“When I passed by you again and looked upon you, indeed your time was the time of love; so I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your nakedness. Yes, I swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine,” says the Lord God.” Ezekiel 16:8
After the Israelites began to grow in the knowledge of the Lord, after their escape from captivity to the Egyptians, it was a time of love. Now come the time for God to cover the nakedness of the Israelites by entering into a covenant with them. God would make the Israelites His.
At this time, the covenant God entered into with the Israelites came through Moses. God gave them the Ten Commandments as His covenant to them. As long as they would obey the word of God, they would always be His special people. “Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel.” Exodus 19:5-6
God has also entered into a covenant of love with every non-Jewish and Jewish person of this earth. This covenant of love is given through Jesus Christ, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 Whoever holds to the testimony of Jesus “…are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” 1 Peter 2:9-10
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
