“For thus says the Lord God: “How much more it shall be when I send My four severe judgments on Jerusalem—the sword and famine and wild beasts and pestilence—to cut off man and beast from it?” Ezekiel 14:21
Ezekiel chapter 39 provides a view into the “day after” the Battle of Armageddon. This reveals the destruction of Israel at the hands of the world government, its global culture, and its military. Leading up to this time, Israel and the world is suffering from the sword, famine, wild beasts, and pandemics. The world is a place of spiritual corruption, persistent evil, chaos, and violence. “‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!’ She has become a dwelling for demons and a haunt for every impure spirit, a haunt for every unclean bird, a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal.” Revelation 18:2 At this time, the United Nations is governing as the one world government and its global culture dominates. There is much suffering, loss, and affliction of those faithful to Jesus Christ, until His return.
While the sword is destructive to those living for this world system, it is also the tool that divides the wheat from the chaff in the Day of the Lord. The wheat are us believers who will be received into the New Jerusalem to live with Jesus Christ forever, the chaff are those who scoff at Jesus Christ whose eternity will be in hell. The famine will be literal as described in this verse, “And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a day’s wages, and three quarts of barley for a a day’s wages; and do not harm the oil and the wine.” Revelation 6:6 The famine also refers to the scarcity of the testimony of Jesus Christ. Even today, the churches have abandoned the Gospel of Jesus Christ, government lawmakers do not integrate Bible values in policies and laws, the educational system does not allow Bible teaching in the classrooms, and no sector of society welcomes Christianity.
The “wild beasts” are literal as described in this verse, “And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth.: Revelation 6:8 Death will also come by the “wild beasts” who are the lawless ones of this world. They oppress the presence of the Holy Spirit, scoff at the need for the forgiveness of sin through Jesus Christ, and do not believe in God. The Holy Spirit restrains lawlessness, but when He is gone then chaos follows, “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.” 2 Thessalonians 2:7 Click for a post on the “lawless one”.
The pestilence is literal as we already see pandemics on this earth, and they will increase in frequency as the World Health Organization is devising plans to combat the coming pandemics. They are trying to combat the judgment of God with human effort when they need to reconcile to God through Jesus Christ. “…and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory.” Revelation 16:9 The pestilence also refers to the disease of the soul that comes by turning away from God and not living for Jesus Christ who gives us the Holy Spirit.
The people and beasts of the world will be cut off from this planet in the Day of the Lord when this present world system is destroyed. The Salvation of those who hold to the testimony of Jesus will come at that time so that we are received to live eternally with our Lord Jesus Christ.
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
