“For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.” John 4:37-38
As followers of Jesus Christ, we are only bringing the Gospel of Christ according to the work which has already been done. Everything which we share is from the foundation which someone else has already laid. In that sense, we are reaping something which we have not did any work to accomplish. Jesus Christ is the one who gave His life on the Cross to make atonement for sin, we only tell others of that sacrifice. Likewise, it is the Apostles and writers of the Gospels which gives us the message to share, a message given to them by the Lord Jesus Christ. We have entered into their labors as we tell others, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
The Apostles themselves were reaping what others had worked to make happen. The prophets of the Old Testament labored to prepare people to receive Jesus Christ as their Messiah by giving us the “scarlet cord”. John the Baptist verifies that as he quotes the Old Testament from Isaiah 40:3 when he said he was, ‘The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Make straight the way of the Lord,” John 1:23 All of the Apostles and writers of the Gospel followed the “scarlet cord” of the Old Testament writers to point to Jesus Christ. Isaiah 53 is an excellent example of the “scarlet cord” which points to Jesus Christ as the one sent to atone for sin. The disciples of the Lord Jesus had entered into the labors of the Prophets before them.
The society we live in today has erased the labors of God’s people by eliminating the Gospel of Christ. Their intent is to remove the foundation and heritage of the testimony of Jesus Christ. The labor of that heritage includes all Bible prophecy, the death and resurrection of Jesus, the need for the remission of sin through Jesus, the ascension of Jesus into Heaven, eternal life for Believers, and the judgment to come. The Gospel is no longer in the churches, Biblical values are no longer in the process of government lawmaking, the educational system has thrown out the teachings of the Bible, and Christianity is not welcomed in their “democratic” society.
We are living in the days of the thing which forms what people think, feel, say and do to enable the image of the beast to live and speak through people. The global government derives its power and authority through those who allow it to live and speak through them. That is why they want the Good News of Jesus Christ to be eliminated. Jesus makes us the temple of the Holy Spirit instead of the temple for the thing which inserts itself into thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It wants to set itself up as God within us as if it were God, “…it opposes and exalts itself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that it sits as God in the temple of God, showing itself that it is God.” 2 Thessalonians 2:4
As people allow the image of the beast to live and speak through them, they are conformed to their place in life, their mark in life, as they are groomed to the mark of the beast. It is a place which blasphemes God, discards the need for Jesus Christ, and tramples on the Holy Spirit. They discard anything to do with past labors or Biblical heritage. They are the masses which make-up the global culture of today.
We can assess that as followers of Jesus Christ we have entered into the labor of sharing the Gospel which was started thousands of years ago. We have entered into the labor of those before us. The diagnosis is that there is no new work for us to do but we build on the foundation already laid. The plan is to use the “scarlet cord” of the Old Testament and the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the New Testament to carry the work of God forward. We implement that plan by sharing the Good News in such a way as to show how the Old Testament points to Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Savior spoken about in the New Testament. The plan is successful when we build on the work of God which was started thousands of years ago through the Prophets and Apostles.
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:1
