Betrayal Comes through a Kiss

Luke 22:47-52

This is the point where the betrayal of Jesus Christ happens. The money is given as a reward for the betrayal and that betrayal comes through a kiss. In the process, there is mistrust among church leaders, debate over who is greater, they have been told that they would be put through a sifter, and they are not able to stay awake with Christ. Now, Jesus Christ is treated like a leader of a rebellion and is arrested.

“While He was still speaking a crowd came up,
and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them.
He approached Jesus to kiss Him, but Jesus asked him, 
“Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”
Luke 22:47-52

The people with the cruelest heart have embraced me with the warmest hugs that come with a brief and tender caress on the back. That greeting comes with the tenderest of hello kisses. After the initial warm greeting everything turns sour. They are cold towards the Spirit of Jesus Christ and end up needling me in many different ways throughout the visit. Through their gentle hello kiss they betray the human decency that arises through the Spirit of Christ. That is exactly how the Gospel of Christ has been betrayed in the church. The traitors bring all of their “humanitarian” warmth in opposition to the Holy Spirit to destroy the churches. Today, those who live by the mark of the beast dominate the churches with their overwhelming numbers, and they teach the congregations to live by that Judas kiss. Those who live by the Spirit of Jesus Christ looks around at today’s church and asks, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”

“When Jesus’ followers saw what was going to happen, they said,
“Lord, should we strike with our swords?” 
And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear.
But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” 
And He touched the man’s ear and healed him.”
Luke 22:49-51

Being a 1959 Baby Boomer, I remember the history taught to me. I know about the Godliness of George Washington, the Godly foundations of the US Constitution, the Christians who came to America on the Mayflower, the exponential Church growth that could only happen in America. Many people today vow to defend that Christ-centered heritage and they have weapons. It’s not an armed militia by any means, but they do have their weapons and will defend their constitutional rights. They know there is a foreign element attempting to change the US Constitution and are taking away their rights. They ask within themselves, “Lord, should we strike with our swords?”  Some do. Today, there is a lot of violence against the intruders, the intruders are those who have power over physiology and intrude upon thoughts and emotions. It is the mark of the beast.

The mark of the beast causes people to “hear,” by forming thoughts by which a person is expected to verbally repeat. The people who bring the kiss of betrayal are also those who tell us that we need to “Hear.” Some who are determined to protect the Christian heritage are bound to “cut off the ear” of those who speak a word against their way-of-life, against the US Constitution. Jesus says, “No more of this!” And He touched the man’s ear and healed him.” These are ungodly times, a dark hour in which those who live by the mark of the beast reigns.

“Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard, 
and the elders, who had come for Him, 
“Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come with swords and clubs? 
Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on me.
But this is your hour—when darkness reigns.”
Luke 22:52-53

The ungodly government comes at Jesus Christ with everything they have, law enforcement at every level and community leaders on all levels. The name Jesus Christ is associated with rebellion against this present system that governs by the inner presence of the mark of the beast. They know that Christians see them for who they are, and we choose Jesus Christ over the Godless presence that sets itself up as God. Very soon, those who follow Jesus Christ will be on the outside of the law, even as today’s laws and constitutions are being changed. It will be legal to come against Christians with weapons of violence to forcibly put them under arrest. Yet, all we do is serve God, recognize Jesus Christ as the one who makes atonement for sin, and welcome the Holy Spirit. And of course, we refuse to live by the mark of the beast which persecutes Christ and makes a mockery of the Holy Spriit.

This is the hour of darkness when Jesus Christ will be continually betrayed. This is the hour when darkness reigns. This is the hour of the mark of the beast. Hold tight to the testimony of Jesus Christ.
