Love God with all our heart and love others as ourselves. “Now when he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.” 1 Samuel 18:1 David had just said to Saul that he was the son of Jesse, like Jesus Christ declaring that He is the Son of God. After that, David and Jonathan (Saul’s son) were knit together as one. As followers of Jesus Christ, we accept Jesus as the Son of God, and our soul is knit together with the Spirit of Christ.

Having a soul knitted with love for God and others is what Jesus expects of us, “Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:37-40

Dishonorable intent towards wanting Jesus Christ. “Saul took him that day, and would not let him go home to his father’s house anymore.” 1 Samuel 18:2 David had just defeated the giant, Goliath, and Saul decided to keep David with him after that. Saul did not have a commitment to God, and was troubled by a distressed spirit, so his purpose for wanting to keep David was for selfish reasons. It’s like people who want to use Jesus Christ as a tool for their personal gain but has no love for God and no desire for the remission of sin. They are not knitted by the soul with the Spirit of Christ.

Those who govern by the mark of the beast wants to keep Jesus Christ in their possession for less than honorable purposes. For example, the churches of today do not embrace the Gospel of Christ and are dominated by those who live for the mark of the beast. They are keeping the churches with them but do not love God, Jesus, nor the Holy Spirit. They are not knitted together with the Spirit of Christ by the covenant made at the Cross for the remission of sin.

A covenant of love is made with us through Jesus Christ. “Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.” 1 Samuel 18:3 Unlike the relationship between Saul and David, Jonathan and David truly loved each other and the two made a covenant. That is like the covenant made with Jeus Christ for the remission of sin and eternal life for whoever believes in Him. God loves us and we love His Son Jesus Christ, and this is the covenant made, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 “And Jonathan took off the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, even to his sword and his bow and his belt.” 1 Samuel 18:4 We surrender our all to Jesus Christ, and no longer rely on worldly prestige and earthly power.

Jesus is a conqueror of hearts not a man of physical aggression. “So David went out wherever Saul sent him,  and behaved wisely. And Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul’s servants.” 1 Samuel 18:5 Saul wanted to use David as a man of war, but in the process, David earned the respect and honor of the people. That is the type of commander we have in Jesus Christ; He conquers hearts to give us love for God and one another through the Holy Spirit. Jesus is not a man of war who commands through physical might. “And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?” But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.” And they went to another village.” Luke 9:54-56

Jesus Christ is esteemed over those who focus on worldly prestige. “Now it had happened as they were coming home, when David was returning from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women had come out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with joy, and with musical instruments.” 1 Samuel 18:6 After David defeated Goliath, there was a celebration with music and all of the women were singing and dancing as they approached Saul.

As followers of Jesus Christ, we celebrate the victory He has over sin and death. Because of Him, we are reconciled to God, and we have victory over the ways of this world and will enter eternal life in the New Jerusalem. We celebrate our Salvation in the presence of a world which expects everyone to celebrate life through the mark of the beast. Today, we celebrate the victory that Jesus Christ has over the global government of the beast.

“So the women sang as they danced, and said: “Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands.” 1 Samuel 18:7 When the singers were approaching, Saul probably thought the celebration would be all about him, but they were giving more esteem to David. This is like when the multitudes of people were celebrating and praising Jesus in front of the Jewish leaders for all the miracles of healing and cleansing Jesus was doing. Today, it’s like the followers of Christ who celebrate and praise Him in the presence of those who deny God and trample on the Holy Spirit.

Those who govern by the mark of the beast expect to be esteemed above every other thing in this world. They want to have absolute ownership of the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors of every person. With the ability to form what people think, feel, and do, they want to sit in the temple of God, our body, as if it were God, “…it opposes and exalts itself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that it sits as God in the temple of God, showing itself that he is God” 2 Thessalonians 2:4

Those who seek to dominate the soul are vigilant against Jesus Christ. “Then Saul was very angry, and the saying displeased him; and he said, “They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed only thousands. Now what more can he have but the kingdom?” 1 Samuel 18:8 Saul was angry that the celebratory music and dancing was uplifting David. Today, those who govern by the mark of the beast are vigilant against music and celebration that uplifts the name of Jesus Christ. In fact, the churches of today no longer sing worship songs that lift up the name of Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit. They want to dominate the kingdom of the soul by making it the seat of government for the mark of the beast. “…it opposes and exalts itself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that it sits as God in the temple of God, showing itself that it is God.” 2 Thessalonians 2:4

As long as we celebrate Jesus Christ in music, we dedicate our soul as the home of the Holy Spirit. “So Saul eyed David from that day forward.” 1 Samuel 18:9 Christians, and Christianity as a whole, are suffering vigilance against them for celebrating Jesus instead of the thing that forms what we think, feel, and do. We do not conform to the mark of the beast.

