“Thus I will make the land desolate, because they have committed a trespass,’ says the Lord God.” Ezekiel 15:8
The trespass of Israel is to turn away from the will of God by rejecting Jesus Christ as their Messiah, Lord, and Savior. If the Jewish people had received Jesus Christ 2000 years ago, none of the battles and conflicts they face today would be taking place. That’s because as Christians, the Jewish culture would have ceased to exist and the Jewish State of Israel would never have been established. As Christians, we do not have a nation on this earth to call our own, our nation is the New Jerusalem in the new heaven and earth. Israel will be made desolate, as described in the post on the “day after” the Battle of Armageddon, Ezekiel 39.
God gathered the Jewish people to the State of Israel for the purpose of unleashing the fury of His wrath on them. That is said in Ezekiel 22:19-20.
When we are born again by living for God through Jesus Christ, and we embrace the presence of the Holy Spirit, our life has a brand-new direction. Without Christ, our destiny is like that of Israel’s. With Christ, we have a new destination that leads to eternal life in the New Jerusalem. The change we experience by living for Jesus Christ is good in this life on earth as well as for eternal life beyond the grave.
The trespass of this world system is to deny the existence of God the Creator, to discard the need for Jesus Christ for the remission of sin, and to oppress the presence of the Holy Spirit. The desolation of Israel and of this present world comes ultimately in the Day of the Lord. When Jesus Christ returns, a new heaven and earth is created where those faithful to God will live eternally in the New Jerusalem. The old Jerusalem is on this earth in the Middle East, and it is divided into the West and East with a lot of conflict and violence. The New Jerusalem is not on this earth but is within the Kingdom of God where there is eternal peace and unity.
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
