Paul, known as the Apostle to everyone outside the Jewish culture [Gentiles], is writing to Titus, someone who came to Jesus Christ through his ministry. Titus was a Greek gentile. Paul considered Titus to be a true son in the faith of Jesus Christ, as quoted, “To Titus, a true son in our common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior.” Titus 1:4 As members in the family of God through Jesus Christ, we should impart the grace, mercy, and peace of God to fellow believers.

“Paul, a bondservant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect and the acknowledgment of the truth which accords with godliness, in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began, but has in due time manifested His word through preaching, which was committed to me according to the commandment of God our Savior;” Titus 1:1-3

In these verses, Paul gives a confirmation of his faith in God, through Jesus Christ, in the presence of the Holy Spirit. Paul’s conformation is one for all Christians to follow.

To be a bondservant to our Lord Jesus is to consider ourselves to be in His service, bound to Him in the Spirit, not desiring the freedom of today’s atheistic culture. They honor one another but are far from living in the Holy Spirit, “How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God?” John 5:44 As Christians, we acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord and believe that He is alive today. We live in the hope of eternal life, which without the resurrection there is no hope beyond this chaotic and conflicted world, “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” 1 Corinthians 15:19 God cannot lie because lying against the Spirit brings spiritual death, but the Spirit of God is life, and we have His Spirit of truth living in us through Jesus. This is the promise God has made to us, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Today, God speaks to us through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, as quoted, “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.” Hebrews 1: 1-4

As followers of Jesus Christ, we have been entrusted with His word to make known the Salvation He offers to us through Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit being proof of our eternal home, “In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance…” Ephesians 1:13-14

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
