We are not to eat anything that dies naturally or is torn by beasts.

“The priests shall not eat anything, bird or beast, that died naturally or was torn by wild beasts.” Ezekiel 44:31

If an animal died naturally, no doubt it would be unfit for consumption, either due to death by disease or the meat being too old to be healthy. If an animal died by a wild beast, this would be pretty much like finding “roadkill” along the roadside nowadays. Most importantly, when it came to making sacrifices, from which the priests ate from, the animals had to have its life within them, be young, healthy, and without blemish. Also, the blood was completely drained, unlike what would be found in animals that died naturally or were killed by another animal. Of utmost importance, when it comes to food for our Spirit, we feed on life, the Bread of Life, the pure and unblemished Lamb of God.

Death is something that God does not want us to feed on nor have any part in. Jesus came to give us life, an abundance of life, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 The way to have that life is by believing in Jesus Christ, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 10:10

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life. I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.” John 6:47-51

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
