“Woe!” to nations who send ambassadors to form military alliances.

“Woe to the land shadowed with buzzing wings, which is beyond the rivers of Ethiopia. Which sends ambassadors by sea, even in vessels of reed on the waters, saying, “Go, swift messengers, to a nation tall and smooth of skin, to a people terrible from their beginning onward, a nation powerful and treading down, whose land the rivers divide.” Isaiah 18:1-2

The land beyond the rivers of Ethiopia would have to be Egypt because they send messengers to Cush. Ethiopia is seen on the south and east side of the left map below, and Egypt is to the north of the map. Sudan [Cush} is between those two. Cush was known to be a nation of tall and smooth-skinned people. The Cushites were fierce warriors, terrible from the day the land of Cush was founded, powerful in conquering other nations. As seen on the map at the bottom of this post, Cush/Sudan was a land divided by rivers. Sudan is seen where there is a right and left side to the river [shown in red], and feeds into one river. The Nile flows north, unlike any other river. Cush was divided by those three sections of the river.

The purpose for Egypt sending messengers to Cush was to form a military alliance with Cush, to put up a front against the Assyrians. They put pressure on the king of the kingdom of Judah to choose who he would align with, them or Assyria. Serving the Living God was not given as an option. That brought the “woe” of the Lord’s wrath against Cush and Egypt. The Lord is against military confederacies because faith should be placed in Him, not in power and might, “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts.” Zachariah 4:6 Our Lord Jesus says, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27 However, the king of Judah turned away from the word of God, the Ten Commandments, and the animal sacrifices that symbolically atoned for sin. The king of Judah chose to pay tribute to the king of Assyria.

While the negotiation of the verses of this post is between Egypt and Cush, Egypt had a reputation of negotiating military confederacies with other nations. Israel even sent ambassadors to Egypt to negotiate an agreement for weapons and soldiers, as described in the post on Ezekiel 17. Israel wanted weapons and soldiers to fight against the king of Babylon, as quoted, “But he rebelled against him by sending his ambassadors to Egypt, that they might give him horses and many people.” Ezekiel 17:15 The “he” in that verse is the governor/ambassador of Israel. The “him” in that verse is the king of Babylon. By choosing military power and might over the Lord, not only did Israel rebel against Babylon but also against the word of the Lord.

Egypt is called a land shadowed with “buzzing wings”, and the wrath of God’s judgment is spoken against them. The “buzzing wings” refers to how busy they were to form a military alliance with Cush and to involve the kingdom of Judah into war and away from the Lord. That cast a dark shadow over the land of Egypt in the eyes of the Lord. Involving countries into war instead of involving people into a life with God, through Jesus Christ, brings the “woe” of His judgment.

Today, we live in a land shadowed with “buzzing wings”. Those “buzzing wings” brought a confederacy of nations around the world, which is called the United Nations. That confederacy was formed in 1945, immediately after World War Two, and brought the government of the beast with it, as described in Daniel 8:1-14. The faith of the global government is in the power and might of the beast that empowers them with what to speak, do, think, and feel. They also have a global military, which will grow in size and activity when the United Nations become the undisputed one world government. The United Nations has their soldiers in countries around the world and are equipped with rifles, pistols, armored vehicles, mortars, machine guns, tear gas, rubber bullets, drones and cameras for surveillance, communication satellite devices, etc. Those weapons are supplied by the member nations of the United Nations.

The “buzzing wings” of the global culture come against belief in God the Creator, discards the need for the Christ, Jesus, and does not want the Holy Spirit to be part of who they are. The “woe” is spoken against them as God brings the wrath of His judgment against this world’s system.

Egypt sent ambassadors to Cush by the way of the Red Sea, which borders the east side of Egypt [seen on the map below]. Egypt was famous for the papyrus reeds that grew in the Nile Delta, from which they built “vessels of reed”, or rather vessels of papyrus, as seen in the image to the right [or something like that]. The ambassadors came humbly and peacefully. That’s the way the nations of today operate, they send ambassadors humbly and in peace to form a military confederacy. That is how NATO was formed, for example. On a global scale, the United Nations was formed under the guise of peace, safety, and security for the world, but have have formed a confederacy against belief in the living God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. The Lord says “Woe!” to the global confederacy.

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25
