There is something that I do all the time that agrees with this verse, “Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.” Romans 3:31 I routinely post from the Old Testament such as the book of Genesis, Ezekiel, Zechariah, Daniel, etc. It is the faith I have in Jesus Christ that enlivens even the law and makes it interesting and relevant to me. I understand 100% how the law is upheld through Jesus and not at all nullified. Jesus is the unblemished sacrifice; His shed blood atones for my sin. After reading Leviticus, I’m more than relieved that I’m accepted by God through Jesus Christ and not by all the work requirements of the law. There is only one faith that makes all people right with God, that is faith in Jesus Christ.
At the time of Jesus, the Jewish people were still very boastful about possessing the law (the Bible). That was something that they had and no one else in the world had. It belonged to them. The prideful boasting comes to an end through Jesus Christ. They had nothing more to be boastful about because people were being justified by faith apart from their law. Jesus Christ and the Apostles were constantly using the law to bring people to God through Jesus Christ. The Jewish people are told that they and everyone else answer to the same God, and He justifies everyone through the same faith. That faith is in Jesus.
“Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. Because of what law? The law that requires works? No, because of the law that requires faith. For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. Or is God the God of Jews only? Is He not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.”
Romans 3:27-31
