The Evangelism Crew, where are they Now?

Romans 16:21-27

I think it would be great to be able to surround myself with people whose purpose is to bring others to Jesus Christ. It would feel like the Church I was brought up in through the 60’s and early 70’s. Church was all about “grounding” people in the Bible, to be familiar with the prophecies of Jesus’s coming, to know the eternal nature of God, and to “disciple” others. It was always customary to give a “Praise God!” in Jesus’s name. But city ordinances and other regulations prohibit the evangelizing of the Salvation message. That discourages others from coming to God through the blood of Jesus. I was one who watched all of Billy Grahm’s televised crusades, now that he is gone there is no replacement. The system of the internal government of the mark of the beast is responsible for the disappearing of the Church. Yet, the faithful few still remain true to the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Paul gives a glimpse into the world of evangelism before all of the prohibitions began. He had the support of the city’s directory of public works, co-working with a fellow evangelist named Timothy, surrounded by people of his own heritage, someone wrote his letters as he dictated the words, people willing to bring hospitality to all believers, and surrounded by people working to make the Gospel of Jesus Christ known. The society of the Christian network was thriving, today it’s a society that thinks the Gospel Message is a poison. The one and only mission of Paul’s crew was to root people in God through Jesus Christ. Because of their evangelism, my heart has a prayer in Jesus’s name,

“Showers of blessing,
Showers of blessing we need;
Mercy-drops round us are falling,
But for the showers we plead.”

“Timothy, my co-worker, sends his greetings to you,
as do Lucius, Jason and Sosipater, my fellow Jews.
I, Tertius, who wrote down this letter, greet you in the Lord.
Gaius, whose hospitality I and the whole church here enjoy, sends you his greetings.
Erastus, who is the city’s director of public works,
and our brother Quartus send you their greetings. 

Now to Hm who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, 
the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ,
in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, 
but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings 
by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to
the obedience that comes from faith— 
to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.”
