God has sent us His Word, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit for the remission of sin.

“Then the Lord will be zealous for His land, and pity His people. The Lord will answer and say to His people, “Behold, I will send you grain and new wine and oil, and you will be satisfied by them; I will no longer make you a reproach among the nations.” Joel 2:18-19

The verse above is a continuation from this following verse, “Let the priests, who minister to the Lord, weep between the porch and the altar; Let them say, “Spare Your people, O Lord, and do not give Your heritage to reproach, that the nations should speak a proverb against them.’” Joel 2:17 That verse means that we should cry with remorse to restore our relationship with God through Jesus Christ. When that is done, “Then the Lord will be zealous for His land, and pity His people.”

The Lord’s zeal for His land and His people applies to the State of Israel and every Jewish person. However, they need to reconcile with God by admitting their sin and accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Only then will they enjoy the grain, new wine, and oil and be content. When they make peace with God through Jesus Christ, they will no longer be a reproach.

Through Jesus Christ, God has provided the grain, the new wine, and the oil. The grain represents the New Testament scriptures, the oil signifies the Holy Spirit given by Jesus, and the new wine is expressed in this verse: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 Nevertheless, most Jews and modern Israelis reject Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ” Matthew 23:37-39

As the following quote says, the Lord’s land and His people now include anyone who accepts Jesus Christ, not just the Jewish people. “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name…” John 1:12 God shows mercy and grace to those who admit that they are sinners and need forgiveness through Jesus Christ. He has given everyone the seed of the Gospel of Christ, the New Wine of Christ’s blood for the remission of sin, and the oil of the Holy Spirit to make us His dwelling place. We who submit to God’s authority by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior are nourished by the Holy Bible and Holy Spirit. We are no longer a reproach and no longer called Gentiles who are excluded from God’s family. “For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter, whose praise is not from men but from God.” Romans 2:29

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
