I saw where gas prices are over $4.79 a gallon just a half block from my front door. I know there are a lot of people not liking that. It puts a squeeze on their money and activities. I know the people in the apartments where I’m at can’t afford the extra expense. Then again, I talked to a family member just recently who is doing a lot of traveling. From Pennsylvania they are traveling to New York. They even offered to pick me up in Ohio if I wanted to go with them. I’m not going. So, some people are buying with no concern at all while others are really feeling the pinch. The scales in these inflationary times don’t seem to be balancing. From that, I got a small glimpse of what the future is going to be like, “…. “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, “Two pounds of wheat for a day’s wages, and six pounds of barley for a day’s wages and do not damage the oil and the wine!” Revelation 6:5-6
While some around me seems to be buying and selling like there is no such thing as inflation, I’m happy to be living in my financially humble circumstances. Jesus knows where this world is heading and He has this to say, “… “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” Matthew 19:21
