king, went into the house of his god where he was struck down. The word of the Lord says to us that the beast of the government of the beast will be struck down in his own center of power. The power center of the beast will be plunged into darkness as described in the Fifth Plague of Revelations 16:10-11. Currently, the beast has made his home within the temple of God, our body, by the ability to give people what to say, do, think, and feel. That beast is the one “…who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” 2 Thessalonians 2:4 Click for a post on that. When the power center of the beast is plunged into darkness, the government of the beast and its global culture will be powerless. There will be no more uncanny knowledge, no heightened intuition, no extraordinary skills and talents, no amazing physical abilities, no uncanny authority over others, no fabricated emotions…

The “sons” of the beast would be those of the global culture who were serving the beast by saying and doing according to what the beast gave them to say and do. When they break free of the beast’s control over their physiology, during the event of the Fifth Plague, they will rebel against the global government. Neither will they return to God, through Jesus Christ, in the presence of the Holy Spirit. That will be a time of lawlessness, chaos, violence, and a world inhabited by demonic activity, “‘She has become a dwelling for demons and a haunt for every impure spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal.” Revelations 18:2

After assassinating their father Sennacherib, the sons escaped to Ararat. If Arafat sounds familiar, that is the place where Noah’s ark came to a rest after the floods receded, “the ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat” Genesis 8:4.  Ararat was a mountainous region, not just a single mountain peak.

Today’s world government of the beast is the last government that this world will ever know, none other will rise up to replace it. Once the power center of the beast is plunged into darkness, then the Battle of Armageddon comes as described in Revelations 16:12-16, then the return of our Lord Christ Jesus, “The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever.” Revelations 11:15

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25
, 3:1
