Disciples remember Old Testament scripture to verify Christ’s actions: Today, we see the “scarlet cord” pointing to Jesus Christ

 “Then His disciples remembered that it was written, “Zeal for Your house has consumed Me.” John 2:17 

The scripture which the disciples remembered is written in Psalms 69:9a. “Because zeal for Your house has consumed me…” The disciples of Jesus were so much different than the 99% of the Jewish population for one very important reason, they saw the Old Testament scriptures pointing to Jesus Christ as the Son of God and Savior.

The reference to Jesus in the Old Testament is known as the “scarlet cord” which runs from Genesis 1:1 throughout the entire Bible. As followers of Jesus Christ, we know the “scarlet cord” points to the Cross where He shed His blood to make atonement for sin. By recognizing the “scarlet cord” in the Old Testament, we can see how the Old and New Testament are just one Bible. Receiving Jesus Christ for the remission of sin opens our eyes to see how the Old Testament is a reference to God’s plan to send His Son as the sacrificial Lamb. For God so loved the world that He sent His only Son so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.

Today, we know the House of God is our body as the Temple of the Holy Spirit because we believe in the Lord Jesus. By the remission of sin, He gives to us the Holy Spirit. Judgment comes to this world because the present government has made God’s house a place for the thing which forms what we think, feel, do, and speak. It enables the image of the beast to live and speak through people. As it lives and speaks through people, they are conformed to their place in life by what they say and do. They are conformed to their mark in life as they are groomed to the mark of the beast. An enormous tribulation is coming to this world by the hand of God, and we know without a doubt that zeal for His house consumes Him.
