“Thus saith the Lord God; I will also take of the highest branch of the high cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high mountain and prominent:” Ezekiel 17:22
This verse is talking about reestablishing the New Jerusalem after the old Jerusalem withers away at the hand of God’s wrath. We know the New Jerusalem comes after the Battle of Armageddon because the land of Israel and the entire Middle East are involved in that battle. In fact, the whole world is involved in that battle. Revelation 16:12-17 speaks of the gathering of the nations for the Battle of Armageddon. The Battle of Armageddon is the last major event to happen on this earth before the coming of Jesus Christ.
God is going to crop off from the young twigs a tender twig (those born of Jesus Christ). We will be planted upon a high and prominent mountain, which is Mount Zion of the New Jerusalem in the new heaven and earth.
There is no New Jerusalem for the first-born Jewish people (sons of the kingdom). The New Jerusalem belongs to the younger twigs of Christianity. We will be gathered from all over the world to sit with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, but the Jewish people (sons of the kingdom) will be cast out into outer darkness. “And I say to you that many will come from east and west, and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven. But the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Matthew 8:11-12
Before the New Jerusalem comes, the old Jerusalem is going to be completely destroyed with this present heaven and earth. On the Day of the Lord, this whole earth is destroyed, nothing and no one is spared, except those whose name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Even before the Day of the Lord, this whole world is going to suffer tremendously in the global tribulation. The land of Israel and the whole world will suffer the events of the Seven Plagues in Revelation 16, as well as the events of the Seven Trumpets in Revelation 8, 9. and 11.
Jesus Christ is going to replant His people in the New Jerusalem of the new heaven and earth. The old Jerusalem on this earth will not be in existence.
“In the mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.” Ezekiel 17:23
The New Jerusalem is a glorious place in the highest heaven that will have trees that bear the fruit of eternal life. There will be a place for everyone who holds to the testimony of Christ and lifts up His covenant, which is, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
