In this year 2022, Satan works through the internal presence of the mark of the beast. It is sin in its worse form as it forms thoughts, emotions, and behaviors from within a person. From the inside it attacks God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. All of this takes place because Adam sinned. The only hope is to come to God through Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sin. Jesus is the second Adam because He is perfect and sinless. Because He died for us as a perfect unblemished sacrifice, our sins are atoned for, and we have peace with God. Jesus lives today after being resurrected from the dead, and we who believe God will live with Him.
The first Adam represents the sinful nature of all humanity, and Jesus represents the second perfect Adam that brings the atonement of sin.
While Satan wants to sit in God’s place through the internal presence of the mark of the beast, there are obvious differences. The internal presence causes multitudes to sin against God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. It causes people to die to Christ. God gives Jesus Christ as a gift of life. The gift of Jesus Christ causes grace to overflow around the world to bring life through the forgiveness of sins. The gift of Jesus Christ comes by grace to totally overwhelm any consequences of sin caused by the internal presence. There is no comparison of the power of Jesus to the weakness of sin. By God’s judgment, condemnation comes to the sin embodied within the mark of the beast. Through the gift of Jesus Christ, justification comes to bring eternal life. As the internal presence of the mark of the beast brings death, God’s abundance of grace and righteousness lives through those who receive Jesus Christ.
Paul explains that the gift of Jesus Christ, the last Adam, is nothing like the sin-marred first Adam. Adam’s sin brought the need for the law (Old Testament), but Jesus Christ, the second perfect Adam brought the New Covenant. Jesus Christ is just like the Adam that they know, except Jesus never sinned. Jesus is likened to the Adam in the Garden of Eden, before the fall. The first Adam was responsible for the sin of many, but Jesus Christ brings grace and life to many. The judgment of condemnation followed the first Adam, but the gift of Jesus Christ brings justification and eternal life. While death dominated through one man’s sin (Adam’s), through one man, Jesus Christ, grace and righteousness will dominate through those who receive Him.
“But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! Nor can the gift of God be compared with the result of one man’s sin: The judgment followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification. For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ! Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous” Romans 5:15-19
