The Light of the Lamb

I make a constant effort to maintain peacefulness, meekness, and gentleness in my tone of voice and actions. Which is the same as saying I have no desire to use harshness and aggressiveness when I address someone. If I did, I really believe that I would be the one hauled off in a “padded wagon” and no one else. Many people try to rattle my cage and get me out of that lamb-like game plan. When I run across this scripture, it is instantly relatable; “These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.” Revelations 17:14 Jesus is the Lamb.

When I can, I share with others about the benefits of adopting a lamb-like posture to avoid self-destructive social circles. Many want to shut the lights off and leave me and everyone else in the dark. I’m trying to share the Lamb Light not the limelight. It’s like trying to convince hungry wolves that it’s a good thing to be a lamb. One day, the only light will be the Lamb Light. “And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.” Revelation 21:23

The Light of the Lamb is to give life to us and to enlighten us, “In him was life, and the life was the light of men.” John 1:4

When John let his light shine and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29 there were definitely wolves and lions around, just waiting for their chance to harm him and to harm Jesus. John went on to tell those wolves and lions that he saw the Spirit come down from Heaven like a dove that remained on Jesus. As light-bearers, we have a cross to carry, and the Lamb and the Light promises, “To the one who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.” Revelation 2:7b
