Jesus Christ enables the rash to understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers to be able to speak plainly.

“Behold, a king will reign in righteousness, and princes will rule with justice.” Isaiah 32:1-4

Jesus Christ is that King and His dominion is one of righteousness. Righteousness is fairly simply to understand because of what our Lord Jesus says, “For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.” Matthe w5:20. The scribes and Pharisees were living by outward appearances, but their heart was far from the Spirit of God, and oppressive towards the testimony of Jesus Christ. Who are the “princes” of the Lord Jesus Christ? Everyone who lives in His Light, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” 1 Peter 2:9-10

“A man will be as a hiding place from the wind, and a cover from the tempest, as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.” Isaiah 32:1-4

The Bible uses the word “man” in the same way that the word “humanity” is used today, or in the same way as referring to a specific population of people. “A man” in the verse above refers to every human being who lives in the righteousness of Christ Jesus as His “princes”.

As followers of Jesus Christ, we are the rivers of water in a dry place because His Holy Spirit springs up in us, as our Lord Jesus says, “But the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:14 Today, the only place where people will hear about receiving refreshing for their spirit and soul is through we who live for Jesus Christ by allowing the Holy Spirit to flow through us. The beast that gives people what to say, do, think, and feel shuts the door to the waters of the Holy Spirit.

As followers of Jesus Christ, we are a hiding place from the wind and a cover from the tempest. Those of today’s culture, which is global, are the winds and tempest, as they blow hard against anyone who are not saying and doing as the beast gives them to say and do. When others come around us, the wind and tempest quit blowing because we speak meek and gentle words of peace that flow with grace, mercy, and forgiveness.

As the “princes” of our Lord Jesus, we are the shadow that is cast by a great rock in a weary land. We provide shade from the heat of hostile words and behaviors that nags and hounds anyone who has found disfavor from the culture of the beast. Even if we just sit with someone in silence, that provides shade to those who are weary in a world where love has gone cold.

“The eyes of those who see will not be dim, and the ears of those who hear will listen.” Isaiah 32:1-4

When our Lord Jesus Christ came over 2000 years ago, He removed the veil that was over our eyes, eyes that were blinded by the letter of the law. “But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart. Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” 2 Corinthian 3:14-17 The blinded minds also caused a “veil” of sorts to cover the ears, making people deaf to the freedom of the Spirit found in Jesus Christ.

Today, because of Christ Jesus, we see clearly by His Light, and we listen astutely to the Holy Spirit within us. Jesus opens the eyes of the blind, causes the deaf to hear, and resurrects us to the Spirit as we die to living by the flesh, “When the men had come to Him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to You, saying, ‘Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?’” And that very hour He cured many of infirmities, afflictions, and evil spirits; and to many blind He gave sight. Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them.” Luke 7:20-22.

“Also the heart of the rash will understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers will be ready to speak plainly.” Isaiah 32:1-4

In the context of that verse, and of the verses of this post, the “tongue of stammerers” refer to everyone not seeing and hearing the scriptures clearly. When they spoke about the Scriptures, they disrupted the flow of the “scarlet cord” pointing to the prophecy of the coming of the Christ, whose name is Jesus. That caused blocks in what the Spirit was speaking through His word, through the Prophets. They were rash in assuming they understood everything through the letter of the law, but they didn’t understand by the knowledge given in the Spirit of the Lord.

When our Lord Jesus came, people began to understand the knowledge given to them by Him, concerning the Kingdom of God. They began to understand that Jesus was the Christ as prophesied about in the Old Testament. They began to speak plainly in a way that flowed coherently from the Old Testament through the New Testament. Like today, we who live for God, through Jesus Christ, in the presence of the Holy Spirit grow in the knowledge and grace of our Lord Jesus. We are able to speak plainly of the Gospel of Christ because our born-again testimony is the Gospel written on our heart. We can even see the Old and New Testaments as being the entire message of the testimony of Jesus.

In the scriptures of Acts 18:24-28, there is a stammerer spoken about whose name was Apollos. Although he spoke accurately concerning the way of John Baptist, he did not understand the way of Jesus Christ. Apollos stammered in not being able to speak coherently about Jesus as the Christ and Son of God. Aquilla and his wife Priscilla took Apollos aside and explained to him the way of God more clearly. Apollos was able to understand that knowledge and began to speak plainly about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Those verses are quoted below.

“Now a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures, came to Ephesus. This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John. So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. And when he desired to cross to Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him; and when he arrived, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace; for he vigorously refuted the Jews publicly, showing from the Scriptures that Jesus is the Christ.” Acts 18:24-28