Christ-centered music is attacked in today’s world. “And it happened on the next day that the distressing spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied inside the house.” 1 Samuel 18:10a. I think we can all imagine what it is to prophesy with a distressing spirit. It would be like someone in a bad mood saying what is going to happen and what he’s going to do, which would amount to various types of threats. It would be threatening to God, the ministry of Jesus Christ, and a grievance to the Holy Spirit.

“So David played music with his hand, as at other times; but there was a spear in Saul’s hand.” 1 Samuel 18:10b Saul was hearing David’s soothing music, but Saul was vigilant against David, in a very sour mood, and held a spear in his hand. This is like those who have a disdain for music which worships the name of Jesus through the Holy Spirit.

“And Saul cast the spear, for he said, “I will pin David to the wall!” But David escaped his presence twice.” 1 Samuel 18:11 Those who govern by the mark of the beast throw spears at the music which worships Jesus Christ. That is why the churches of today play contemporary music that sounds churchy but does nothing to worship Jesus. They intend to pin the Spirit of Jesus Christ to the wall and put an end to worshipping Him. Even today, it’s impossible to listen to Christ-centered music without some type of interference that steals the worship mood. “Spears” are constantly being thrown at music which worships Christ, but within the heart of Believers, a song of worship will live on for Jesus Christ.

The potential of Jesus Christ is feared by the Godless of this world“Now Saul was afraid of David, because the Lord was with him, but had departed from Saul.” 1 Samuel 18:12

Saul feared David because David had the Spirit of God on him and was growing in wisdom and in favor with people and God, as said about Jesus, “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.” Luke 2:52 That is what caused the Jewish leaders to fear Christ, the Spirit of God had departed them the same as departing Saul.

There is a literal battle for the soul of all people, and that battle is between those who have the Spirit of Christ and those who the Spirit of God has departed. For the followers of Jesus Christ, we are the temple of the Holy Spirit, “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?  If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.” 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 For those who welcome the image of the beast to live and speak through them, they lay claim to our body, “…it opposes and exalts itself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that it sits as God in the temple of God, showing itself that it is God.” 2 Thessalonians 2:4

The global government of the beast fears the popularity of Jesus Christ because as long as we are the temple of the Holy Spirit, they lose their authority and power. Its authority comes from within the masses of the people in every city around the world. It rules over the physiology of the body by the thing which forms what we think, feel, and do which enables the image of the beast to live and speak through us. It synchronizes us to the mark of the beast.

As Jesus Christ, and His music, is no longer wanted in the churches, it begins the judgment of God in this world with the opening of the Seven Seals, as written in Revelation 4.

Jesus Christ is removed from the presence of the Godless world. “Therefore Saul removed him from his presence, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people. And David behaved wisely in all his ways, and the Lord was with him.” 1 Samuel 18:13-14 Saul did not want David around him because David was esteemed among the people above Saul. Saul sent David into dangerous and life-threatening situations as a leader of combat troops. Even then, David behaved wisely among the people.

Today, the government of the beast does not want Christians interacting with their “democratic” society which welcomes the image of the beast to live and speak through them. The image is given life by the thing which forms what we think, feel, and do. Their society is synchronized to the mark of the beast and the followers of Christ do not conform. They intend to harden the human spirit to build a wall against the Spirit of Christ. To do that, they put Christians in situations of friction which constantly embroils them in battles to provoke attitudes and behaviors against the Spirit of Christ. They want to recycle the Spirit of Christ to perform ugly actions against God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. As Christians, we will be coming in and going out among their society and Jesus wants us to behave wisely in the Spirit of Holiness,

Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and scourge you in their synagogues. You will be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.Matthew 10:16-20

“Therefore, when Saul saw that he behaved very wisely, he was afraid of him.” 1 Samuel 18:15 When Jesus Christ was on this earth, the Jewish leaders did everything they could to trick, deceive, and conspire against Him, but Jesus is the power and wisdom of God, 1 Corinthians 1:24. Like Saul, the Jewish leaders became so fearful of Jesus that they conspired to kill Him. “But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out and came in before them.” 1 Samuel 18:16 Jesus is very much loved by the people He is among whom He teaches, heals, and cleanses,

“Therefore, when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John (though Jesus Himself did not baptize, but His disciples), He left Judea and departed again to Galilee.” 1 Samuel 18:1-2 Sometimes, the wisest thing we can do is to separate from those who incite conflict, debate, and strife of every type. Their only mission is to embattle the human spirit which mixes with the Spirit of Christ. They are attacking the Holy Spirit who keeps lawlessness from running rampant, and today that lawlessness is picking up steam around the world,

For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, which the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.2 Thessalonians 2:6-12

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25
