Watchman, what of the night?

“The burden against Dumah. He calls to me out of Seir, “Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?” Isaiah 21:11

This is known as the prophecy against Edom because Dumah and Seir is within the region of Edom. Edom is named after Esau, as quoted “ So Esau dwelt in Mount Seir. Esau is Edom...” Genesis 36:8 Esau founded Edom, click for the scripture on that from Genesis 36:1-11. Esau sold his birthright to his brother Jacob for something to eat, as described in Genesis 25:29-34, as quoted, “…or profane person like Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birthright. For you know that afterward, when he wanted to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought it diligently with tears.” Hebrews 12:16-17 . That is equivalent to those of today’s culture who choose earthly physical needs over God as they serve the creation instead of the Creator. Our Lord Jesus says, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:4

Jesus says, “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28

Watchman, what of the night? The answer is that today’s world is filled with people who serve the beast that has power over physiology instead of living for God in the Spirit through Jesus Christ. They serve the beast that gives them what to speak, do, think, and feel while rejecting the presence of the Holy Spirit in their life. That beast causes them to lose their eternal inheritance that comes through Jesus Christ as it gives breath/life to the image of the beast to speak by speaking and living through people everywhere. By what they are given to say and do they embrace atheism while being groomed to the mark, name, number of the beast.

Also, Esau and Jacob were twin brothers, Esau being the first out of the womb, which entitled him to the inheritance of the birthright, which he sold. Jacob was the younger who inherited the blessings of the birthright that initially belonged to Esau. That is prophetic for the firstborn Jewish people being entitled to the birthright of the Holy Spirit and eternal life, but they “sold” that birthright when they rejected Jesus as the Christ and Son of God. Christianity is the second born and younger child, who has inherited the birthright once belonging to the Jewish people. Watchman, what of the night? Jesus answers that question, speaking to the Jewish leaders, “Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it.” Matthew 21:43 The kingdom of God has been taken from the Jewish people and given to we who follow Jesus Christ because He sees the fruit of our belief,  “The older will serve the younger.” As it is written, “Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.” Romans 9:12-13

The name Seir means “hairy” and Edom means “red”, which are descriptions of Esau, as quoted, “And the first came out red. He was like a hairy garment all over; so they called his name Esau.” Genesis 25:25

“The watchman said, “The morning comes, and also the night. If you will inquire, inquire; Return! Come back!” Isaiah 21:12

The morning comes and also the night refers to the terrible and wonderful Day of the Lord as described in Zachariah 14. The night of tribulation will be upon this earth on a global scale, but the return of Jesus Christ is the morning, Jesus is the Bright and Morning Star, as stated in Revelations 22:16

“Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” Matthew 24:29-31

Though all the world forsake me, and Satan tempt me sore,
through Jesus I will safely reach the goal;
He’s the “Lily of the Valley, the Bright and Morning Star,”

In the first verse of this post, Dumah is mentioned and means “silent” or “to be still.” There will be “1/2 hour” of silence in Heaven after the United Nations [global government of the beast] is established as the undisputable one world government, as quoted, “When He opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.” Revelations 8:1 That “1/2 hour” of silence will be a time of peace for the government of the beast before the events of the Seven Trumpets and Seven Plagues are unleashed. The night is upon us and the morning of the coming of Jesus Christ follows, “…the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.” 2 Thessalonians 2:8 Click for a post on the “lawless one” from 2 Thessalonians 2.
