“Yet hear now, O Jacob My servant, and Israel whom I have chosen.” Isaiah 44:1

Who are the servants of the Lord? They are we who serve Him through Jesus Christ, we are “Jacob”, “This is Jacob, the generation of those who seek Him, who seek Your face.” Psalms 24:6 Who has the Lord chosen? He chooses everyone who calls upon Him through Christ Jesus, we are His Israel, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:12-13

When the Jewish people rejected Jesus as the Christ and Son of God, all the blessings relating to the Kingdom of God has been taken from them. Those blessings are now given to all of us who have repented of our unbelief through our Lord Jesus. Speaking to the Jewish culture Jesus says, “Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it.” Matthew 21:43

“Thus says the Lord who made you and formed you from the womb, who will help you: ‘Fear not, O Jacob My servant;
and you, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen. Isaiah 44:2

Who or what is “Jeshurun”? That is a poetic name of endearment for Israel, which means “upright one” or “blessed one”. We know that the Spirit of the Lord directs that term “Jeshurun” to all who serve Him through Jesus Christ, in the presence of the Holy Spirit. He has formed every person from the womb, and as born-again believers, He has formed us from the womb of our born-again experience through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our Helper and Comforter.

How can we know if we have the Holy Spirit? If we do not speak against Jesus Christ and say that He is Lord then we have the Holy Spirit, “Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 12:3

Christ Jesus made it clear that He is not endeared to the Jewish culture, as quoted, “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.” John 8:44 “See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ” Matthew 23:38-39

“There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:1-3

“For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring;” Isaiah 44:3

“And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:29

Who are the descendants upon whom the Lord pours His Spirit? They are everyone who believes in Jesus Christ, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” Acts 19:2 “And being assembled together with them, [Jesus] commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:4-5 8 Click for a post from Acts 2:1-13 on the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and also the post on Acts 2:14-16.

The thirsty and dry ground is our heart, mind, and soul without the Holy Spirit who is given through Jesus Christ. The thirsty soul and dry ground are made into floods of water, “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive;” John 7:38-39

“They will spring up among the grass like willows by the watercourses.’ One will say, ‘I am the Lord’s’; Another will call himself by the name of Jacob; Another will write with his hand, ‘The Lord’s,’ and name himself by the name of Israel.” Isaiah 44:4-5

The descendants will spring up abundantly among the grass like willows by the waterways. That is a promise referring to the promise that God made to Abraham to multiply his seed as innumerable as the stars of the skies, “Then He brought “Abram” outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So will your descendants be.” Genesis 15:5 Abrham believed God that the promise would be fulfilled.

“…just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham. And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.” Galatians 3:6-9

As followers of Jesus Christ, we say, “I am the Lord’s”. We call ourselves the branch of Jacob/Israel that was grafted into their tree as their branch was cut off, “You will say then, “Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in.” Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith.” Romans 11:19-20 We write with our hand, about ourselves, ‘The Lord’s,’“. We name ourselves by the name of Israel, which is to say we call ourselves the children of God…
