The “Put-Down” Culture

On Saturday morning, my neighbor called me over to her and she was in tears. She explained between sobs that she had to “put-down” her Rothweiler that had been with her for over 11 years. I wanted to be polite and sympathetic, so I told her it is a common practice nowadays to put-down pets. I mentioned three or four examples that I knew about within my family alone. My final word was, “My Mom was in a nursing home.” That ended the conversation, we went to our apartments. I was ready to give a verbal analysis of the unrelenting culture of death.

Death seems to be an accepted answer to “dilemmas” nowadays. I think we all know someone who has had to “put-down” a pet. Then there is the “putting-down” of babies through abortion. And I’m sure most of us are familiar with those life-or-death decisions that a loved one has to make on behalf of an ailing family member, relative, or close acquaintance. The medical profession is basically asking loved ones to “put-down” someone they are close to.

Inch by inch, we are being worn down as a society in every city around the world. Thoughts feelings, and behaviors are steadily and surely becoming weary and accepting death as a final solution. This is happening at the same time that they are planning to “put-down” Jesus Christ in every city around the world. Which they have been carrying out that plan of death for years. This culture of death coincides with the presence of the internal government of the mark of the beast. The society of human robots, those who live by the mark o the beast, despise Christians. Knowing that the decision is to “put-down” burdened elements of society, the severe persecution of those who live for Jesus Christ is a reality.

As a person who chooses Jesus Christ over the mark of the beast, I must stay awake to watch and pray. It’s so easy to become weary with so many assaults against my thoughts and feelings. My strength is in the Spirit of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit will never allow me to choose to be a participant against others simply because they refuse to accept the internal government as the authority in their life. The Holy Spirit will never allow me to bring heartache, sorrow, affliction, and hardship to others. While society progresses in “putting-down” Jesus, and accepting death as a final solution, I pray that I will remain awake in the Spirit of Christ.

“When He came back, He again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy.
They did not know what to say to Him.
Returning the third time, He said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting?
Enough! The hour has come. Look, the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners.”
Mark 14:40-41
