People Argue Over Who Gets What When Someone Dies, But Jesus Christ Has No Interest in Materialism

“Then one from the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” Luke 12:13 I have a couple real life stories to share about this, which is simply that those who live by the beast that gives them what to do, say, think, and feel receive after someone’s death. Those who live for Jesus are not in the receiving line, and often I wonder if the wish of the dead person is actually the way things are being distributed. There is always tension over money and possessions in a mixed crowd of those who are favored by those who govern by the beast and those who are not. One thing for sure, Jesus Christ has no concern about being involved in materialistic concerns, “But He said to him, “Man, who made Me a judge or an arbitrator over you?” Luke 12:14 This present system of government, on the other hand, thrives on money, possessions, and physical comforts, as a way to reward those who live for the culture of the beast. Jesus tells us that our life is not defined by materialism and physical comforts, “And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” Luke 12:15 However, humanism is the fig leaf worn by those who live for the beast that gives them what to dao and say, and they live for a culture that thrives on materialism and social integration. In contrast, the followers of Jesus Christ are set apart from the broad way of mainstream society and are willing to let go of possessions and money.

“Then He spoke a parable to them, saying: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded plentifully.” Luke 12:16 The national and world leaders lift up the global economy as a pathway to prosperity and peace. Local cities/politicians thrive on economic development and boast of enriching the citizens under their authority. The question to ask is, “What will they do once they have an overabundance of prosperity?” That is the question Jesus presents in His parable, “And he thought within himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no room to store my crops?’” Luke 12:17 Most people who have an abundance finds ways to invest it to make even more money, which means investing back into the social network of the beast, as Jesus says in his parable, “So he said, ‘I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods.” Luke 12:18 Once the global economy gets fully on track and the global population are rooted in the worldly values, then it would appear that the global agenda has been accomplished. They feel they can set back and relax, “And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” Luke 12:19

Those who build a world on money, possessions, and physical comforts haven’t a single thought outside of this present world. The materialism of this life keeps them in darkness, and they do not come to the Light found in Jesus Christ. They do not believe God, they discard the need for Jesus Christ who forgives unbelief, they trample on the Holy Spirit who convicts of sin, and they ostracize the followers of Jesus Christ. Our Lord Jesus has a word for those who think materialism, social integration, and physical comforts are the way to Salvation, “But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’” Luke 12:20 The global economy nor economic development of any type will be beneficial in the judgment to come, which they scoff at. Those who seek to save their life through materialism will lose their soul for eternity, so it’s necessary to be rich towards God through Jesus Christ, “So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” Luke 12:21
