Battle cries have fallen over your summer fruits and your harvest.

“For the fields of Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah; The lords of the nations have broken down its choice plants, which have reached to Jazer and wandered through the wilderness. Her branches are stretched out, they are gone over the sea.” Isaiah 16:8

The places that the “lord of nations” had broken down were places in Moab. Those places were the sources of economic vitality, prosperity, wealth, and emotional joy of the people. The fields of Heshbon were lush and productive agricultural places. The vine of Sibmah were renowned, high-quality vineyards used for producing the finest wine. Those fields and vineyards reached to Jazer, to the north, extending to the desert. The branches of the lush vines reached over the Dead Sea [Salt Sea]. That area of productivity can be seen on the map below.

The “lord of the nations” refers to the Assyrian king, who totally devasted the rich agriculture and vineyards of Moab, totally destroying the economic prosperity, wealth, and emotional joy of the people. That was the Assyrians’ way of forcing surrender and submission to their rule. The “lord of the nations” represents the United Nations within their drive to be the undisputed one world government of the beast. The economic prosperity and wealth of nations that rebel against the goals of the United Nations are torn-down, put in upheaval, and made stagnant. The United Nations intends to have control over all the world’s resources and wealth to form the global economy. The United Nations was established in 1945, immediately after WW2 [World War 2], and brought the global government of the beast, as described in Daniel 8:1-14.

The global government of the beast and its global culture conquer people in every city around the world by devastating the rich and fertile land of the Spirit. “It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation.” Revelations 13:7 They oppose the Holy Spirit who gives blossom to the fruit of the Spirit, they reject the Christ, Jesus, who gives the Holy Spirit by the remission of sin. And they reject God who sent His Son Jesus so that we could have life more abundantly, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 The beast cannot function in the presence of the rich and fertile land of the Holy Spirit. When people reject God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, they become receptive to the beast that gives them what to speak, do, think, and feel. That beast gives breath/life to the image of the beast to speak by speaking and living through people everywhere. By what they are given to say and do, they are groomed to the mark, name, number of the beast.

On the map below, on the left, within the red circle is about the size of the stretch of Moab’s rich agricultural fields and vineyards. The cities circled in blue include Jazer, Elealeh, Heshbon, and Sibmah. The blue water is the northern tip of the Dead Sea [Salt Sea]. On the map to the right, the entire Dead Sea is seen between Moab and the kingdom of Judah. In seeing that, you can envision the area covered by the rich agricultural fields and the vineyards.

“Therefore I will bewail the vine of Sibmah, with the weeping of Jazer; I will drench you with my tears, O Heshbon and Elealeh; For battle cries have fallen over your summer fruits and your harvest.” Isaiah 16:9

The Lord bewails the vine of Sibmah, Jazer, Heshbon, and Elealeh. However, He doesn’t bewail the wrath of His judgment that He brought against Moab. Moab plotted violence against His people of the kingdom of Judah. It was Moab’s violent and hostile heart that caused their rich and fertile lands to be devastated. That is how it is when the Holy Spirit is taken out of the way…He is the one who restrains lawlessness, violence, and hostilities, as quoted, “For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.” 2 Thessalonians 2:6-8 Click for a post on the lawless one.

The Lord bewails, weeps, and drenches this world with tears because of their rejection of Him, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. He weeps because He does not see the oil of the Holy Spirit within people, the fruit of repentance is not blossoming in the spirit, and the rich and fertile fruit of the Spirit is devastated. When the Lord returns, He brings into eternal life with Him we who have the oil burning and His Light shining in the spirit. Click here for the parable of the oil in the lamps.

Instead of a meek and gentle Spirit of peace, there are battle cries upon the summer fruits. In today’s culture, which is global, there is a battle cry heard against the Holy Spirit, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and belief in God. There is a battle cry against the fruit of the Holy Spirit and against the harvest of the birth of new Christians. “Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child… and the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.” Revelations 12:13, 17 Click for a post on the extinction of Christian births.

Really, it seems as though there are battle cries against the Summer season, as it has become next to impossible to enjoy the fruit of “fun in the sun”.

“….to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets,“
‘I will not impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.’”
“I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
Revelation 2:24-25, 3:11
