The narcissist king holds a private Miss Universe pageant from which he would choose his new ornament as queen.

“After these things, when the wrath of King Ahasuerus subsided, he remembered Vashti, what she had done, and what had been decreed against her.” Esther 2:1

After the rage of King Ahasuerus subsided, he turned his focus on finding a new queen after he banished Vashti, his former wife and queen, from his presence and ruined her life. Esther chapter 1 describes the rage of the king and the banishment of his wife.

King Ahasuerus had a narcissistic and grandiose personality, which made him feel relieved when he got rid of someone who opposed him. He did not feel any remorse or empathy for the life he destroyed. He was furious when his wife humiliated him in public, so he banished her and then moved on with his life as if nothing had happened. He started looking for a new woman to replace Vashti.

Throwing somebody “under the bus” is not what God wants of us, He wants mercy and compassion, “For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.” Hosea 6:6 Jesus Christ came to give us God’s mercy and compassion, “For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.” Luke 9:56 As followers of Jesus Christ, we are the light of His mercy, grace, Salvation and eternal life. “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” John 3:17 A gentle and humble heart helps us find rest and peace in our Lord Jesus Christ, instead of finding relief in the destruction of others, “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:29

“Then the king’s servants who attended him said: “Let beautiful young virgins be sought for the king; and let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather all the beautiful young virgins to Shushan the citadel, into the women’s quarters, under the custody of Hegai the king’s eunuch, custodian of the women. And let beauty preparations be given them. Then let the young woman who pleases the king be queen instead of Vashti.” Esther 2:2-4

The plan to find the king a new queen involved rounding up all the young and beautiful girls from every state in the country and making them compete in a show of beauty for his eyes only. They were corralled like cattle and dressed up as if they were toy dolls. The king would cho0se the new queen like someone shopping in a store for the most appealing merchandise. He would select the doll he liked best to replace the one he had discarded. It was essentially a private Miss Universe contest for the narcissistic and grandiose king. He wanted an ornament to adorn himself, not a human being with a soul and spirit created by God.

The Holy Spirit teaches us not to appeal to the carnal desires of the beast because we do not want to draw people to desire the beauty of the flesh but to desire the beauty of the Spirit of Christ. “Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. 1 Peter 3:3-4

“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another…” “For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Galatians 5:16-17 and 1 Samuel 16:7

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25
, 3:11
