“Then there arose a dispute between some of John’s disciples and the Jews about purification. And they came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified—behold, He is baptizing, and all are coming to Him!” John 3:25-26
The dispute over purification centered around John’s baptism and those coming to Jesus Christ to receive His baptism. Today, the baptism of Jesus is through the Holy Spirit, and the baptism like John’s is from the word of God. It’s one thing to share the Gospel of Christ for many to hear, but quite another for people to receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit. We need to be more than just hearers of the testimony of Jesus, but also be doers.
We are the John the Baptists of today and we testify about Jesus Christ as we encourage others to prepare for when Jesus comes back. That preparation is to come to God through Jesus Christ and to receive the Holy Spirit by the remission of sin. We can shower people with the Good News of Jesus and baptize them in the Scripture, but the Holy Spirit comes into each person’s heart by receiving the Lord Jesus. Some Gospel seed falls on hard ground, like a rock being baptized in water, but some Gospel seed falls on good ground like water moisturizing the earth and giving growth to a fruitful tree.
As followers of Jesus Christ, we are not in competition with each other about who brings more people to Him. The goal is to bring all people to Jesus and to deflect any glory, honor, or esteem from ourselves. Afterall, there is nothing we can do to fill a person with the purification of the Holy Spirit, only Jesus Christ can do that within a willing heart. In a sense, sharing the Gospel of Christ is water baptism, but the purifying baptism of the Lord Jesus is in the Holy Spirit. As human beings, we cannot purify anyone by sharing the scriptures of the Holy Bible, it is only when people make Jesus a part of their life that they can experience purification. Purification happens when the human spirit mixes with the Spirit of Christ.
The thing which forms what we think, feel, say and do considers purification to be from living by its guidance as it exerts its power over physiology and human nature. As long as it controls what people do, think, feel and say then they consider sin to be under control and purification reached. It requires that everyone allows the image of the beast to live and speak through them, and by what they say and do they are considered acceptable or rejected. The global “democratic” society in cities around the world is built on that type of artificial purification. It eliminates the human spirit, human sentimentality, etc. and hardens people to the Spirit of Christ. It mocks purification by the Holy Spirit, discards the need for the remission of sin through Jesus Christ, and denies God. It despises the life of Holiness. People are conformed to the anti-Christian global culture as they are groomed to the mark of the beast by what they say and do.
It sits itself up as God in the temple of God, our body, as if it were God, “…he opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” That is done by forming what people thinks, feels, does, and says. “….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
