“Gladness is taken away, and joy from the plentiful field; In the vineyards there will be no singing, nor will there be shouting; No treaders will tread out wine in the presses; I have made their shouting cease.” Isaiah 16:10
The description of the rich agricultural fields and abounding vineyards of Moab are described in the post on Isaiah 16:8-9 on the “Battle cries have fallen over your summer fruits and your harvest”. Those abounding fields were the sources of economic wealth and emotional joy for the people of Moab. However, when the Assyrians conquered Moab, they devastated the vast fields to leave the Moabites in poverty and sadness. The people were forced to surrender to the Assyrians for their survival. The Lord sent the Assyrians against Moab, because Moab had hostile and violent intent against the kingdom of Jerusalem. As a result of the hostile intent, they lost their plentiful field.
Today, the gladness, joy, singing, and shouts of delight, as a result of the plentiful fields and vineyards, relates to the fruit of the Holy Spirit. The Lord wants us to “…be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ…” Ephesians 5:18-20 When the Holy Spirit is removed from this world, the joy, gladness, singing, and shouts of delight coming from the Holy Spirit are absent.
The Assyrians, who destroyed the fields of Moab, represents the global government of the beast that discards the plentiful field of the Holy Spirit. That is the Lord’s judgment coming against a global population that rejects Him, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. People choose to live by the beast instead of choosing to live in the joy of the Holy Spirit where there is singing to the Lord and shouts of delight in the name of Jesus. The beast cannot live in the presence of the Holy Spirit so the fruitful fields of the Spirit are devastated. In the barrenness of the fruit of the Spirit, people become receptive to the beast that gives them what to speak, do, think, and feel. They deny God, reject the need for Jesus, and do not want the Holy Spirit to be part of who they are. The beast gives breath/life to the image of the beast to speak by speaking and living through people. By what they are given to say and do, they are groomed to the mark, name, and number of the beast.
“No treaders will tread out wine in the presses; I have made their shouting cease...” refers to the Christ, Jesus, being the New Wine of the New Covenant, which is, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 The treaders are us Believers who has the experience of presenting the New Wine from the “grapes” that has produced our born-again experience, which has turned into the Gospel of Jesus Christ written on our heart. Under the government of the beast and its global culture, the Lord has caused the treaders and the shout of Gospel delight to cease. That is part of the wrath of God’s judgment coming against those who refuse to open their ears and to open their eyes to the word of God.
These are the words of the culture of the beast to us treaders of the word of God, “Who say to the seers, “Do not see,” and to the prophets, “Do not prophesy to us right things; Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits. Get out of the way, turn aside from the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.” Isaiah 30:10-11 “Do not prattle,” you say to those who prophesy. So they will not prophesy to you; They will not return insult for insult.” Micah 2:6 Our Lord Jesus says this, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” John 9:4-5
“Therefore my heart will resound like a harp for Moab, and my inner being for Kir Heres.” Isaiah 16:11
There is a cliche that says, “Hate the sin but love the sinner.” That is what the Spirit of the Lord is expressing through Isaiah when He says, “…My heart will resound like a harp for Moab, and My inner being for Kir Heres.” The Lord feels deeply for His fruitful field that blossoms with the Holy Spirit, but His wrath is against the violence and hostilities done against His Son, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
Lawlessness arises due to the Holy Spirit being removed from this world. That happens as a result of an unbelieving world that feels no need for the repentance of sin through Jesus Christ and does not want the Holy Spirit. The Lord has deep love for the blossoming of the fields of the Holy Spirit, and deeply feels when those fruit are devastated, a devastation causing people to suffer the consequences, “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.” 2 Thessalonians 2:6-8 Click for a post on the lawless one.
Kir Heres was a major city in Moab and probably the capital, serving as its stronghold, strength, pride, and economic center. The Lord does not delight in destruction, but rejoices in the blossom of the fruit of the Spirit. Our Lord Jesus was sent from God, not to destroy but to save, “For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.” Luke 9:56 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” John 3:16-17
“And it will come to pass, when it is seen that Moab is weary on the high place, that he will come to his sanctuary to pray; But he will not prevail.” Isaiah 16:12
A high place was a place where false gods were served, where the sanctuary of false gods were. At the devastation of Moab’s rich agricultural fields and expansive vineyards, the Moabites went into the sanctuary of their false god to pray for deliverance. They wanted deliverance from their worldly losses not the deliverance that came through God.
Today, the false god in high places is the power that is in the air. Satan is the prince of the power of the air, “…the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience…” Ephesians 2:2 Isaiah, through the Spirit of the Lord, says this about Satan, “For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation on the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’” Isaiah 14:13-14 Ezekiel saw the vision of the space satellites, space station, and space shuttle, as described in Ezekiel 1.
What is the sanctuary that today’s culture, which is global, enters into? It is the temple of the body, where the beasts lives by giving them what to speak, do, think, and feel. That is of Satan because it is against God who has created our body to be the temple of the Holy Spirit, “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God…” 1 Corinthians 6:9 The beast that builds his sanctuary within people is the one “…who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 Click for a post on that.
The day is coming when seeking answers to atheistic prayer from the beast, who has power over physiology, will not prevail. That’s because the power center of the beast is plunged into destruction in the Fifth Plague of Revelations 16:10-11. The beast will be powerless, no more power over physiology, no more power to answer atheistic prayers. There will be no deliverance from the lawlessness, chaos, and destruction that comes upon them.
Jesus said to them, “It is written, ‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’” Matthew 21:13
The Christ, Jesus, is the only mediator between us and God our Creator, “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus…” 1 Timothy, 2:5 We do not know how to pray the way we should, so the Spirit intercedes for us, “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” Romans 8:26
“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
