The Lord brings distress, heaviness, and sorrow to Israel.

Isaiah 29:1-4

“Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the city where David dwelt! Add year to year; Let feasts come around. Yet I will distress Ariel; There will be heaviness and sorrow, and it will be to Me as Ariel.” Isaiah 29:1-2

The city where David lived is Jerusalem. David established Jerusalem as the capital of Israel when he conquered the Jebusites, “And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus, where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land. But the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, “You will not come in here!” Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion (that is, the City of David)…Then David dwelt in the stronghold, and called it the City of David. And David built all around from the Millo and inward.” 1 Chronicles 11:4-5, 2 Samuel 5:9. Jerusalem was in the region of Judaea in the days of Jesus, as quoted, “Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David…” Luke 2:4

The Lord said that Jerusalem would be as Ariel to Him. There is not much known about “Ariel” in the Bible, but we do know it is a place/person that the Lord scorns. “Ariel” is a place to where the Lord brings distress, heaviness, and sorrow. Today, we see how distress, heaviness, and sorrow is being brought to Israel for all the world to see within the State of Israel.

The Lord gathered the Jewish people to the State of Israel in 1948 as the place where He unleashes the wrath of His judgment on them, as quoted, “Therefore thus says the Lord God: ‘Because you have all become dross, therefore behold, I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. As men gather silver, bronze, iron, lead, and tin into the midst of a furnace, to blow fire on it, to melt it; so I will gather you in My anger and in My fury, and I will leave you there and melt you. Yes, I will gather you and blow on you with the fire of My wrath, and you shall be melted in its midst. As silver is melted in the midst of a furnace, so shall you be melted in its midst; then you shall know that I, the Lord, have poured out My fury on you.’ ” Ezekiel 22:19-22

Today, the Jewish people continue to celebrate their yearly feasts, and each year that the feasts come around they find no relief from the distress, heaviness and sorrow that surrounds them. The Israelis have been immersed in 19 wars since the being established as the State of Israel in 1948. There was even a war in 1948, and wars have continued to this day. Jesus Christ says to the Jewish people, “See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you will see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’” Matthew 23:38-39

“I will encamp against you all around, I will lay siege against you with a mound, and I will raise siegeworks against you.” Isaiah 29:3

The Lord has encamped against Israel from all around. The whole world sees how Israel is surrounded by enemies, as instruments of the Lord to bring His judgment against Israel. There is the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, forces in Syria, Iran, etc. 90% of the population in the Middle East are Muslims, with Islam as their religion. Israel is surrounded by enemies within the United Nations as the majority of countries are against the independence of Israel. We see how the global culture protests, from cities around the world, against the government of Israel. We also see how much of the land of Israel is now being called the West Bank, and Jerusalem is divided between West Jerusalem [in Israel] and East Jerusalem [in the West Bank].

For the Lord to lay a siege against Israel, with a mound and siegeworks, is to make it possible for the enemies of Israel to defeat Israel. In the days of Isaiah, a mound was built up against a wall so that invaders could easily climb the mound and advance over the wall. Siegeworks were instruments, devices, and tactics used to conquer a city. We see how easily Israel is being besieged by looking at the huge territory being whittled away by the West Bank. “You also, son of man, take a clay tablet and lay it before you, and portray on it a city, Jerusalem. Lay siege against it, build a siege wall against it, and heap up a mound against it; set camps against it also, and place battering rams against it all around.” Ezekiel 4:1-2 Click for the post on Ezekiel 4

“You will be brought down, you will speak out of the ground; Your speech will be low, out of the dust; Your voice will be like a medium’s, out of the ground; And your speech will whisper out of the dust.” Isaiah 29:4

In the eyes of the world, Israel has already been brought down low by the scorn of the world, from the grassroots population of the global culture all the way up to the leaders of the United Nations. The Lord brings Israel all the way down to the dust of the earth, as described in the post on the Day After the Battle of Armageddon from Ezekiel 39. Christ Jesus says to the Jewish people, “See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you will see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’” Matthew 23:38-39

Today, we still envision the voices of mediums, such as those who do seances, with voices low and whispery as if speaking from the dust of the earth. The leaders of the State of Israel are those mediums who falsely prophesy for the well-fare of Israel through guns and bombs. Their voices are speaking from the dust of the earth, meaning they are about as low as they can go in the eyes of this world [which is by the hand of God]. In their low place in the eyes of the world, and in the eyes of God, they still prophesy peace for the independence of Israel. The voice of the government of the State of Israel is low within the assembly of the United Nations, like a whisper out of the dust.

If the Jewish people would have said “Yes!” to Jesus Christ 2000 years ago, the Jewish culture and the State of Israel would never have existed. That’s because in Jesus Christ, there is no Jew, no Greek, but we live in many different countries, with many different colors, with many different languages. “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” Galatians 3:28-29 We do not have a country on this earth to call our own because our country is in the new heaven and earth within the eternal New Jerusalem.
