  • Jesus walks to Jerusalem to suffer crucifixion and death.
  • The question to ask is, “What does it all mean?”
  • We call out for Jesus to have mercy on us.
  • Jesus has mercy and we live for Him.

Jesus walks to Jerusalem to suffer crucifixion and death. “Then He took the twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be fulfilled.” Luke 18:31

When we read the Old Testament, we can see how the scriptures refer to Jesus Christ, and especially Isaiah 53 details the sacrifice He made for the atonement of sin. “For He will be delivered to the Gentiles and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon. They will scourge Him and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again.” Luke 18:32-33 The Gentiles refer to the Romans and everyone who were outside the culture of the Jewish people, but today, gentiles refer to anyone who is not living for Jesus Christ. Jesus is coming back, but until He does, the Spirit of Christ will be mocked, insulted, and spit upon.

Today, those of the global culture lives by the thing which gives them what to think, feel, do, and say. It enables the image of the beast to live and speak through people. It replaces the human conscience and fills the masses of people in every city around the world with traits of psychopathy against belief in God, against the need for the remission of sin through Jesus Christ, and against the Holy Spirit who restrains sin and lawlessness. They detest and belittle the life of Holiness. In their intent to kill Christianity, Jesus Christ is mocked, insulted, scourged and spit upon. As followers of Jesus Christ, we will rise again to live eternally with Him in the New Jerusalem. People are being conformed to the anti-Chrisitan global culture as they are groomed to the mark of the beast by what they say and do. Psychopathy is prevalent in those who the global culture rejects as anti-social and criminal behavior increases in the world.

“But they understood none of these things; this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know the things which were spoken.” Luke 18:34 The Apostles were still blind to the fact that the walk to Jerusalem would end with the crucifixion and death of Christ. After entering Jerusalem, the atonement for sin is made and God raises Him from the dead after three days and He ascends into Heaven for eternity.

The question to ask is, “What does it all mean?” “Then it happened, as He was coming near Jericho, that a certain blind man sat by the road begging. And hearing a multitude passing by, he asked what it meant.” Luke 18:35-36

Today, many people are blind to what the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus means, and they are begging for any help they can receive. They are begging because they suffer health issues, have food insecurities, have inadequate living arrangements, live in unsafe conditions and exposed to violence, are left out of the social network, are not respected, and have no way to achieve anything. “And hearing a multitude passing by, he asked what it meant.” The multitudes passing by are the same who shouted to have Him crucified in exchange for releasing Barabbas, an aggressive revolutionary.

We call out for Jesus to have mercy on us. The blind man was told that Jesus was passing by, “So they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.” Luke 18:37

By this time, everyone knew who Jesus was and the authority He had to heal, so just the name of Jesus enlivened hope of being given a new start in life. “And he cried out, saying, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Luke 18:38 Jesus having mercy on us is what His crucifixion and death is all about, and it was mercy that the blind man was asking for. Jesus comes to offer us mercy, grace, life, and Salvation.

“Then those who went before warned him that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Luke 18:39 Today, those who live and govern for the social network of the beast do not want people to be heard crying out to Jesus for mercy. The Gospel of Christ is being silenced, but the cries for mercy get all the louder in a world filled with egocentric attitudes, anti-social activity, increase in crime, lack of remorse as love goes cold, and no empathy towards others.

Jesus has mercy and we live for Him. “So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to Him. And when he had come near, He asked him saying, “What do you want Me to do for you?” Luke 18:40-41a.

Where there is no mercy seen in this world, Jesus has us brought to Him, and we are asked, “What do you want me to do for you?” What is it that we want Jesus to do for us? “He said, “Lord, that I may receive my sight.”” Luke 18:41b. To be able to see Jesus and to know what His crucifixion and death means is all we need to ask for. “Then Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.” Luke 18:42 The faith we have to come to Jesus Christ opens our eyes to who He is. Coming to Jesus means to experience mercy, grace, life, love, and Salvation and to make the Bible part of our life as Jesus gives us the Holy Spirit in the process.

“And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.” Luke 18:43 Today, we see Jesus who makes atonement for our sin, and who gives us eternal life in a new heaven and earth. We live for Him and do all we can to make mention of His name and we share this simple message, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25
