Humility Prepares a Place in Our Soul for Jesus to Set

Luke 19:28-44

  • Jesus prepares for making His entry into Jerusalem.
  • The Lord needs us to unleash humility with a Cross on its back.
  •  Jesus sets on the humility within us which we prepare for Him.
  • When Jesus enters through our humility, there is praise to God for Him.
  • When humility and praise is silenced then turbulence cries out.

Jesus prepares for making His entry into Jerusalem. “When He had said this, He went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.” Luke 19:28 In previous verses, Jesus was saying that He is coming back, and we must be faithful to His Gospel and the Holy Spirit. After He said that, He continued His walk into Jerusalem, where He would be crucified and put to death. “And it came to pass, when He drew near to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mountain called Olivet, that He sent two of His disciples,” Luke 19:29 The Mount of Olives is also the place where He talked about the last days in Matthew 24, and where He ate the last supper and prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane.

“…saying, “Go into the village opposite you, where as you enter you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Loose it and bring it here.” Luke 19:30 A donkey represents humility, in comparison to a high-spirited stallion. Through our humility, Jesus Christ makes a home within or soul, which makes us the temple of the Holy Spirit. Jesus has never sat in the human soul until after His death and resurrection took place. The donkey which has never been sat on represents the humility within us that allows Jesus to sit in our soul.

Also, it’s interesting that a donkey has the image of a cross on the back, as seen in the pictures below.

The Lord needs us to unleash humility with a Cross on its back. “And if anyone asks you, ‘Why are you loosing it?’ thus you shall say to him, ‘Because the Lord has need of it.’” Luke 19:31 The Lord has need of our humility to make us the seat of the Holy Spirit, and He wants us to unleash it. Today, people with scrutiny in their tone of voice will ask, “Why are you loosing it?” Our testimony to them is that Jesus needs our humility, “Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 18:4 Jesus knows how this world responds to humility,

“So those who were sent went their way and found it just as He had said to them. But as they were loosing the colt, the owners of it said to them, “Why are you loosing the colt?” Luke 19:32-33 The reason this world questions humility is because they rely on self-esteem to save people from destructive acts. They discard the idea of sin because they feel it debases a person and destroys esteem. They detest the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They expect to see the spirit of a stallion as they reject the humility of a donkey. They live by humanism rooted in the mark of the beast. The disciples answered, “And they said, “The Lord has need of him.” Luke 19:34 That is our testimony in this turbulent world, that the Lord has need of the donkey with the Cross on its back, the Lord needs our humility.

Jesus sets on the humility within us which we prepare for Him. “Then they brought him to Jesus. And they threw their own clothes on the colt, and they set Jesus on him.” Luke 19:35 We bring our humility to Jesus, making preparations for Him with our own clothes, before being clothed with the Holy Spirit. It is there, in the midst of our humble preparations, where Jesus Christ sits in the seat of our soul.

“Just as I am
Without one plea
But that thy blood
Was shed for me.”

(Church Hymn)

When Jesus enters through our humility, there is praise to God for Him. “And as He went, many spread their clothes on the road.” Luke 19:36 The many are those on the broad way who live by the esteem and confidence given through the mark of the beast. They throw their clothing on the road instead of humbly preparing a place for Jesus to sit within them. Meanwhile, the multitudes of His disciples praise God for Jesus, “Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen,” Luke 19:37 When there is humility within us, the Holy Spirit lives through us to openly praise God for the work Jesus Christ does in us. “…saying: “‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” Luke 19:38 Today, that is the message we followers of Jesus Christ have to share, that Jesus Christ is coming back, and He is the Son of God. When He brings us home to the New Jerusalem, there is peace and glory to God.

When humility and praise is silenced then turbulence cries out. “And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, “Teacher, rebuke Your disciples.” Luke 19:39 Today, those who live and govern by the mark of the beast rebuke the testimony of Christ in public places. The churches have been silenced and no longer preach the Gospel of Christ. They demand that our body be the seat for the mark of the beast. “But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.” Luke 19:40 Stones are hard and has no consciousness of humility nor praise through Jesus. We are already hearing those stones cry out in this turbulent world since the Gospel of Christ has been hushed. “Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes.” Luke 19:41-42

“For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side,” Luke 19:43 About thirty-five or forty years after Christ’s life on this earth, Jerusalem was under siege by the Romans. It’s like today, those who live and govern by the mark of the beast surround and close in those who have made their body the seat of the Holy Spirit. “…and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation.” Luke 19:44 Jerusalem was torn to pieces and not one stone of the temple was left upon another. It was also a merciless massacre of the Jewish people. As humility is replaced by self-confidence, or self-esteem, and the need for Jesus Christ is discarded, global tribulation breaks out. We see its presence in today’s world. The State of Israel will suffer destruction, persecution, and death as the global persecution overshadows the world. However, the global government of the beast will be destroyed as described in Revelation 18, as well as through the Seven Strumpets (Revelation 8, 9, and 11) and the Seven Plagues (Revelation 16).

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
