“And David said to Ahimelech, “Is there not here on hand a spear or a sword? For I have brought neither my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste.” 1 Samuel 21:8 David was in the presence of the enemy who wanted to kill him, but he had no weapons with hm. He decided he needed a sword for protection.
When Jesus Christ came to this earth, He was sent by God as a matter of urgency to a world desperately in need of the atonement for sin. His enemies surrounded Him who wanted to kill Him. He brought no military with Him, no armed rebel forces, no destructive physical weapons whatsoever. The only sword He looks for is the Sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. As followers of Jesus Christ, we do not engage in any physical aggression whatsoever because we depend on the Sword of the Spirit, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Holy Bible.
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;
Ephesian 6:12, 17
“So the priest said, “The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, there it is, wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod. If you will take that, take it. For there is no other except that one here.” 1 Samuel 21:9 The only sword available to David was the sword of the giant Goliath, who David killed. The sword of the giant was the same sword used to behead the giant.
Jesus Christ is going to behead the global giant of the beast with the same sword which they come against the children of God. For the government of the beast, it is a time of chaos, turmoil, upheaval, and global tribulation. It eventually brings their collapse in a horrific time of conflict and eventual Battle of Armageddon. That happens because they bring their gigantic sword against belief in God, against the need for the remission of sin through Jesus Christ, and they trample on the Holy Spirit.
“And David said, “There is none like it; give it to me.” There is no sword like the one Jesus Christ uses to defeat this world’s system, it is their own sword. For us followers of Christ, it is the Sword of the Spirit. Victory is not by power nor physical strength, but by the Spirit of God.
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1

Good word for our present age. Today’s world would rather keep God’s sword in the closet while using the world’s weapons.
