“O mountains of Gilboa, let there be no dew nor rain upon you, nor fields of offerings. For the shield of the mighty is cast away there! The shield of Saul, not anointed with oil. From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan did not turn back, and the sword of Saul did not return empty.” 2 Samuel 1:21-22
Saul represents Israel in respect of their disobedience to God by turning away from Jesus Christ. Jonathan loved David and represents the love Christianity has for the lord Jesus Christ.
Today, Mt. Gilboa is still a place without pleasant “rains” and “dew.” Mt. Gilboa is a place where Lebanon and Syria borders Israel, and collaborates with the Gaza Strip, Iran, and Russia against the State of Israel. The West Bank and the Temple Mount is filled with violent conflict because of the covert operations coming against Israel from the area of Mt. Gilboa. The shields of the mighty are cast away there, they are defenseless.
Israel rejected Jesus Christ and her shield is not anointed with the Holy Spirit. As is obviously seen, the Israeli population is defenseless against the thing forming what they think, feel, do, and say. It is enabling the image of the beast to live and speak through the masses of the world, and they are conformed to the global culture of the beast as they are groomed to the mark of the beast. Those same masses come against Christianity as they are hostile to belief in God, discard the need for the remission of sin through Jesus Christ, and ridicule the Holy Spirit.
The followers of Jesus Christ do not turn away from the spiritual battle, we live as the faithful few even though the structure of Christianity has been killed and buried in a grave. “The bow of Jonathan did not turn back.” On top of that, the mighty faith of the Israelites, as partially described in Hebrews 11, is not in vain. Afterall, it is through the Jewish nation that Christianity was born. The Lord Jesus Christ Himself is an Israelite, a Jew from the Tribe of Judah. “The sword of Saul did not return empty.”
….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.
