Elect in the Sanctification of the Spirit.
“To the sojourners of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of
the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied.”
1 Peter 1:1-2
Today, those who hold to the teachings of the Bible are scattered because the body of Christ is hacked to pieces. We are a people without an earthly social network to belong to, just like the Christians whom Peter is speaking to, “To the sojourners of the Dispersion…elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father.” The sanctification of the soul comes by being set apart from the direction that the world takes. The churches of today are not a home for Believers because they have adopted the frame of mind of “community family.” They live in accordance with the majority who embraces humanism empowered by the mark of the beast. They are not set apart in obedience for sanctification by the Spirit through the blood of Jesus Christ. All followers of Christ are chosen as the “elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ.” Being set apart in sanctification of the Spirit brings God’s grace and peace to us.
A Living Hope through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy
has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead
to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,
who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
1 Peter 1:3-5
Every person in this world was born of God through Adam when he was still Holy and without sin. When Adam sinned, every person inherited sin as a result, and the world began to degrade from that point forward. It was like being in a den of lions or a fiery furnace with no exit options. The only way out would be by the mercy of God to take us in again, as redeemed children, and that would only be possible through Jesus Christ. When Jesus was resurrected from the dead, after sacrificing His life to atone for sin, it opened the door for an incorruptible and eternal inheritance. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away.” By our faith in God, we are salvaged for Salvation and we have a reservation in Heaven. That Salvation comes at the return of Jesus Christ when all Believers will be gathered to live eternally with Him. There is an inheritance, “…reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
Faith Tested to Honor Christ to the Salvation of Our Soul.
In today’s world, there is a global agenda to discredit the belief in God, to discard the need for Jesus Christ, and to trample on the Holy Spirit who makes us the temple of God. We who hold to the testimony of Jesus Christ rejoice for our Salvation, but we are distressed by various hardships and afflictions that come against us day to day. The world is an unstoppable train on a fast track to usher in the unGodly government of the global “democracy,” and we are not on it. “In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been distressed by various trials.”
We see that this world embraces humanism with its human focus and materialism, which is all about social and economic rewards. It is even empowered by the thing that has power over physiology to give everything needed to be socially and economically successful. It endows a person with uncanny knowledge, heightened intuition, authority, power, extraordinary skills, amazing physical abilities and accomplishments, artificial emotions, etc. Even so, the faith we have in God through Jesus Christ is far more precious than all the success, wealth, and social integration that this world can offer, “…the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
The Holy Spirit in us gives the assurance of the reality of Salvation through eternal life and gives us a love for Jesus whom we have never seen, “…whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.”
“In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been distressed by various trials,
that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire,
may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen you love.
Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,
receiving the end of your faith—the salvation of your souls.”
1 Peter 1:6-9
Prophets Tried to Determine the Time of the Coming of Jesus Christ.
Here is an excellent example of how the writings of the Bible are inspired by the Holy Spirit through the Prophets, “the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow.” Isaiah 53 is an excellent example of the inspiration of the Holy Spirit foretelling the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The fact that the Spirit of Christ was in the Prophets reveals that Jesus Christ existed with God from the very beginning of time, “For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Revelation 19:10 Today, we understand the prophecies relating to Jesus Christ, but those under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit didn’t understand fully what the Holy Spirit was saying, “To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things which angels desire to look into.”
Many times, the Holy Spirit speaks through symbolism because there are no words available to explain what we see today in this year 2022. For example, there is no way that 2000 years ago the word gun, bullets, missile, rocket, space satellites, etc. would ever come from the mouth of John when Revelation was written. Although he talked about people being killed by “smoke, fire, and brimstone” he would have no comprehension of explosive weapons of 2022. Although these things were revealed to Him, it was from the foreknowledge of the Holy Spirit for the purpose of speaking to us today. “To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us“
The Prophets of the Old Testament were continually anticipating the coming of their Messiah, Jesus Christ, but they didn’t know Him by name the way we do today. Just like the Prophets, we are anticipating the return of Jesus, “Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, searching what, or what manner of time.” The Salvation we have in Jesus Christ is real, which is obvious by the Divinely inspired Scriptures which the Holy Spirit speaks through. Even today, we see the mark of the beast in this world, which the Spirit of Christ told us would come over 2000 years ago through John. We also see global warming in the world today, which the Spirit of Christ told us about in Revelation 16:8-10 and 2 Peter 3:10-13.
“Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully,
who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, searching what, or what manner of time,
the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when
He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow.
To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which
now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things which angels desire to look into.”
1 Peter 1:10-12
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
